I'm so grateful that I get to occasionally work with brands I actually like to create sponsored videos. Their direct support helps keep this channel afloat in the ever unstable world of RUclips ad revenue. These videos will always be disclosed, of course, and I appreciate everyone's kind support for these partnerships. Royalty Soaps also participates in commission or discount affiliations, like Amazon or RewardStyle, as these opportunities become available, like Amazon and RewardStyle and while the money we make with these links isn't much, every little bit counts and once again, we really appreciate your support! These products will always be marked and disclosed with a "✦".
I love that this video can be summed up as "Katie didn't watch the squishy video as closely as she thought"
Who else is watching this and asking where the sand paper is? Gotta rough it up! 🤣🤣.
☄️ this is a cool emoji
yup
Me
Same
@@bethanyspriggs wow I haven't seen that that emoji before! That is very cool :)
Imagine a collab where they both get the same inspiration picture, Katie makes a soap based on it and Moriah makes a squishy
Katie + missing every time Moriah says she takes days to work on a single squishy.
Also apparently never having seen any of the episodes involving the BOX of bread-related squishies!
XD riight
@@leahgroess5361 worst part was I think it was a slice of cake roll but it just didn't have detail. But I guess my rye bread does also look like that.
Considering Moriah does like, 4 max per squishy makeover episode over the span of like, a week! Yeah, it’s a wee bit more extensive than I think Katie first thought lol!
@@salems.bytche It's probably even more ! I'm pretty sure she has multiplie projects/videos going on at the same time and the one completed goes out that week 😆
I love that you are showing all your followers that making mistakes isn't a disaster. It is a reason to do more research and get better. You now know way more than you did about painting squishies and that's awesome =D
🙌
The paint will stick so much easier if you sand them first! That way it makes tons of tiny tiny holes so that the paint soaks into easier. Moriah wears a mask though, so she doesn’t inhale... squishy dust.
Gotta avoid that squishy dust
@@salty_moss of course, you don't want to die from squishy inhalation
Porous, that's the word you are looking for.
In one part she said the squishies were porous, so they will be fine
I think Katie only said the edges were porous and not the whole squishy but maybe I missed that part…
Tips: mixing the puffy paint with the soft matte makes an even coverage. And always do thin layers for it to dry faster and more even in drying and in color.
time for a Royalty soaps Moriah Elizabeth collab ME can send Katie pictures of some of her Squishies and let her make soaps based on them and Moriah can make soaps and make squishy based on them
also funny that i found this channel Moriah Evan and Kaitlyn all independent of each other (nerdycrafter i found cause of the 2020 wrap up yall did
Yesss!!! ♡
I was thinking the same thing
Your sentence makes no sense at the end...but that would be a great idea
I love Moriah Elizabeth's series! Squishies are so fun to decorate!
Same!
Yes
FINGERS DOWN MY SPIIINNNNEE
Katie could make a Moriah Elizabeth inspired soap. Rainbows, sprinkles, dessert or animal embeds, pastels,
it would be so cute!
Katie: I do not want to paint many layers
The paint: I will cause problems
The paint truly chose violence
@@wishihadaukelele nah, we love Katie, but poor paint really had no options here... it wasn't even diluted... 😅
Please do more of these. Also, pro tip- please sand the squishies before painting
I love how Katie treats every craft as equal to her own
It would be so cute to make a state fair soap set with Cotten candy and popcorn!,
Moriah mixes soft matte fabric paint with the puffy paint to get the paintable texture, FYI!
LOOOOOL Katie holding a cat slipper being like "Cat, pineapple, shoe" and laughing my head off. XD
Me, with crippling anxiety and a fear of failure, before trying any new craft: HOURS of research on the process, techniques, art supplies, and everything that could go wrong
Every youtuber apparently: SCREW IT we're goin in blind boys
Same here. But I am trying to change my patterns ☺️
It makes for more entertaining videos if they're trying it blind, but they're not trying to teach anyone how to do the craft in those. if you're wanting to learn a new skill, then do the research first, it'll make getting started a bit better.
@@elizapi314 I'm sure, Katie did a little research, too. At least she watched a whole lot of Moriah Elizabeth videos 😅 Mykah and I though tend to over-research. Like, if we wanted to sew a bag, we wouldn't just by the yarn, fabric and some needles. We would research the options like thickness, structure, properties of the material and, like, ten possible techniques to get the safest and best result 😅
@@elizapi314 Definitely more entertaining! The chaos is half the fun!! The comparison between that mindset and an anxiety riddled perfectionist's (e.g. me) is just funny to me 😂
I agree about the preparation level thanks to the anxiety, I get that a lot less these days thanks to experience in a wide variety of media, at some point though, I found it more enjoyable to experiment and see how good I could do without any influence. It's a whole different challenge when you go in blind with the only expectation to have fun.
