I second that , Hears to the next two years .yaaa loved every bit of it so far. Cheers to you both ,your stars...
Thank you
Nail on the head comment about going back and seeing places in a different season.. Winter can display so much more, without the obstructive leaves on trees.
The "niggles" of getting older. We tend to deny them, but they carry on, and in the end they will win. Injuries take longer to heal, and other aches and pains pop up. Keep doing what you are doing - enjoy life as much as you can, while you can.
We will, thank you. X
I adore the fitted Welsh dresser. Really characterful, pretty and practical. And so lovely to see the whole boat painted out to avoid death by plywood!
I love that... death by plywood😅
F x
Glad you've put the Peak Forest Canal as your No1 spot. We live in New Mills and have the pleasure of walking the canal in all seasons. Hope to see you and have a chat at some point. Rich, hope the leg improves sufficiently for you to enjoy the area to the full.
We loved it all around new mills. Looking forward to being back there.
Peak Forest Canal definitely our number one too. Great vlog, thanks for not showing Rich’s bruises! 😅 xxxx
Oh sorry, were you disappointed? 😂
No! No! No! No! 😂😂😬
Those horses on the bridge are fantabulous! Thanks, Fran and Rich, for another swell vlog!
Sorry that you have both been in the wars but thanks so much for the memories of your two years afloat. Whatever you decide to do, please continue to keep us all entertained with your friendly, relaxed and entertaining style. For all the trials and tribulations you must also have on a daily basis, your eternal optimism and enthusiasm for the life you lead shines through. We are all in your debt......!
Thank you so much for that lovely comment. We do try to show it as it is with warts and all, but there is no point in letting problems get you down. Thanks for watching. F x
If you’re members of RCR - they offer services during the winter. Their guy turned up when we’d booked him to, and seemed much cheaper than the marina we used previous year.
We did try RCR, but they were overbooked for the area we were in. We think we have found someone now though, thank you.
Thank you for starting your channel and allowing us to follow you around the country. It's been an absolute pleasure from the start and two years down I look forward to many more years of adventures with you. I hope you are getting better Rich so you can do all those walks you plan on soon x
We love sharing our experiences, thank you for watching.
We have spent the last few weeks going through all your vlogs from day one and have still quite a lot more to watch yet, before we reach your latest vlog. We just wish we were at the age you are, but now both in our mid seventies, it's a bit too late in our lives to take to living afloat on a permanent basis, as we are not as agile as we were twenty years ago. However we can still enjoy exploring our beautiful countryside with you both on your travels. Reflecting on this episode of your favourite l canals, takes me back to the 1970s when I was involved with the restoration of the Caldon Canal around Cheddleton, where we then lived. This canal back then was in a very sad state and for us is now one of the nicest canals in the country. We are so glad you managed to get through Froghall Tunnel, although not very long, is I belive, the lowest navigable tunnel in the country. We now live in Tamworth near to where Richards brother lives at Fazely. We have two sons and two grandchildren who still live in Leek and Cheddleton, so we often manage to walk the Caldon and go for a pint in the Boat Inn as well as the remote Black Pub at Consall Forge and the steam railway. Whilst writing this, I just realised we had not subscribed, but we have now and will be following you from now on. You are a lovely couple and thank you for sharing your adventure with us, we are thouroughly enjoying it. Oh and congratulations on your wedding last year.
All the Best and stay safe.
Geoff & Wendy.
Hi Geoff and Wendy thank you so much for your lovely message. Isn't it a small world. N we absolutely loved being on the Leek and Caldon canal and look forward to going back again.
I follow many of the Narrowboat channels, including this one. They appeal to a certain fantasy we have of freedom, abandoning the constraints of our housebound lives. The British canals are wild yet safe and small at the same time. I wonder if we’ll see the effects of Covid-19 on this little world, or if fantasy and reality will collide. Will stay tuned.
Cheers to two years. How time flies when you are having fun....... Thanks again for taking the time to share your adventures and all the best in the new adventures to come. Rich, you may want to check around for any rickshaw rentals so that Fran can take you for walks on the toe path...... ;) Get well soon
I just love this video. So good to see Rich on four legs...the pups look happier and so does Fran. I think the "poor babies" helped. I am going to go look up the Peak Forest canal and take another peek. You just made my day...xoxo Merry Ann from Minnesota
So nice to hear you enjoyed and appreciated it here “oop north “ there will be a flat cap and a whippet on a string waiting for you on your return you will be most welcome .terry from West Yorkshire
Fran, just get cake making . We all will feel better. Cheers
Need to get up on the Lancaster canal...no locks at all except if you divert down to Glasson Dock.....
