Katie: "Many of them I cannot pronounce" Me, try's to pronounce some of the words: "yhkcmfnkgkkfkdsefxp" Me after I realize that my mom was standing right beside me while I said that: 👁 👄 👁
That and the fact that she admits she got the instructions wrong, and made it wrong. It would be good to see what happens if it's made correctly. I don't think it's entirely fair to say it wasn't right when it wasn't made correctly in the first place!
You had an ingredient in an insufficient amount to the recipe - a potential issue. Polydorbate 80 added when the batch was too cool, so didn't activate properly, def an issue. I'm willing to bet the finished product is closer to what was intended if made correctly with the right amount of ingredients supplied for the kit.
If the formula uses E-wax as the main emulsifier, it will never have a gel-like texture. E-wax makes traditional slightly greasy lotions and creams; no amount of gel-making ingredients will change that. It might have been a bit thicker if Katie followed the instructions exactly - but would never feel like The Body Shop's product. [Amateur cosmetic formulator here. I've tried e-wax and Polawax and don't like them.]
And if you're making your own soap for home use you would be able to reuse the bottles many many times without changing labels and not have to worry about the label not matching the soap inside.
The first thing I do whenever I buy a soap or lotion or candle in a nice container is always rip that ish OFF. I don't want it. I don't need it. Get it out of here!
My favorite part of Soapmas is just knowing that at the end of the day when I get into bed I know there will be a video and I can just relax and watch Katie laugh and make something fun.
Please tell me if I’m wrong, but didn’t it come out that The body shop is kinda/is a Multi-level marketing scheme? I’ve read the stories and articles about this. Rather concerned that She bought from a Pyramid scheme. If I’m wrong I apologize
They were originally just sold in stores, then they opened up an MLM branch. 😔 super disappointing. But it isn't primarily MLM, they're also sold in Ulta!
To be absolutely fair, if you're adding a s&h fee to the wsp orders, it should be whatever each company has for s&h as well. Not everyone has an Ulta or Bath and Body near them (ie, for me its about 50 miles to my closest for both stores) so the s&h fee would make a difference. Either way it is pretty cool you did this, because they would all make great gifts.
I think the difference is many people do have the option to go in person and not pay shipping at B&BW, while ordering from the other company’s website and paying shipping is the only option for everyone. One is a brick and mortar store and the other is online only so as a whole the process from buying from them is different for most people, not to mention B&BW doesn’t have a handling fee at all even when you have to pay shipping.
@@loray2k for the most part it is only $5.99. Also given the fact that we sell soaps for 6/$26, the cost of 18 soaps plus shipping is still cheaper than the WSP price; not to mention you have to buy the soap bottles from WSP.
I work for Bath and Body works and the hand soaps are almost always on sale. The deal is 6 for $26 or 4 for $20, so it’s actually cheaper to buy the BBW hand soap!
I’m Irish and we don’t have Bath and Body Works here but even I know you don’t buy hand soaps there at full price 😂 They go to half price really regularly!
Frosted Cranberry is the best scent! Am I the only one sitting here wondering if anyone ever pays 7.50 for Bath and Body soaps? I only buy those on sale. 🤣
I refuse to buy anything full price at bath and body works. I'm pretty sure the sale price is the price they actually want you to pay and the listed price is just so you think you're saving a lot on sales..
@@nyaboo13 Associate here! We almost always have a 4 for $20, or 6 for $26. The latter being the best price, because you save a ton. The only time you 'technically' pay full price for Body Care, Soaps, or Wallflowers is if you don't take advantage of the everyday deals. Meaning only buying 3 soaps for $22.50, or one full priced body care instead of buy 2 get 1.
Girl, if you want a good lotion for washing your hands often, I recommend O'Keeffee's 'Working Hands'. It's not oily, greasy, or watery. One of the prominent ingredients is paraffin, so it's almost a waxy texture. However, it soaks into the skin really well. I work with my hands as an electrical assembler and this lotion has really been a god send. Love your video's btw!
