Thank you so much. Such a lovely thing to say.
Agree
Same here!!
Absolutely agree with Sam. It's so lovely that you take time off the boat to show us something of the lovely towns. I love your very genuine conversations, so refreshing and you always seem to keep so calm.
Thank you so much
The fellow from NZ is not going to be the only one who buys a boat because of you two! The rest of us can dream along with you, thank you for the lovely vid!!
Thank you Kathy x
"BUT I was the one stuck in the lock" 🤣 God that made me laugh!
We did this lock again yesterday, fortunately with no problems this time
@@FloatingOurBoat Excellent
Since I don't have the health and income required to cross the ocean to come see these places I sure do appreciate y'all taking us on the tour via your video.
Thank you Scott. It's our pleasure x
What comes across in your videos is that you are a lovely happy couple who always seem to see the best in things, wherever you go. Brings a smile to my face. And Fran looks like she was really enjoying that beer at the end after dry January. 😊
Thank you so much Mark, and you're right I did enjoy the beer! 😋
Now that was entertaining, i love it when your out and about and i get to see the shops and other things, 2 thumbs up !
Thank you Sam.
A wonderful blog. There is so much history in the UK. Definite thumbs up on this one.
Glad you enjoyed it
A lovely vlog! Thank you for Sharing. Chester is so beautiful. I was a child when I was last in Chester and walked part of the Roman wall. It's so good to have old haunts brought back to life. 💘 from Arizona 🇺🇸.
Nice to think that some parts of Chester wont have changed at all
Just began to watch episode 82. Wow I can't wait to see Chester and the museum.
As a lorry driver, I've seen a few of the places you've visited. More accurately as a lorry driver I've been somewhere near where you've been lol Ellesmere Port and Chester are typical examples and you've ignited my desire to see Chester in the flesh. Been to the zoo a fair few times just need to see those City Walls and stuff! Another fantastic vlog! Thank you!
I do remember my mum doing the washing when i was a kid, and using a 'copper' to help wash the clothes, we had an outside laundry, next to the outside loo!! Brings back plenty of memerory's of me growing up in the '50's............................Thanks guy's!!
Thank you for watching
Chester cathedral and Chester looks beautiful 💛 great video thx 🌸
Loved the variety of this video, thankyou
Loved this one, especially the wonderful historical elements.
Well done, Bravo!
An absolutely captivating video, guys. I always look forward to your uploads.
Great informal vlog you two👍
Good morning, as usual another great vlog to start my day.
Great history tour of Chester! Your chats and wanderings are always entertaining. Thank you.
Great visits to Ellesmere Port and Chester!
We both love Chester, we only live about half hour away from there and often spend the day there with a nice meal down by the River Dee. Love the vlogs, keep them coming.
We really enjoyed Chester too, Thanks for watching
Getting to see the Cathedral was so cool! 😮 Thank you.
Rich and Fran! Another great VLOG! I truly enjoy the experience you share with all of us! Keeping things real!
Loved it guys thanks 😁👍👏👏
Great video very thank you
We went to the museum a couple of years ago and was very impressed .keep the vlogs coming enjoy every one
I knew he went for a beer after the lock ordeal heheheheeh Thanks for sharing I really enjoyed this tour of Chester That church was amazing
Awesome update both
Loved seeing my home town in this episode, and you visited our launderette, not far from where I live. Great !
Fun watching you visit the cathedral, bakers row, and colosseum, there are so many awesome places to see there.
Not been to Chester yet, may go in the summer, looks great.
Most interesting. Thanks for taking the time to video everything.
Your videos are always so interesting. I really enjoy the way you explore the areas you visit. It really brings the enjoyment of cruising to life. No wonder the guy from NZ bought a boat! Thanks as always for sharing your adventure.
Another fabulous vlog. Love Chester and the Boat Museum. Thank you. Great to see you both and dogs again. 🐕🐕
Thank you Malcolm. X
Thanks for a great video. Good bit of steering Fran!
Thank you
Thanks for taking us with you on a lesser traveled waterway and teaching us about Hugh I
Another great vlog so well done. I remember my Mum lighting the fire and boiling up the washing in the copper and the big day when we upgraded to a GAS copper with a tap so we could put the tin bath under it and fill it up for our weekly Friday night bath. All the old gas stoves had a gas tap on the side where you could attach the flexible copper gas pipe.
Great video .Chester is a great place to visit. Great driving by Fran, the paintwork on your boat looks great.
Thank you Nigel
Always a great video I look forward to them and all the history that you share from each place on your travels.I grew up and lived in Cornwall until my mid30s when I moved to Florida but seeing your adventures to the places I never got to see is fantastic, keep the videos coming, thank you
We have a son in Cornwall, such a fantastic place. Glad you're enjoying the videos. X
Another great vlog.... I am still enjoying re-watching them all from the start.
