Jocko. I am in my early 50s and last year I had to admit I was wrong about everything. I changed my life and am now enjoying a fantastic second life. Thank you for showing me the way to get started. Truly grateful.

Jocko and Echo you guys are awesome. Probably my favorite podcast for just chilling out, working, and especially during cardio. I look forward to every new post. Also why does echo have massive biceps lol
Hey Jocko, I'm a Army Vet, Iraq 03-04 Afghanistan 09-10. Convoy security Gunner, until promoted to sergeant and became truck Commander. I was rocked by an IED that blew up the truck behind me and KIA the driver and gave me a TBI, then came home and got into a semi truck accident and that was the final nail in the coffin. I have had several TBIs from military, fighting, truck accident and football. I have realized that I can't just mentally push through shit more than 30-60 minutes max. If I keep pushing through I start twitching, loose my balance, my cognition goes, I loose my mental filters to process shit, loose my cool, severe migraines, and stuttering more than the norm now as my head shuts down. If I do it for more than one or two days I'll shut down for days, weeks and the worst was months. I'm just getting back on track. Sorry for the long story, so I'll wrap it up. My question is: what is your recommendation to Vets that have the one thing, mental strength/toughness, being able to keep going and pushing through shit, ripped away in my case blown/ smashed away with every hit to their head? How should I/we deal with it to move forward? I'm have a hard time. Thanks, Bear
Don’t know if you are into joe Rogan but this episode is about a Vet who had severe TBI and is with a doctor who helped him build a TBI foundation for vets and anyone who is having a hard time with it. I highly recommend it to you, it will most likely help. Hope you can conquer those demons and move on and enjoy a amazing life. I suffer from pretty severe PTSD from the funeral industry and first responder life. And this episode really helped me out! You’re in my prayers and thanks for making this comment. Hope the link helps ruclips.net/video/9jN6eBH8CFc/видео.html
On recognizing negative developments that will result in detrimental results to the team, especially the welfare of your entire team, have the courage to admit error, and change minds, and course of action.
You know, when I see Jocko waving that knife around like that, it reminds me of when I ran out of clean forks, I used to eat my food with just a knife.
It must have been terrifying, as an enemy, to turn your back and see Jocko with that knife waving at you just before you die! :) Rambo is definitely less scary! :)
If Jocko waives that knife to my face and asked me: "Do you agree with me? Do you want to change your mind?" Nope Jocko, i agree with everything you say! :)
I don’t think I have heard Jocko discuss how he decided to retire from the Seals. Maybe I missed it, but I think it would be a very interesting discussion
I think what you guys are "verbally" running around is....dont be predictable. The act of not being predictable is taking a 3rd person POV at yourself and your "target"....which could be anything. That which feeds me kills me....being predictable is a subtle death of being creative in your reality. Be creative. Be unpredictable with purpose. Love the podcast....first time here and I'll come back! ADVON
I listen to Jocko and honestly, to me, he’s not spitting any new knowledge or shedding any light. His POV is easy to see because it just comes down to being stable in the head. It’s scary to think people out there have a hard time realizing literally all the shit jocko talks about.
It's hard to be stable in the head in such an unstable world I think. Any basic training emphasizes performing under pressure and SEAL training cranks that to 11. It takes a certain type to go to war and a whole nother to make it back psychologically. That kind of mental discipline is like any other muscle and these guys really worked theirs out.
Hey Jocko, Been a fan of yours for a couple years now and I want to ask you something. I work for a big corporation. I am part of an emergency response team for this corporation. I got this job because of my experience in the Air Force as an EMT. There are two separate teams like mine and only one of them apparently is supposed to exist but due to power struggles and politics at work, two teams now exist. Both teams have been instructed by suits not to interact or even be friendly towards one another. I am part of the team that is not supposed to exist. The other team is much larger and is much more established so people always go to them. Today we had an evacuation drill where the other team essentially did all the training and prepped for the drill to take place. The other team did not include my teams Sweep routes for the evacuation. If my team members were not there to tell someone that the routes were not included, potentially if this was a real life scenario, many lives could be lost. I am the newest member yet everyone agrees with my ideas to try and get the two teams to get along and interact for the better of the company. If you were in my shoes, how would you go about addressing issues like this to higher ups that already don't like you just because you are part of a team that "shouldn't exist"? I've been implementing extreme ownership tactics with my team members and it has made so much of a change with them. I've managed to bring them all closer and function together. When I first started here it was very dysfunctional and over time I have managed to get us to where we need to be. Now my next task is to aim higher. Aim for the suits. Essentially though I'm like an E-3 trying to convince a bunch of O5-7s to work more as a team but they don't like me despite how good I do at my job. I feel like there is resentment being held towards me because I'm pushing for these changes and it's a fine line to walk so I don't push too much and end up crushing toes. Godbless, Jordan
I'm not Jocko, but I did read your comment and I hope you achieve your goals with the team! Stay strong and don't lose faith in them or yourself! Best regards from Switzerland🤙