"Is this a piece of bread??"
Maybe it was a cake roll? That's pretty common
We call that "Biskuitrolle" here haha and that even tho the cake has the same texture of a spongecake and not of a cookie xD
These "random" videos are my favorite. They shake things up from your normal content and we get to see a different side of you. We still get the creativity, but in a different outlet.
I think squishes are like cake decorating... Looks so much easier than it is. Some skills are learned the hard way... Squishes, cake decorating, soap making, pretty much every creative venture.
"I've been pretty obsessed with moriah elizabeth" proceeds to do.. all of that XD
I'm so early yes you should definitely make homemade squishies
Same naaaaaaaame
hah im early too
Ms. Moriah needs to make a squishy making 101 video with all the tips and tricks she’s learned over the years!
I, literally, just found Moriah Elizabeth's channel this past week and I've totally been binge watching her vids 😆. You guys should do a collab video or, like some kind of challenge to each other where maybe you have to do a soap based off one of her Squishies and she has to design a Squishie based on one of your soaps 🤷🏻♀️. Would be great to see you two Queens work together!
You are SO harsh a critic on yourself! They are all ADORABLE!!! I LOVE THEM! You should be proud!
The nectarine mint was one of the first soaps I tried from you, so I really like that squishy.
Moriah Elizabeth IS the queen of squishies. Thumbs up for both of you!
"inspired by moriah elizabeth"
ah yes a woman of culture i see
the shapes of some of those make me think they were an Adventure Time set LOL
When one of my favourite you tubers does a video inspired by another one of my favourite youtubers you know it’s going to be good
Just got my tutti fruity order in the mail! My hubby surprised me for Mother’s Day. You do such amazing work, thank you!!
You got the thumbs up with "Foreshadowing" 👍 Stellar.
One of my favorite youtubers referencing another one of my favorite youtubers? Absolutely wonderful!
My kids are obsessed with her videos! Your hair is super cute in this video xx
I actually really like the more painterly style! I think it could be fun to incorporate as a deliberate texture to contrast with a smoother, more uniform color application. Very cute!!
If your 4yr old son is running around yelling scrapey my tainey, you might watch too many soap videos. 😁
aww this made me smile so big! 😁 How sweet!!! Sending love to you & your family 💜
Thank you, you too. :)
Tainey?
@@averymarshall6060 4 year olds don’t pronounce well, so the kid pronounces. CONtainty. As just tainy.
@@MelodySharp. ohhhh I get it now, thank you
Love the stream of consciousness talk while you work 😊
from what i’ve seen most squishies are food-themed, animal-themed, or a mix of both!
Haha that chaotic table feels so familiar. It's like my table when I'm painting with watercolors. It's a mess. Paint palettes, colorful tissues, test swatches and brushes EVERYWHERE. But I love it. XD
I like how with the shadows from the shelves, it looks like you have a heavenly light around you 😂
This......I didn't know I needed this, but here we are loving it.
I’m happy your branching out to new things ❤️❤️
Yay! The algorithm is fixing itself! You showed up as the top video on my home page ❤️😍
Me having watch near all of moriahs videos knowing those paint brushes weren’t gonna work with that paint
As a painter, watching Katie struggle with layers and transparent paint is real.
Nectarine and mint is so cute. I love faces though, but they all came out great. Learn something new that would have helped a couple of years ago when I tried painting one. ☺️
Katie, I love your channel. We have to visit Dallas often because my son has a lot of medical issues. We never know when we will have to make the drive. Your upbeat attitude and wonderful personalty has gotten me through a lot of hospital stays with him. Thank you for your awesome channel.
i would love to see a katie/safiya/moriah/cristine/corinne collab, I’m already imagining them all interacting 😅
Use matte fabric paint! I think it dries easier, and Moriah uses it a ton!
Moriah Elizabeth: Goddess of Squishies
Sand paper everything, white base coats save paint, and if you want the colors to match your soap colors, mix your micas into your paint. For instance if your red is close but not quite right, mix in some of your mica red, just enough to shift it, but not enough to make a paste.
Yes yes yes yes
We absolutely need a video where you make squishies from scratch! That sounds like SO MUCH FUN!!
Great job Soap Duchess! Helpful tip as well, sand the plush so the paint adhere to the plush better!
"I don't like that it's not cute." You always make me smile, Katie.
Dear Algorithm,
I like this video.
Sincerely, EES
My 10 year old daughter loves Moriah so we watch her videos together. What a fun video!
They look adorable!!
Some thoughts (hopefully helpful)
1. Use a hair dryer to help dry layers.
2. Make your own nonstick paint mat by placing strips of painters tape over paper towels. You can create bigger or smaller mats as needed.
