Imprisoned Son Trial - FL v Timothy Ferriter - Day Two

  • Florida man Timothy Ferriter is accused of locking up his adopted son inside of a room he had built in the family’s garage. Ferriter faces charges of aggravated child abuse, false imprisonment and neglect of a child. Court records out of Jupiter, Florida show that the door to the room had a deadbolt on the outside, along with multiple other locks. Investigators also found video from a ceiling camera that showed Ferriter allegedly punching, throwing, and beating the son multiple times. When Ferriter's son wasn't in school, he allegedly was locked in the room - only allowed out to eat or sometimes use the restroom.

A child who feels unloved, un-included, treated differently will do anything for attention. Even if it's bad things. This boy wanted to be loved like his siblings and he never was. This is why i believe he acted out so badly. This does not mean he deserved to have punishment brought upon him like this. This whole case is heartbreaking. Watching that mom watch this makes my stomach sick she did nothing to protect him either.

I agree. Children act out for attention and because they aren't receiving love and acceptance at home. Then putting him in the garage in the box makes it even worse!

100% agree with this. If they got him when he was a baby then in my opinion any of his behavioral issues are more than likely caused by their treatment of him. Poor Ronan. I hope he gets Justice for what these people put him through.

Do your research! Children with separation/abandonment issues which develop into Behavior Personality Disorder (BPD), are CAUSED by the abandonment of the BIOLOGICAL parents. NOT the LOVING family that came to love & raise him. This comes from VERY young age. First things babies learn are EMOTIONS/EXPRESSIONS/FEELINGS. When those get disrupted (abandonment/neglect), then the child will more than likely have issues with: insecurity, trust & AUTHORITY (disregard for). Last time I checked, this considered how most criminals are developed. Seems to me, these parents were at their wits ends TRYING to keep that from happening by trying to handle themselves.

      @amandawesterfield7447 8 месяцев назад +8

I disagree. There are many children born with mental disorders that go undetected until the child becomes old enough for the disorder to present it's self. So saying children act out because they feel unloved or unwanted or uninvolved is 100% in accurate.

This child's comment showed that he was being merciful towards his parents and wants others to be merciful also. And while the child said that merciful comment on the stand, the dad had absolutely zero emotion on his face when he heard his son say that. These parents are narcissistic monsters with zero conscience.

As a Registered Nurse (now retired after 47 years in my profession)...I find it horrifying to learn that these "parents" thought it was perfectly "ok" to lock this child up in a box with absolutely NO means of calling for help if he truly had some kind of life threatening emergency!!! They knew absolutely nothing about this adopted child's biological family's health history. It is not a rare occurrence for people to drop dead in their tracks from an unknown but lurking medical condition...it happens to adults and CHILDREN all the time. It goes without saying that everything else about this imprisonment is disgusting as well.

The victim only has the state supporting him, he never asked to be adopted by the defender, he had no choice but to go with them and they are the reason that he " so called became a difficult child " they set the standards for his growing up, they are the ones that taught him everything.... why did they punish him for their short comings... they should have been the ones put in that box 📦

If there is a court order that prevents her from being within a certain distance to one of the children then she would have had to leave during their testimony but that doesn’t appear to be the case. I’m sure Tim’s attorney wanted her there to support her husband as it could look bad to the jury for her not to be there. They are still married after all and both insist they are innocent. He destroyed grandmas insulin, he was a terror. He did worse things to his cousins. Yet, not one of us ever thought to lock him up in a box! He was not beaten and he was fed to his heart’s content. A child will behave negatively if it's a way of getting some sort of attention and acknowledgement from his carers. Negative attention is better than none. I would like to know how he has been behaviour wise since being removed from his parents and the box. I have no doubt that this child had/has behavioral and emotional issues. That is clearly demonstrated by the facts that he said he was apathetic to the proceedings, and his parents simply made a mistake and should not be punished. They have gaslighted this child.
He very possibly has a reactive attachment disorder stemming from infancy.
However, I also have no doubt that his adoptive parents exacerbated RJ’s emotional issues. They wanted to lock him away and not deal with it properly. They should absolutely be held accountable for the damage they’ve caused. His siblings are obviously affected by their behavior as well, by simply witnessing the treatment their brother endured.

Best line of questioning - you were going to give your 4 year old sibling beer, correct? Answer. Yes. Question. And it would be dangerous for a 4 year old to consume alcohol, correct? Answer. That was the point of the experiment 😂

1:07:48 the guy sitting behind the defendant is almost in tears from the sisters testimony. The stark difference in expression from the defendant and the man sitting behind him is unreal. Tim has no emotion what so ever. I don’t believe he cared about the adopted children at all. I guess the only reason they wanted the kids was for someone to clean the yard and house. Plus don’t you get money from the state for adopting?

this trial, more specifically these videos of how they treated Their son should be reason enough for CPS to never ever give them their other children back.

Does anyone else feel this child may have a psychological illness such as Aspergers that is behind his behaviour? He is a very smart kid but is so matter of fact about the acts he carried out. He needed psychological help.....instead he was locked in a box which caused further psychological damage. I have no sympathy for these poor excuses for parents. This poor child needed help not punishment 😡

The defense attorney Crossing examining this victim I hope she doesn't have kids of her own if she does somebody needs to check out her house and also her co-counsel apparently they think this is normal behavior if they have kids that would be very concerning they don't need kids if they believe this is appropriate behavior for the parents that treat this child like this so shame on those attorneys Shame Shame Shame

If the parents did not lock him up would he have harmed others? If they did not do this, and the kid harmed another child or person then they would be bad parents too. Double edge sword here. Regardless of what happens in this trial. If this young man harms someone in future, are parents at fault too? He gave 4 year old beer to prove it would harm child. Did you hear that?

Got to love defense counsel and victim blaming. He is a child! Doing anything he could for attention. In his eyes, at least he was being seen by them even if it was negatively. He just wanted to be acknowledged. And the "dad" sitting chin up, so proud of what he did. Sickening!!

It's horrible enough of a crime in and of itself but to put all their children through this trial - come on - just plead guilty and do the time. You were wrong. And why does the wife get to sit in on the trial of the husband? Isn't that a conflict?