Use Dr.Bronners in my foaming soap pump. I put about 1/4 ratio of soap to water in the pump, give it a gentle swirl ahd bamn good to go. You can use a higher or lower soap to water concentration depending on density of foam you like.
Honestly, having body shop duplications so you'd never have to buy from that scam company is something I'm all in favour for, especially lemon-scented products. Probably even more ethically tested too
The Body Shop ingredient list is there, you lift the label on the bottom right corner, there’s a little ‘fold’ image there to lift up 😊 (usually that’s where they are & I could see the fold pic)
I recently bought from WSP and my order qualified for free shipping at $25 I believe, so might be slightly more cost effective than this, but it is still less cost effective than a discount soap from b&b
Hi, Katie. I really like your videos, they're always very nice and funny (in a good way? hahaha). But… always have a but, right? As a Pharmacist myself, I find a little bit troublesome when influencer/youtubers with a large audience say things like: less "weird things" or "don't know how to said it" (with a bad connotation) when talking about chemical substances. Because as you know, everything is chemical, and having a "difficult/weird" name doesn't mean it's bad or toxic. And for the non-verse viewer can send a wrong message. For example: Dihydrogen monoxide… strange, right? But it's water. Even your products have "difficult" names for the average viewer like: BTMS 50 [Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Cetyl Alcohol, Butylene Glycol] or Cocamidopropyl Betaine.
Wholesale Supplies has been slipping as of late. Customer service sucks and their prices have gone through the roof. It's great if you just want to say you made it yourself, but it's not cost effective (your time has value, too).
Although it does cost $5.99 or something like that for shipping for Bath and Bodyworks also I know this almost too well but I also buy them when they’re on sale for $3.50 a piece.
I mean you can just get the kit, buy them on sale, and then just mix up a batch of soap to refill the bottles when they are all used up; cheaper than having to drive to the store and factor in the cost of gas plus the cost of the soap, and if you B&BW is in a mall you have to end up paying for parking so tack on another like 3 dollars for that. I would rather just make my own refills at that point and call it a day
@@michealpersicko9531 I watched this almost a year ago I’m not even sure what it was exactly all about. I'm so shocked that the tiny bottle of micellar water costs you 5$ in the US. In Germany, you can buy this exact product in a bigger bottle (about 500ml) for 3€, that's insane 😳
I just received my December-release sampler pack and I'm in love!!! Thank you for making samplers available, it's a wonderful way to go if you can't decide which full-bar to buy. (Question, if anyone knows: The samplers come each soap piece packaged in it's own little plastic packaging, but it's not air-tight, will the soap suffer at all if kept in the packaging for awhile? I plan on displaying them for awhile before using them, but unsure if I need to take them out of the packaging first.)
The thing about foaming hand soaps is, the bottle is more important than the soap you put in it. I've got a foaming bottle that has fill lines on it (it has to be mostly water or the mechanism gums up) and I just use Dr. Bronner's natural castile soap, It's great.
My favorite lotion I've ever found is gloves in a bottle. It may take a minute to dry but it doesn't get washed away when you wash your hands 30 zillion times a day (chef) it has helped keep my hands from breaking down as much as they have in the past couple winters

I make my own sulfate free base.. mixing three different surfactants... along with some other natural goodies and love it.. very easy also... and it costs me about 2.50 for 8 fl ounces..
I really love your videos! I think its so weird they call that kits "self made". Like of course you make something yourself, but not from the ground. I mean for example the soap. You have the base and just have to add the scent. I am a drugist/chemist ib Switzerland and in training we learned how to make medicaments and body products yourself. For example a gel: we didn't have like the base and just added the extra stuff. Like we actually just had all the ingredients (for example a gel is made out of a chemical powder (So sorry, I forgot the name haha) and you mix it with water (I think lol its some years ago) and then you got your gel base) would be cool if you could actually make something like this, I could send you the recipes and how to make them. We actually made such a good handcream once!