I love Chester and visited the boat museum at Ellesmere Port many years ago. I even bought a very smart green windlass from there which is still going strong.
I bet when you looked across at the River Mersey you never imagined that you'd be cruising up it in a new boat with the Foxes!!
We had no idea. We always said we would never have a new boat !!!!
I did enjoy seeing the areas around the canals.
Oh dear...now you have made me feel really old, Fran....:( I remember using a copper to heat the water for our baths years ago.....in the "wash house"....bathing in an oval metal tub, just large enough for me (the youngest). No idea how everyone else managed in it...…
Excellent vlog, really enjoyed it, loved another glimpse of that rock wall along the canal...stunning. Thank you.
Lovely trip as usual! Thanks for taking us along! Sooo glad u DID go into the Ellesmere Port area, what a wonder the museum, cathedral, & I, being vegetarian, usually vegan, altho I slip sometimes, loved watching u get ur bulk grain! Woohoo! Peace ! Q
Really good episode. Lots of interesting sights to see and just the right amount of commentary 👍
Thank you
Cheers guys.
Great video Chester looks fantastic
It is. We hope to go back soon
For once, you were following in my footsteps having been to the boat museum and Chester years ago. Not by boat though! Cheers Alan x
Maybe a trip to add to your list Alan x
Well done Fran. Bad boy rich. Nice tour of the museum, wish I saw more .... so you were teezing us all to make a visit their!
Absolutely right. Get your boat over here x
Hi from The Whitsunday’s Queensland Australia, love seeing your travels, we are so hot here, nice to see you two rugged up
Hi John. Thanks for watching all the way from Queensland. We could really do with a little of your sunshine just now. We have been stuck due to stormy wind and rain for nearly a week now 🙄
Great video, you are right the museum is an interesting place to visit
Thanks Fran for teaching me about zero waste shops. Googled near me and now I know where to go.
That's great news
Thank you for my trip down memory lane through Chester. We visited 5 years ago, it was the highlight of our visit to the UK. We stayed in a unit on the canal, everywhere was so easy to walk around and see the local attractions. The stop and go bus had some interesting tales to tell. In the grave yard was a women who gave birth to 15 sets of twins! Lots to see and very nice people. Thanks again!
I think it is one of our finest Cities. As you say, so much to see and all in easy reach. Glad you enjoyed the memories.
Hi guys, thanks for the tour of Chester, looks amazing l love old architecture so I'm going there one day, it's beautiful. Love watching your videos but envious, l live on my narrowboat but on residential mooring and dont get the chance to go far enough, it my guides to the network, take care guys
Thank you Roger. It's a shame you don't get to travel so much, but you are still living on your boat. We're glad we can be your eyes to canals further afield.
Love seeing your country through your eyes. Lovely perspective.
Glad you enjoy it!
Good evening to you two, superb video, I love it, you make me discover your very beautiful country, and also its history, I have always admired the care and the desire to preserve the heritage that people have in UK
Thank you Jean-Louis. It is a beautiful country as I'm sure yours is, but we feel we are only just discovering it's full beauty as we wander slowly on and off the canals.
That’s great. Take us sightseeing.
Interesting looking place Chester.
Really well done.
I appreciated your sharing some of the unique trees and mechanical structures alongside the canal into the port.
Excellent museum sequence, just wish you would provide a separate longer time museum video.
Keep Healthy and Keeping Loving What You're Doing.
G.
Thank you Gary. We just wanted to give a taste of the museum. It wasn't meant to be a tour guide and we needed time just to wander around on our own without the camera. Thanks for watching.
Re your ref to local sandstone ---there's a group of walks around Cheshire called The Sandstone Trail which are well worth giving a go if you ever get the chance. That lock wall was frighteningly high. Loved the video. Great vibe to it. Thanks. Keep up the good work.
We will have a look for those walks Geoff, thank you x
Each time, Its like watching two of my best friends explain their home movies they took the week before on vacation. And every week they go someplace different, so I’m always looking forward to seeing them again!
Ah, thank you Doug x
Hi Fran and rich I am loving following you both, it looks like you are both having a wonderful time and enjoying life. Just wanted to let you no fran that I have brought my first loom, you inspired me. I am a Keen spinner so I can use my own yarns. Take care jac xx
Wow, that's wonderful Jackie. I would love to have a go at spinning my own yarn. It has always seemed a bit of a mystery to me. Let me know how you get on x
Guinness Fran, great stuff. Good video guys 👍🏻
I do love a little drop of Guinness but this was actually a locally brewed Ruby porter and was lovely. I used to drink Guinness with blackcurrant many years ago, but I've grown up now.