Happy Constanza Anniversary!
Alreaddy two years? I've been with you all the way. From the first glimpses of your moving out of the house. Bying a narrowboat. I've been there all the way. Surpriced that two years have gone. I feel like it was yesterday I found your vlog. Looking forward for the next two years 👍
Good luck with your foot 👌
It is so lovely when we see names coming up in the comments that have been with us for so long. it really dose feel like we get to know you a little. Thanks fo supporting us for such a long while. x
i wish you a speedy, recovery you two!
💫🌟🍀💐🌺🌸🍀🌼🍀🌻🌱🌿🍀💐🌸
Rich and Ms. Fran! So glad that it wasn't worse for you Rich taking a fall like that. I do think you should as a matter, of course, decide what's best for the two of you. I would think that a bigger boat would be a blessing for you, enough said. I wouldn't dismiss the idea of a new boat until you've looked into it. Whatever you decide I'm sure that it will be fine. I've watched you two for two years! Wow-what a ride! Thank-You so much for the wonderful memories!
Thank you for following us Mark. We know whatever decision we make we will be happy. We just want to continue cruising.
Ducking and diving must be a problem when CCing, try marinas who might take on staff for the new season ahead. You might find that they could sort out your bathroom etc as your working with them..
Fran you might have a Frozen shoulder. Look it up on YT there's lot of exercises you can do to remedy it.
Couple of years ago I suffered from frozen shoulder due to work stress. Doing the exercises for 3 weeks got me out of pain and being able to use my arm again. Wish you all the best ♥
Loved the video.... Rich and Fran both get better soon. I really hope I will meet up with you both one day. My plans changed a little yesterday, as Foxton locks opening has been delayed. So I am now heading back westish on the Leicester Line, going to go down the GU then down the Northampton arm. Then turn around and head north
That's the thing about this life Trev, as soon as you actually make a decision, something happens to change your mind. Wherever you go, you'll have a great time .
Well good luck with that ankle you'll be good as new in no time, congratulations on 2 years on the water and the 1 million views. You have a nice clean boat so fix a few things and take a nice vacation to somewhere you 2 always dreamed of going while you're still young and can move around without any problems, Time is taking it's toll on me my mom just had a stroke now i need to stay with here around the clock and that put a damper on all my plans. I love traveling along with all you boat tubers it really brings some happiness to some of us more than you could ever know. Again good luck and happy trails.
Thank you for that lovely comment Sam. Sounds like good advice. X
You guys should run a holiday on a boat adventure just like homestay concept where people get to witness organic lifestyle and live in a narrow boat. Its will be a fantastic treat for those people wanting to see and experience real England. It also gives an opportunity for people to learn a bit about British Canal history. There aren’t many things left in England these days that can be called a very English.
Hi Rajeev, that's s great idea, but we might need a bigger boat!
Thank you both for sharing your top five. Lovely vlog as always. Don’t push yourself too fast Rich with your bad leg and you will be hop skipping and jumping before you know it. Congratulations on your two years of narrow boating and the wonderful adventures you have taken us all on with you. Warmest regards William
So sorry to hear of your troubles, hope you soon get back to full health, take care.
Keep the boat mate, no one knows what the future may bring. I'm having a nightmare with all the problems that I'm having with my boat engine and with the work drying up since Christmas. too proud to sign on the dole
Sorry to hear that. It can certainly be a challenging life sometimes, but then so can life on land and we'd much rather become the boat. Hope you get sorted soon x
With me knowing the history of the future too, Rich I´m really sorry for you, first foot and then virus.
Hebden bridge....
I love the North...💟💞💖💕👍👍👍👍
That was a beautiful V-log guys ! Fran you look fabulous. Thank you both for sharing. xx Andrew.
What a great video it was so nice to see Rich walking around ,,how are you now Rich ,if you change you boat wold be nice to have more room on the Stern don’t you think ,,,go on do it ,it’s your life now You are true boaters now love you both take care,John
Thanks for your comment John. Whatever we decide, we'll be happy.