I know a lot of people prefer liquid hand soap, but especially right now when we’re all still washing our hands aaaaallll day forever detergents (sulfate based soap as she is saying) are really drying! If you are having a lot of trouble with cracking or just very dry skin, try swapping to a real soap bar (not a detergent bar! A real soap bar)
This inspired me to try out the Lemon Body Yogurt, actually. I hate lotion that I can still feel on my skin so this sounds right up my alley, especially since citrus scents are my favorite. The micellar water kit looks pretty good, though!
Idk.. the hand soap from bath and body works, we always use coupons make it super cheap. while the diy kit is nice, its too expensive for something that is "wholesale" price
i'm all for DIY, but you can get those foaming hand soaps on sale at BBW for around 2.50! (20% off coupon + sale) You just have to wait for the sale to come around! I'm an ex-employee, if your wondering :)
I feel like 16 soaps seems a lot more doable if you work at a school or I guess an office and want to get/make a little gift for everyone, or as like a party favor or something, and it's super easy to make
Except, I can buy 18 soaps at B&BW for $78 taking advantage of the 6 for $26 sale. Even when I order online, the shipping will normally only be $5.99, meaning I'm still spending less than the WSP price. I mean, it's the thought that counts yes; but you're still saving money buying from B&BW.
It kinda looked like your yogurt broke when you put preservative in.. it looked thicker before you added it... that happens sometimes.. especially with lucidal sf.. probably would have helped for you to mix it more with the bender afterwards.. not sure how much you actually did.. also not sure what you used as a thickener afterwards was... the cetyl alcohol is a thickener and the emulsifying was probably had one also...

I think the body yogurt should be redone maybe that gelatin wasn’t heated up enough.
@@knobgobbler3000 agreed, however, I would still be interested in seeing the kit redone properly to actually see how it turns out then
That and the fact that she admits she got the instructions wrong, and made it wrong.

I actually like that they don't have labels because it's better for recycling.
And if you're making your own soap for home use you would be able to reuse the bottles many many times without changing labels and not have to worry about the label not matching the soap inside.
A person who is selling it should want their own brand on it anyway
@Jen Thompson But she should have added shipping for the B&BW products too. Since most people shop online now because of COVID.
@@loray2k for the most part it is only $5.99. Also given the fact that we sell soaps for 6/$26, the cost of 18 soaps plus shipping is still cheaper than the WSP price; not to mention you have to buy the soap bottles from WSP.
Exacly
I work for Bath and Body works and the hand soaps are almost always on sale. The deal is 6 for $26 or 4 for $20, so it’s actually cheaper to buy the BBW hand soap!
I’m Irish and we don’t have Bath and Body Works here but even I know you don’t buy hand soaps there at full price 😂 They go to half price really regularly!
This is such a random and useless thing to know and I love that you know it. 😂
I wait until their $3 hand soap sales to stock up
Woah wait am I the only one who thought they always had some sort of sale going on? Am I just lucky and catch all their stuff on sale?
I have an addiction to Bath and Body
Seconding O'keefe's! I use it as a retail worker, washing my hands a lot.
Use Dr.Bronners in my foaming soap pump. I put about 1/4 ratio of soap to water in the pump, give it a gentle swirl ahd bamn good to go. You can use a higher or lower soap to water concentration depending on density of foam you like.
5 AM in Finland, this made staying up late feel like a very wise decision! 😄
They sell the Micellar water at Walmart in bigger containers for cheaper
What the heck is Micellar water btw??
Honestly, having body shop duplications so you'd never have to buy from that scam company is something I'm all in favour for, especially lemon-scented products. Probably even more ethically tested too
The Body Shop ingredient list is there, you lift the label on the bottom right corner, there’s a little ‘fold’ image there to lift up 😊 (usually that’s where they are & I could see the fold pic)
Yeah but B&B has pretty good discounts in bulk too.