Nice driving Fran, you have nerves of steel!
I wasn't as confident as I looked but it was one of those times that you just have to go for it. Pootling wouldn't have worked
Brilliant video
Thank you
Thank you
I enjoyed seeing the old style laundry.
Looking forward to Chester next week. Going to the Anderton open day on Sunday. I really enjoyed the National Waterways Museum. Not touched a drop myself in January. Propably make up for it next week as its my birthday whilst in Chester. Thanks guys take care. Alan. Be
You will love Chester. Take it easy on the beer especially after a month without 😋
"I am Spartacus". Takes me back. Lol. Chester is beautiful. Vlog is almost like being there.
No, I'm Spartacus! 😂
Lovely mix of history snippets and great advert for that oft forgotten leg of the network. I could practically taste that pint at the end... no such beverages in the ex-colonies :-( looking forward to spring and return to UK.
Thanks Malcolm, roll on spring eh? You can taste your own beer then
Love the video, I really must visit Chester, looks like an amazing place to visit.
Dry January..... for me impossible, my birthday is on the 25th!! 😃
Cheers Nigel
Oh, you are excused then but you could always do it in February 😂
Well done Captain Fran,, LoL you did good girl..loved the museum . Have a fantastic spring cruise cheers til next video👍
Thank you. If you look at my face as I left the lock, I was far from confident, but there was no room for dithering.
omg so good watching this knwing that I have been here walked these streets gotta love Chester. that catheral is like so WOW.
Chia seeds in my bread? I will try it tomorrow! Thanks for the video and the look around all this history!

Chester..lots of History.....
Have fun... Enjoy you're day..
💞💝💖💕💕
Thank you Patricia.
Made it to Chester by boat in 1978 but had no time to look around ; so great to do a tour with you both
I guess it may have changed since then. Glad you enjoyed our tour.
Very nice blog. Chester looks great. Our first narrowboat is surveyed Tuesday so we might get there one day.
Thank you. Good luck with your survey.
Chester looks really nice! I've continued dry Jan into Feb the challenge may keep on going for me 😇
Good luck with that, we're not that good I'm afraid
i have to agree with evert wenderpirt, without doubt the most enjoyable video of two lovely people letting us see you living your dream, so enjoyable thank you so much allways look forward to your next adventure.
Thank you Malc
Ellesmere Port my home town 😃 I did my work experience at The Boat Meusem as a school kid.. They filmed parts of The Peaky Blinders there too. Great video 🍻
I had a couple of pints of REAL ale last night. First proper beer in nearly 15 years.
Chester is beautiful what ancient history in the Cathedral. Enjoyed your journey this week.
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you both, Chester is on my list, steeped in history. My mum in law had a copper in our house, getting up at 5:30 am to light the fire on a Monday morning, this was in the late 1940s, she had come from a village with electric ,with a washing machine of sorts !!
Oh that was a bit of a shock for her. I guess we have made some progress over the years.
Hi Fran and Rich. Great vlog.. Barry and I grew up in Chester. Hope you enjoyed your time there.
We loved it
Always love you videos. Keep them coming. You make all your viewers day. Jim Rogers, Paducah, KY - The four Rivers area where the Tennessee, Cumberland, Ohio and Mississippi rivers meet.
Ah, thank you Jim and thank you for watching all the way from Paducah. X
Well done for making it through dry January! I did not join you however😏.
Yes, unfortunately, it is delightful people like yourselves, that are driving lots of people like me, to try Narrow Boating. So when I'm causing havoc on the Cut in late June, you can only blame yourselves!
Cheers.
Yolks. We did our washing at grandmas with the copper, dolly ( with a dolly blue,) and a mangle!!! Didn’t seem that long ago. Joan
With ee guys, search for a cheaper provider and give ee a ring and they should match the lower provider or give you a better deal, that's what they did for me, good luck guys, great content as always.
Hi I just found yr channel it’s wonderful thank you.i like how yr everyday chores become exciting and fun to watch especially in lockdown ,greetings from New Zealand 🌲🌻🌝🌺..
Hi Alicia. Do glad you are enjoying our videos xx
♥️♥️♥️♥️ can’t wait to see you guys - fab vlog - Chester looks amazing - can’t wait to visit - and Fran - you looked like you proper enjoyed your first beer after dry January 😂😂 you’re a better woman than me 🍷
You will love Chester, so much to do and see. So glad it's February now 😋
Now that was really nice! Thanks for taking us along. Daughter wonders how I can spend an hour watching a 12min video. She and my husband closely watch my time, lest I waste a minute of it 🙄. I told her that you are in the UK and I am not. So I will pause the video to get more information on what you are showing us. Very enjoyable!
