    I am a retired CFO myself and it is hard for me to believe this fraud could be carried out for this many years without a formal trust audit or certain internal audit procedures catching on to the scheme. My guess is that he only defrauded his clients and probably told them their cases were not successful or were still pending, so that the client did not know there was a settlement or if they had questions, they still called Alex. Still, a formal audit would normally include mailed requests (sample of disbursements) for confirmation and you would think at least one person would sound off. This CFO was a great witness.

This man's misdeeds cost this law firm millions and will continue to cost them millions in lost business. Saying that they knew about what he was doing is just as crazy as him thinking he could get away with it forever. You're wrong on so was he.

    • @zebeart8808
      @zebeart8808 Год назад +1

      @@markp.7165 I am not wrong. It's obvious. And a complete outside (out of state) audit would prove it. There is no way a law firm, of mostly close relatives, could have not been aware of many millions of theft and corruption going on for over a decade (s), unless they were involved in similar corruption and looking the other way. The brothers were powerful and possibly as corrupt as dear little brother, Alex. People are afraid of them. Why? Years ago, when they were embroiled in the death of Stephen Smith, his brother went with him to investigate. They must have a warehouse, instead of a closet, to hide all of their skeletons for a century. I hope the entire law firm is audited, and brought down. But that won't happen. Look what happened to Maggie who wanted a divorce and Paul who opened a can of worms they couldn't close.
      And please, don't compare that law form to a church or muffler shop. It was a powerful dynasty in a small community (and even banks were involved). For all we know, Alex may be the creme of the crop. There's even a possibility he was set up and thrown to ths wolves to hide other crimes and corruption. And I certainly hope it hurts that law firm. Anyone ever read the novel The Firm by John Grisham? Alex’s law firm could be his next novel.