Hi Fran and Rich, So so pleased you have chosen the Peak Forest Canal as your number 1!! We have had a boat moored at Furness Vale about 10 yrs ago but had to give it up because we had very sulky teenagers! Now they no longer holiday with us we have just bought a new to us (very old 1974 boat!!) because unfortunately we still have 10 yrs left at work approx!! Just this week we have secured our boat and cant wait to get back on the cut....you are inspiring us so thank you!! We will moor on the peak forest canal if possible or the macc canal. Thanks for the wonderful vlogs you have increased our excitement!!!
That sounds familiar. Rich says he was one of those sulky teenagers when his parents had a boat. Congratulations on getting back on the cut.
You guys are fun to watch! Sorry Rich about the foot. Crutches are no fun. I broke my foot once. Made a cup of coffee, and then realized I could either stand there and drink it, or spill it trying to get back to the chair. lol But I think you're in good hands! Cheers! Looking forward to Spring here in the US, as I'm sure you guys are too!
Happy Canal Birthday 🎉🥃🍷🎂 sorry to hear about your arms & foot problems. I'm sure Gin will ease the Paine.
Good luck for the house sale..please don't come off the cut. Myself and 2,000 other viewers will so miss you.
Have fun 👍👨🏻🎨🎨😘Bob ,,ps went out & bought bag of Flour already have turmeric , made plane pancakes
🥞 scrmmy.
Ligaments are worse than a break. A break heals, ligaments will remain damaged, I know from experience. Look after yourselves. Stay safe guys and look after yourselves. Love the Vlogs.
Congrats on the million views (no surprise,if anyone took the time to watch your channel)Hope you’re back on your feet again soon! and please keep these great videos coming, you do such a great job !
Ohhhhhh,I feel for you! As I mentioned earlier, I torn my anterior tibialis tendon...they put me in a boot for 10 weeks. A year later, it can be tender if I walk too much. Hubby sprained his ankle (which we learned was a tendon). Wishing you a total recovery!! (Fran, I have a bum shoulder like you too!). Wishing you well too!! ❤️
I think it may be an age thing for us. We are both going to try yoga now!!!
Must have missed this one .... 2 yrs!!!! Wishing you all the best 👍🏽
Thank you
So sorry to hear you are both a little under the weather. Hope you start to feel better soon and are both fighting fit for the warmer cruising weather. Keep taking the tablets. :-)
Hope you feel better. Injury at our age slows us down. B/4 you know it you will be back to normal. God Bless.
Lovely video, many thanks for letting join you . Hope the foot not too painful and gets better with each passing day . Your boat looks great and with a few tweaks will do you well . Keep smiling both of you .👍😀
So sorry about Rich's foot. And Fran's shoulder injury. Get well soon! And thank you so much for sharing your 5 most memorable places. That was a lovely set of memories. Looking forward to your return to the Peak Forest. Happy cruising!
Hi Fran/Rich, thought it was time I left you a comment. We met you on the Ashby Canal - our home mooring.
You cruised past us in our mooring then we spoke to you both at Bosworth marina entrance ( don’t expect you to remember though. )
I’ve now caught up on all your vlogs and think you’re an inspiration to all boaters and wannabe boaters 👍.
Anyway, speedy recovery Rich and hope to see you on the network again soon 🍻
Hi Kathryn. Thanks for commenting. Was is you who gave us some soap nuts as we went past?