You two are awesome and I appreciate that you are RUclipsrs. I hope you have a really good week and I hope we will see you again next week. Or sooner is always good.
Thank you Rebecca. It's a good job our videos are not longer then. You would be banned from watching I think
Floating Our Boat - I am in my 60s and worked hard, raised her and gave her so many opportunties. Now, I am retired. She would do well to avoid opinions on how I spend my time. Were she to suggest that I should stop watching you guys? (I follow 4 of you), then I would double the time. She knows that. Same with husband but he’s not trying to improve me.
Really enjoyed that and Go Fran :) glad you hung out for Dry January. The cathedral and museum looked amazing so thanks for taking us along . We even had coppers here in NZ but then I suppose they were all English immigrants so that would be expected :)
Thank you. I was pleased with myself for lasting out, but February was very welcome. X
Fun seeing you on the Vobes Show yesterday.
Ha ha! I'm not sure I liked having his finger up my nose!
Another great episode Fran & Rich. Chester looks cool, you're making me want to visit places! In fact, I've booked a short holiday in Hebden Bridge because of you. Looking forward to that!
We are lucky and have visited so many lovely places. Henson bridge is great place. Hopefully the flooding will be sorted by the time you go.
@@FloatingOurBoat you certainly have visited some great places. Fingers crossed that the flooding will be gone when I go there.
That is one mega deep lock
What an amazing place it is. We moored for 3 days and had an amazing time. Only problem no elsan but we had friends who came down to visit and we were able to clear.
It is definitely one of our favourite cities
I found your wonderful channel thru Foxes Afloat & so am a new subscriber. Back in 1981 I was fortunate enough to visit the UK for an 18 day tour, we basically did a figure 8 starting in London , thru Wales into Scotland & back to London again. I had opportunity to enter Chester Cathedral & it was absolutely breath taking then even, as you say, it's not a terribly ornate cathedral, it is amazing that such a place was built in it's time! Or at least that's my 2 cents of opinion haha. It was incredible to see it again however brief, it's just as magnificent now, thanks for sharing it & all your journeys with us, you are both a joy to follow & cheers from Midway, BC, Canada
Thank you for joining us and for subscribing. It sounds like you covered a lot of ground on your 28 day tour. How wonderful. You probably saw more than many Brits see in their lives. We have a wonderful country here and we are so much enjoying discovering it. We would however love to come to Canada!!
@@FloatingOurBoat It took a year to save for the trip, at the time, but so very worth it! We might have to arrange a house & boat swap haha, as I would love to see the UK again, then all either would need do is pay for travel arrangements & food. If you do make it to my neck of Canada you're more than welcome at my home & dinner is on! Matty my furry girl loves company, you can see her on my channel, she's a Rough Collie & Great Pyranese cross
Brilliant video! New subscriber from Canada. My wife is an ex-pat and we come to the UK every year. Originally booked to come over this May but looking like that trip will be postponed a bit ☹️. Now bingeing on narrowboat vlogs to keep our spirits up. Love your videos! Please stay safe and healthy. Cheers from Ottawa. Dave
Hi Dave. Welcome to our channel. Sorry you can't get your fix of England this year put hopefully our videos might cheer you up a little.
Brilliant as usual , best 'Canal Couple award ! ' as you are different !! You get off the boat and explore !!, I know its extra work but #1 !
Thanks for going to EP and the Canal Boat Museum ! Who Knew ? added to my bucket list.
'Are you not entertained '? best line from Gladiator . Chester and York. Two must do's
Subscribed for a few years !
Thank you so much Eamo'. The off canal wanderings are very much a part of our life and we love sharing them with you.
@@FloatingOurBoat As exiled in Houston TX I live my retirement years, for now as a young 60 from Stoke-on-Trent, through you. Hoping to get a narrowboat and get my lovely Latina wife interested but quite a culture gap to close ! Hope to be over in July 2020 and meet you and Captain Gary.
The boiler in the washingroom!
I'm 67 years (young) and used to help my mother on washingdays with such a boiler in the first two places we lived. I made the fire and kept it going for the whole washing day (usually once a month - it was only boiling wash). As a bonus me and my younger brother were allowed to steambath (sauna) in the washingroom after the washing was done. At last we washed ourselves in the rest of the hot water in the kettle (in danish the kettel is called "gruekedel").
Ah, happy memories eh? Once a month wash day and bath day.. Thank you for your memories.
Your videos are 'absolutely stunning' 😂 Seriously I am binge watching but sadly nearly reaching the end😩
Thank you for watching Chris, don't worry there will be plenty more to come