I recently bought from WSP and my order qualified for free shipping at $25 I believe, so might be slightly more cost effective than this, but it is still less cost effective than a discount soap from b&b
Hi! I love you so much please please pretty please with a cherry on top make a chocolate chip cookie dough soap! 🤩💋💖
Hi, Katie. I really like your videos, they're always very nice and funny (in a good way? hahaha). But… always have a but, right? As a Pharmacist myself, I
find a little bit troublesome when influencer/youtubers with a large audience say things like: less "weird things" or "don't know how to said it" (with a bad connotation) when talking about chemical substances.
I’ve become completely engrossed in this soap channel and I’d be lying if I said it didn’t help my mental health lmaO
Thank you Katie
Katie: Because its black Friday
Me: its a week till Christmas...
Also me: Oh wait things have to be recorded in advance. Haha I'm so smart
time is confusing, ain't it?
I can however tell you we don’t pay for parking for anywhere, even the mall I live in Vegas not California, that’s one out of 1000 reasons why they move here, poor guys have to pay to park to grocery shop for crying out loud.
Please please please do more dupe kits. TBH I love a good buy vs. DIY, and this was a FUN TIME.
Three hours later and the micellar water is already sold out. WSP needs to send her some (more?) free stuff.

I make my cheater foaming hand soap. I buy the large bottle of liquid hand soap i like & add distilled water. I reuse the dispensers i already had. Sooooo cheap & easy to make. But don’t use dollar tree soap for this trick
My mom does the same! I didn't know you could do that until she showed me.
Breeding ground for bacteria unless you also add additional preservative
I'm so shocked that the tiny bottle of micellar water costs you 5$ in the US. In Germany, you can buy this exact product in a bigger bottle (about 500ml) for 3€, that's insane 😳
WHERE IS CLAIRE TO READ HER FAVORITE PART -- THE INGREDIENTS!
Bath and body works foaming hand soap is SO incredibly drying. Which makes you wanna put on lotion, I refuse to buy it.
Almost everyone: IM FIRST!!!
Me: Well not until you press refresh
Lol
“The point of this makeup is not to look good” 😂😂😂
The thing about foaming hand soaps is, the bottle is more important than the soap you put in it.
Totally good with the body yogurt dupe, if only because The Body Shop is an MLM so I don't support them.
Same, I used to love their stuff but I stopped supporting them when I found out about their MLM branch.
Yay ur back! I was so worried yesterday!
You can tell Katie has been watching acorn TV when the occasional British accent comes out just a little. She's so adorable

Is that the rare case of something being smaller in the US lol
@@liesbeth5742 Huh, that's interesting o:

not the point of this video but WOW am i impressed with that micell water. like i heard people say it's good but i've never tried it. i'm really impressed! does it make your skin dry at all? I currently use a cleansing oil cuz it was the only thing that got my mascara off completely without making my skin feel like a desert but i might give this a try
Katie sweets greetings from Houston! You are such an inspiration both encouraged me to open my soap shop and start a channel! You are a jewel
Oh hell no those prices on the foaming hand soap are ridicules. I refill my bath and body works foaming hand soaps with Blueland which comes in little tablets you dissolve in water. They are much more eco friendly and only $1.50 a refill and they smell AMAZING.
Hey Katie, kinda not related to this video but are you an affiliate of Mad Micas? I was looking at buying some of their product, and since I can't afford the shipping cost on your gorgeous soaps as I live in the UK, would love to support you via an affiliate link if possible. You make me smile every video and I'm just absolutely mesmerised by your creativity and bubbly character ☺️💕
I love watching you test the kits!
How is it legal for them to sell you a kit that needs 2oz of something, but they only give you 1.65oz of that thing?!