This is the episode that encouraged me to go back to Episode 1 :)
Wow, seems such a long time ago
Looking a bit more upbeat there Rich glad to see you're a bit more mobile! 👍
Sorry to hear you've both had ailments and hope you're much better now x
We're fine now Alan. We do wonder if it was the dreaded virus! Hope you're well. X
The main thing is you’re over it now. I’m fine thanks, managed to fit 4 days cruising in, just locally x
Sorry to hear about your injuries and I like your attitude to keep pushing on and bare it . I hope you keep your boat and do the improvements you need . Get well soon both of of you :-)
Thank you
My goodness that’s gone in the blink of an eye! Proof the old saying “time flies when you’re enjoying yourself “ is true 😁 I wonder what Boatman Ben is up to these days. Every time I see your boat I love it, it’s so homely. I think the sell or stay really depends on the size. If you believe Constanza is big enough for you to enjoy life over the next 10 to 20 years, stay and do the improvements you want. However, if you have any doubts about her size I would sell, unless you feel up to stretching her! We made enquiries about adding 7 to 8 foot to our 45 foot boat and it was roughly £1k per foot then but then the questions of power for a bigger boat begin to complicate things. Our engine was OK and to be honest I’d be happy with candle light! There some decent second hand boats on the market at about 50k at the moment and I was almost tempted to look at one a couple of weeks ago but I forced myself to look away because I know with my parents at 89 and 90 the only people to benefit from the purchase would be a marina. I live in hope that in the future I will have another boat so Me and the dogs can get away from it all. As always thanks for sharing your adventure. I hope Rich is on the mend and that his liver is surviving the treatment! x
Bless ya
I hope you get better soon
Rich
Sending healing prayers and hugs 🤗 xx
Like a bird in a tree........missed that tooooon! Might I just add that Frans selfie stick holding is so much more poised😉👍🏼
I really like how you two filmed this - moving to different areas of the boat - was really good!
We just thought that to film it in different places at different times would be more interesting
Took me a week or two, but I've caught up on all the vlogs. Thank you both for sharing your lives with all of us! I am looking forward to see where life takes you! Thank you. #stuckinamerica #francrush
Well done. You must be sick of us now 😂👍
@@FloatingOurBoat Definitely not. You all have a wonderful story to share and I thank you for sharing!
Hope your on the mend Rich....as an ex Derbyshire boy living in Lincolnshire....love your 1st choice
I think that's your best video yet. It's been great following your adventures. I've loved being able to hear of your development as you've learnt about things going along. It's also noticeable how you've both become more comfortable in front of the camera. For this film it honestly felt like I was on the boat and you were both just talking to me like friends I've never actually met. I imagine that exploring the areas you pass is imperative to making the whole transfer from landlubbers to boaters work. If you don't there could be a danger of developing tunnel vision, stagnating, becoming board with the whole thing and feeling that the grass is greener living in bricks and mortar. For domestic reasons I will probably never live on a canal boat, so I'm making the most of living vicariously through your vlogs and may there be many more. Cheers
Thank you for that lovely comment Geoff. We do feel like we are talking to friends sometimes, so many familiar names come up in the comments. It is lovely. Exploring off the canal was one of the reasons we started doing this. There are so many wonderful places we have never seen and now we get to live there for a while. Thank you for watching us. X
Sorry to here about your fall and injury, we will pray for you to get better quick. and yes keep up the great videos.
Thank you
Don't you feel so lucky. Only two years in and you had a hard time getting the list of great experiences down to five from a long list. Hope the house sale goes through and you enjoy the fruits of the sale for years to come. Regardless of where you are in the world today, it seems hard to get any type work done. Myself, I am at the stage in life for the living part and leaving a lot of other things I need done to those who make a living doing them. Trouble is finding them!! GOOD LUCK and enjoy and thanks for allowing us to come along for the good stuff.
You are so right. To have too many good memories over the last too years is certainly a great dilemma to have. Love your view of leaving jobs to those who need to do them. X
Congrats on your two year anniversary aboard Constanze! Very glad to see Rich getting out and about a bit. I am impressed with how you manage to take it all in stride.
Suggestion. What if you sold the house and bought you a new boat, but keep your current boat and use it as your income. It would always be on the cut and so would you. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. lol. Or is there a market for that sort of thing? Just thinking. :-)
Lovely video, thank you. I'm excited to see what path you take with the boat. Also, your choices for the top places you'd visited were most interesting. You didn't mention the Ashby Canal, which is good, as that's one many people mention. Variety always appreciated. 😊
The Ashby was high on the big list. It was difficult to cut it down.
What a marvelous adventure ("journey" lol) you've had so far. I know that I'VE loved every minute of it. You are truly blessed to be able to do the things you're doing. So happy for you!
My favourite stretch of canal as well.
Keep well
Thank you for your wonderful videos. We were thinking of you two and hope you are well and safe. Take care, cheers from Canada R&D
We're fine thank you. Hope you are too x
Lovely memories for you both.
If I lived in England, I’d give you a hand working on your boat. I love that type of work.
Maybe a new boat with an extra bedroom for paying guests lol....🤩
Keep up the great videos!
