bro, the second the Shafowgate music hit at 1:55 I started having flashbacks of the old "Gaming in the Clinton Years" videos

I was hoping someone would, I was a fan of the original show that was based off of.

Well... Less than a minute in, and this video is already stupid multiple times.
This was a good game. It was hard to find, not "never rented". Granted, its not for everyone, but it was a breath of fresh air for the system that lacked RPGs.
I have fond memories of the game and its atmosphere. The only issue with the game is kind of one of its better qualities. It could be hard to figure out without a guide... because it did not hold your hand.
Have to believe, the only type of people that could try to dunk on this game are either not the target audience, or were like 5 years old when they tried to play it.

Haha i loved Glover and I like Shadowgate 64. The music is so good and it's just kinda got great atmosphere, I dunno how to explain it. The game itself is pretty obtuse a lot of the time, but I still thought it was pretty fun. It just has a kinda vibe no other N64 game has I can think of. And most of the time you're not in immediate danger unlike the original game so it feels more chill a lot of the time IMO. I also liked Gex as a kid but never replayed that one so I could have just liked it cause I was a kid lol.

Well, if it makes you feel better, I hadn't planned on it but I might be working on a video for Gex now.

agree 100% about its vibes being unlike any 64 game. the screen shots of this game ignited my interest due to its atmosphere and aesthetic presentation being remarkably similar to.... KINGS FIELD for the ps1 ( minus the combat ) so I’m curious, have u played kings field and if so do I like it’s resemblance to shadow gate .?

@@miyakogfl cool, feel free to comment if u ever do. & most agree that Kingsfield ancient city for the PS2 is the most polished out of the series .
      Good gaming 👍

I feel like most of your frustration came from NOT OWNING A SAVE PAK. And why did you rent that game so often if you don't like it? That doesn't make sense in the first place.

Wait isn't Gex 64 good? Never played that but if i would have a N64 back then i would give it a shot

The Gex games get memed on a lot, but they're average at worst, with moments of above-average. Gex 64 (I played it on the PS1 as "Enter the Gecko") is a game I still pop in from time to time. It's no Mario 64, but it's a perfectly passable collectathon. I actually prefer it *massively* to Banjo Kazooie as it has more of an arcadey feel and I never liked the characters or locations from Banjo Kazooie, which is always a fun opinion to bring out as it drives people mental.

It's not great, the camera's the biggest issue , and they don't understand why 3d platformers are designed three dimensionally, the main character is obnoxious, and they reuse level themes multiple times. There are certainly worse platformers but it's one of the lower tier games for the system.

That's true for the Playstation version, the N64 version specifically is worse in a some ways and I think that's the version the video is talking about.
It has a lower framerate, most of the cutscenes and voice lines are missing, and a lot of levels were removed or replaced with worse ones. It's still ok, I used to rent it and had a decent time with it. The sequel was handled much better for N64.

It felt like an AI generated script. I hate how low-effort AI generated content os everywhere now. It is not as good as people imagine it is.

    • @SoloWingFury
      @SoloWingFury  4 месяца назад +4

That implies there's a script at all friend. I speak from the heart, or gut or whatever. But that's primarily because of how monotone I can be, if I read from a script it would be even worse sounding I'm sure. Besides by going off memory and adlibbing I can work on my ability to speak which has been a problem I've had for a long time, and I can focus on the bits of the game that really stand out to me. But I am truly sorry that whatever I have done has appeared low effort and will do my best to improve moving forward.

@thinkinaboutpolitics It's all good, as something of a creative type myself, I'm absolutely leery of A.I. stuff too. But no, I'm just one guy who only has his passion, and hasn't scripted anything in the ten years I've been on here.