They charge handling and shipping, the greed is amazing
$14 just to get it send out 😵😵
Free shipping with WPS Is $25.00 and up
I feel like 16 soaps seems a lot more doable if you work at a school or I guess an office and want to get/make a little gift for everyone, or as like a party favor or something, and it's super easy to make
Except, I can buy 18 soaps at B&BW for $78 taking advantage of the 6 for $26 sale. Even when I order online, the shipping will normally only be $5.99, meaning I'm still spending less than the WSP price. I mean, it's the thought that counts yes; but you're still saving money buying from B&BW.
@@smolshay hey look at Katie's comment. It can still be comparable.
This 100%!! Have to be careful with preservative breaking the yogurt/lotion! I was also very curious what was used as a thickener after the fact..
SO MUCH GOOD CONTENT IN THE PAST FEW DAYS

Yes I would love to see more dupes. I had been making my own foam soap out of baby soap and distilled water. But I love your channel. I learn so much. Thank you for sharing, being engaging and entertaining.
Bath & Body always has soaps on sale too, so you'd rarely have to pay the full price of $7.50
I though WSP only charges shipping on anything under $25. Has that changed?
No you are right
But if you order all three at the same time, is there not only one 5.99 handling fee? Or is the fee per item?
Outloud 'yaaaay new Royalty Soaps video!' yelled to my mom as soon as I saw this! I really like that you always do the price comparisons, that can definitely be a deciding factor especially if the results are fairly similar.
My soaps are going to be here on Monday and I'm SO EXCITEDDDD! I've been trying to support small businesses this Christmas for all of my gifts. I'm happy to support you and all of your content 💜
Should have said (once soap on time) haha 0:03
I go thru b and b foaming soap like crap thru a goose cuz im a handwashing addict. But i always get it 6 for 26 plus tax is about 28.50. Thats about 5 and some change a bottle. If these were more actually creative or fun it might be worth it.
That cotton pad trick for micellar water blew my mind.
Honestly, after recently learning that B&BW tends to steal content from people, I’d much rather buy a dupe.
Commenting before watching the full video btw
Do they really? How? Packaging images and fragrances and stuff? I worked there for a couple months in high school and it was just the most miserable work environment and nastiest managers. I haven’t purchased anything there since I quit, which was like fifteen years ago!
@@thebadpoet I only specifically know they stole some ip from Cristine (simplynailogical) and she had a dispute with them. She talks about it in a podcast, and they didnt really handle it in a great way in responses back to her. Either way Ive never been in a b&bw where anyone seems happy to work there, which is sad :/
Have your husband do a blind test on you to see if you can guess the bath and body works one
You said you accidentally forgot to add an ingredient at the right time when making the body yogurt, so if you had made it correctly do you think it would be a closer dupe or do you think it still would've been the same?
Why do I keep thinking it wap and not wsp
I have to watch a lot of scents because most florals give me an instant headache so stuff like Lavender is totally out. However.....Bath & Body Works came out with this body spray, shower gel-and line of products with a fragrance called Birch & Argan Oil. I loved it. I didn't get a headache, it was relaxing and I felt like it made me smell good. Just when I had finally found an open Bath & Body Works store-they were out and sadly no longer was selling the Birch
& Argan Oil line. KATIE.....I NEED THIS IN MY LIFE and since you are the QUEEN of soaps and all things wonderful in soap and suds and Duping, please please I beg of you my Spirit Animal, please make a dupe. I'll sell plasma for it.
As a make-up wearer. You have definitely inspired me to make some Floral Micellar Cleansing Water....maybe some hand wash also....thank you so much...

Hey Katie, as a Bath & Body Works associate, I just wanted to point out that it's STILL cheaper to buy the soap instead of make it. Because B&BW is always running a 6 for $26 deal on Soaps. Meaning I can buy 18 soaps for $78. No shipping if I go in store, but if I order online I will only pay 5.99 in shipping(for most states). Meaning I'm still spending less to buy them, than make them!
