This one eq move is a winner for adding some instant edge to any track, I use this a lot for energy and excitment... (this is in Logic Pro x thumb up the video if you would like to see more Logic Pro X tutorials?)
Kudos for being one of the few "compare these sounds" with a proper setup of tracks to switch instantaneously and fluently to limit bias. That and level matching are my biggest gripes with most of these types of channels, so thank you for doing this in the proper way to accurately judge. As far as youtube videos go.
Hi This is Derrek from the Apple records days .I used this on a song with a heavy synthe bass doubled with 2 sounds and it worked great not only with the vox but also it added a nice clarity to my basses which I was having trouble getting clarity from !!! I love the way you say things so clear and easily understandable for non engineers like myself to get so easily ... Thank you sir !
I wish Fab Filter and all the major DAW's would do a deal where the fab filter EQ, Compression, Limiter, Reverb, and multiband comp were just the "stock" units. As good as most stock units are, these are just that extra mile better
@@OdinOfficialEmcee I wish too, but I think it would make the cost of the DAW too high. Although, if they had a bundle option, I would go for it. Their limiter is by far the best I've used.
Yes please more stuff in Logic. Maybe all Mac owners should get a copy at £199 inclusive of updates - Protools is too 'out of sight' for most of us? Perhaps do a video on using their 'vintage' eq's and compressors? Tried your excellent 'trick' straight away and it is really powerful.
Mate I'd really love to see a full vocal tutorial sort of video. Iv been engineering for years but still love to learn. Iv just recently started putting vocals in mono, bang in the middle and letting the width of the reverb be the only stereo part of the vocal. I listened to Coldplay Yellow, his vocals are bang in the middle and mostly mid range. Could you do a video on vocals being in mono similar to that particular vocal?
Good tip and timing. I was having an issue with bass and harsh mids in one of my mixes. Seeing your video reminded me that I could use MS. Kinda reversed your tip.
Thanks for the trick, it's a gem! The dangerous bax is nice for this too although it's not linear phase. Can imagine psp e27 (avedis emulation) is good for it as well, lovely highs on that thing!
Prefer the apple sound, for this song, in this youtube video, right now, that is (that´s a good thing to remember about audio)👌🏽 Good comparison, super subtle difference.. Monitored through Sonarworks calibrated, great headphones
Hi Streaky, another great video. Can you make the plug in pop up view larger, maybe even full screen? It’ll make it a lot easy to view for people watching on mobiles or tablets? Love the channel
Thanks for another great eq tip! When you mentioned differences in the ‘sound’ of various eq plugins being quite subtle it got me wondering - do you notice if hardware EQs such as say a Tegeler tube eq or similar sound much different compared to that of say logic built in eq or fab filter etc, or is it more the experience of hardware and the ease of use/limited possibilities that makes getting a great sound out of them so much easier? Considering getting into the hardware realm with the likes of Tegeler, but just wondering if there really is a noticeable jump in sound or if you’re mainly paying for a user experience and ease of use if the sound quality doesn’t change as much. Cheers!
Hey Streaky I have video idea for you: our band records all at home primarily in the box. To save cost we use a mastering service called Emastered for the final output. I thought it would be cool if you would dissect a master and tell what you think they are doing and if it’s worth it. To help I could provide a pre master and post master files to help you analyze the wave forms. Etc. If you’d like that lemme know. Otherwise. Thanks for your content!
i leart a new thing about the logic eq too bad i could barely hear the difference in my headphones. Just why are you lifting all of the highs just for poping up the vocal up a bit. Could this be done in a nice way with a bell shape on the eq for the sake of just lifting out the vocal in mastering?
This isn’t just for lifting the vocals it does all above too which is why you need to be careful it works nice when subtle with other settings in play too 👌🏻
FF has a display tilt, you can change the tilt in the setting. By default it is 4.5. Click the Analyzer tab at the bottom of FF. In this tab it's the forth button from the left, the button looks like 3 horizontal faders.
Nice tip, but the click bait thumbnail made me want to dislike. I get that a mid high shelf doesn’t look as exciting as a crazy eq but I’m pretty sure we’re all here for sound not looks.

@streaky how did you get it purple
Thanks for sharing your expertise. This is a bread/butter thing to know/practice. :)

Cool, you used my track! :) Sounds def better with the mid eq on!
Cool track....
Thanks!!
This channel is great. I appreciate the straightforwardness!

I have yet to come across an EQ as good as FF. So powerful.

This video sold me on the fab filter, thanks!
I could really hear the difference. I'm looking forward to trying this trick out on some of my unfinished projects.
I needed this video thanks👍

Wishing for tutorials about saturation

Hi streaky , Nice 👍 thanks 🙏
Is adding a bax ms 1.7 kHz have some kind of a similar effect ? Or is it a different purpose ?
Hi Olivier, Check out the Bax section in the course I go through this in detail 💪🏻
Aha a decent intro tonight!
I like the PQ2 the best. I thought the logic Eq had a grit i did not like.. My ears are burnt ATM so it's prob all in my head ?
What is the point of using a linear phase eq? Assuming we can't understand phase shifts over a stereo file and linear phase can cause pre-ringing.
Sounds cleaner to my ears

@@Streaky_com Okay less is always more right. Nice to see you working in Logic Streaky!
Hmm question for you @Streaky. Pre, (personal)Post Master, or both for demos?
Pre thx

seems like there's a difference at their graphs.... ff displays the mids & highs above the low end...and quite a lot. Is this something to care about?
I guess it's a slope setting different - I would say Logic EQ has little or no slope while FF has 4.5 or even higher. Just a display matter ...
@@mabian69 yes, there is no sound difference... but to be honest sometimes when i look at the ff graph i get worried...lol
@@4low395 I see, I prefer the ramp too, I hope it can be changed on the preferences

What version of Logic are you using Streaky?
10.5.1
the best way to get the eq there isn't a best way you want ur vocals to be sculptured into the beat
4 commercials within 10 min video... thats bit too much no
RUclips is pushing ads hard 😔
Logic EQ does it better :)

Sorry was just the first shot of the ff eq I could find :(
Would you rather his content gets less traffic amidst the sea or average content with clickbait titles and thumbnails?