Erm, the dogs snore too loudly, so... Maybe not!
?butty boat
Hope you recover soon.
Good luck with your boat decision and future travels.
I tried your recipe and they were delicious.
Nice to see the sympathy from Fran, don't worry my wife's the same. :)
Great to see you up and around though I know soft tissue injuries take awhile to heal.
looking forward to the next vlog
I hope you both get better soon. 😊
HOPE YOU BOTH GET WELL SOON
Face piles of trials with smiles,I remember from my musical past.Forging ahead!!
Good ol' Moodies 👍
Take care you two. Love your videos. Thank you from Arizona!
You are my number one. I always feel happy after watching you and now I have a share in a Narrowboat so can’t wait for April for our first week on board this year.
Well done. Where will you be going? Fran and Rich xx
Floating Our Boat We are based at Braunston so will make a decision after checking Website
Oohhh dear was just saying to Richie before we saw this, we must be careful, if we damage ourselves the kids will say..we are to old to be doing it, I've never climbed a lock ladder, hope your back up and running soonxx
Just keep going and prove the kids wrong. I guess I would climb a lock ladder if I had to, but out view is not to take any risks if not necessary. F x
I just came across this...wondering if Rich got covid when he went to the Dr. for his foot. My heart is really going out to you two. I look to you for a real feel for canal life...thank you for being real! Take good care of yourselves.
Hi Patty. We really don't know but suspect it may be when we went to London to visit family and used a hire car, petrol stations and a hotel!!
Great to see Rich up and about, hope you both heal quickly :) Happy 2 year anniversary :)
Really enjoyed your vlog, love the chat about your favourite places. Get well soon both of you and looking forward to your spring cruise. Take care xx
When you said your going to mention 5 favourite places I immediately though the Peak Forest as to date it's also our most favourite canal. Stunning!
Enjoyed your top 5 places but especially number 1 as I live in the High Peak area of Derbyshire!
Brilliant vlog guys,well done 😁👍👏👏👏
Love you guys. Always a pleasure to see a new vlog. I hope our boats cross one day 🙂
Sorry to hear you not well get batter soon all the bast to both
Wish you both a speed recovery. Congrats on your well deserved 1 million viewers. Always looking to next vlog. Stay safe. Thank you for sharing.
Great video guys
Thanks for sharing your memories with us, lovely vlog. Stay safe and warm. Regards AJ
Lovely video folks 😀👍🏻👏🏻
I'm glad Rich is mobile (no crutches) and guessing that, starting at 4:36 this was recorded "after" Rich's little spill? ;-)
I'm calling it a little spill because at six years old I was on crutches for two years (then open heart surgery | 1964).
I am so enjoying following you both, it’s helps me get through my night shift. It seems you have found the balance of a wonderful life, here’s to the next 2 years jac ❤️❤️❤️
Fran goes down like a sack of spuds, shakes it off like wonder women, rich falls down call the air ambulance & nurses😆😆
P.s I'd go the way of Timothy spall get a boat like his Matilda & head down the coast Scotland or go to France.
Hi
I know the feeling...
On chuche myself.
Thinking best rest...
Hope you'll be back on you're feet soon ..
Take care
Hope your various aches and pains soon clear up. Congratulations on the million viewers! Wow! Good luck with the decision making. I look forward to hearing what you do.
So glad my neck of the woods is on your list, I live Sowerby Bridge 😁 Gallows pole is a great book, those Stag men of Yorkshire 🙂
Thanks for sharing, good memories for you there.going back a bit now but gallows pole was a track from a led zeppelin album, don’t know if it’s related to the story in the book? Take care ,hope the house gets settled.
Hi Robert. I think the link is just that they both were hanged. Not relating to the coiners in the book as such. Thanks
Lovely video, you both seem pretty upbeat and that’s really good to see. Looking forward to more adventures so I hope Rich’s leg will be up to lots more walking and exploring soon xx
Thank you Rita. We'll be back to normal soon. X

Lovely watched a few videos of yous travelling great couple buzz off yous keep on going it looks a bit hard living on the canal but I would love to give it a go looks challenging in ways as opening the locks especially when weather is bad .
Loved your top 5, the only one we haven't been to is the upper Thames. Bad luck with the ankle Rich.
Thank you Harley
A special video. Thanks.