Girl I'm obsessed with Moriah Elizabeth too!
Am I the only one getting total Disney Belle vibes from Katie’s hair style? I love it 💕
The nectarine mint squishy is adorable ☺️
I love your squishies katy!! Even of they werent perfect I thought they were incredibleee specially since moriah always says that beginning is the hardest
I reallyyyyyyyy want you and Moriah to do a collab I feel like u two would get along so well!!
Yes make squishies! This channel is like a little bit of sunshine to look forward to
They still came out super cute! You are so hard on yourself!!
Love this video and seeing how frustrating it can be trying something new but also never giving up on it. Thank you.
13:06 "At least a tHiN coat of white everywhere..." That cupcake is DRIPPING
I love when you try new things on the channel!
I'm a super fan of Moriah. She will literally give u great step by step instructions in every video
I am not going to lie, this is how I feel every time I try something new!! It is a quiet the event.
Pro tip: she also mixes matte fabric paint with slick paint!!! I don't remember it when she said it, but it helps her lessen the layers needed while maintaining the flexibility of the paint.
One of the reasons why there are so many brush strokes is that you are using the slick paint. Moriah said at the beginning of her squishy makeover series that she used a popsicle stick on the slick paint and a paintbrush on the matte paint. Hope this helps
Moriah in 2 weeks: I made soaps based on my squishies.
If you prime the surfaces with a matte white paint first it will help the color paints stick better and streak less.
***EDIT: Never mind. You figured it out.
Sanding the squishes helps the paint stick better
Katie, I love your willingness to try new hobbies! So inspiring! I love you, gal!
Please make a soap based on one of her characters !! Like pickle , cousin derp or georgie !!! 💛🙏🏻
YES!! She should do that
Oh Katie we love you so much! I made a tiny swishy for my daughter for Christmas and it took me 10 layers and 2 weeks!
*sees video, SQUEALS* You made squishies?!?!!?!?! Yaaaaay!!!! That 'foreshadowing' whisper was just perfect, lol.
Aww Katey, you are an ARTIST in your own way with the soap making.😊
I have been watching how you make your soap and they are very beautiful and detailed. You have such a creative mind and your understanding of which colors to use for each soap theme shows that you are an artist.
As an artist myself (in painting and drawing) I appreciate the work you make on this channel with your soaps. Even when I watch you make those soap creations I think: " I don't think I can do that, I will just mess it up." Lol.😄
So don't think you are not an artist, art is made in MANY different ways, not just in painting or drawing.
I hope this makes you feel more confident about your artistic myself.😊
Hi I used to custom squishies years ago I do mix acrylic paint with fabric paint medium It makes this opaque...sleek paint is ok but layer of paint is super thick 😉 The mini soap I guess is a tofu 😁 and bread is a roll cake slice 😁 Another llast tip is to use white acrylic as a primer coat with the fabric medium then paint with posca markers
I love your videos and your personality! Keep being amazing Katie! 👏
I love that you are open to more creative endeavors. However, and I mean this with as much respect as possible, I come here for soap and I'm very grateful for that content.
There's a medium you can add to regular artists acrylic paint to make it fabric paint I heard that on ten hundred's channel.
Omg yess, I love Moriah Elizabeth!
I think the nectarine and mint girl looks like Pebbles Flintstone! 😍
The one Katie referred to a piece of squishy bread made me think of Kamaboko that goes in like ramen. Similar to Narutomaki/Naruto, but the white and pink sort of fish cake. I also loved the fuzzy kitty slipper lol
You did great Katie for first time doing it. Well done, i love them
I just got $10 back from my Rakuten purchase! Thank you so much for the alert!
MORE MORE MORE SQUISHY SOAPS!! thank you for all your content btw!!
fun hack if you ever need a palette, just cover a plate in cling wrap lol. works great for me :)
(found this out the hard way bc working on the flat surface is better when i paint, i used to use storebought ones because i am but a fool)
god i love you and your soaps, Katie! everything is just bubbling with goodness & positivity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Okay but that nectarine and mint soap squishy is the most adorable thing ever! I have never really heard of squishies before this (does that mean I'm old?!? Lol) but they are kinda cute. Will definitely have to check out Moriah's channel sometime!
They turned out so cute!!
These came out sooo cute!!!! Your selling yourself short girl!!
Great job on them all! Off topic but, I LOVE you nails! The colors are PERFECT!
Crossover between two great RUclipsrs!
Sanding them.tonrough up.the texture with a white coat of gesso paint first will make things much easier next time
As soon as I saw the tittle, I knew Moriah is somewhere gonna be here!💜💜🌼🌼♥🙈
Your nectarine lady is adorable!
