Couple of extra tips
1. Keep changing your position in your seat before it becomes a problem
2. Popcorn is great because it needs focus to eat so it gives the brain something to do
3. Keep cool, warmth makes your body want to sleep, if its winter still strip down to a t shirt and put the heating on so you're comfortable but not warm, your body is used to being covered when sleeping so we're trying to avoid letting the body get comfortable enough to get sleepy
4. Drive with the window down as much as comfortable, especially on cool summer evenings
I live in Australia, 6-8 hours driving is taking the wife shopping. I have a trip planned in a few days to Melbourne from Brisbane. 1700ks one stop for fuel and a power nap at west Wyalong. I take long distance driving seriously, very seriously. If I get to Toowoomba and feel tired, I’m no hero I’ll stop. That’s the secret. It’s better to be late than DEAD on time.
This is the type of road trip video I was looking for, planning a six hour trip in a couple of weeks, well done!
I'm about to drive to Colorado from virginia beach. This will be my first long distance drive. My longest drive so far has only been 2 hours
How was your drive? I’m driving from Alabama to Colorado in a week. Just wondering how your trip was?
Informative thanks. I tend to sleep 8 hours compulsory for atleast 2 or 3 days before to avoid carrying the burden of sleep deprivation
😂😂 this made me laugh, thanks. About to do a 12 drive, alone 🙏🙏🙏
Excellent video. I do a lot of one-way road trips through the west, and these tips are helpful. I can add that if you are a coffee drinker, try to get your caffeine fix at the start of your drive and if needed, towards the end. I have found that it's impossible for coffee alone to keep me consistently alert and energized for day f driving. Water and snacking is a must, as explained in the video. Also, I try to limit my driving to 400 miles. I am not a Cannonball / Gumball driver. 400 miles of driving with stops in national parks and national monuments is a near perfect day for me.
Brendan A. MacWade good call, you've gotta save a little caffeine tolerance for the end of the trip, just in case!
Fantastic video.. Thank you for all the information. I think you covered it all spot on !
I used to do Montreal - Toronto quite often and I would try to make it in one shot but would be dead tired. I noticed I wasn't as tired when I took 15 min breaks at those rest stops, get something to eat and keep driving. Another tip is...this is stupid but if you know you're gonna do long distance driving, get a comfortable car. I once did 6 hours in a E90 BMW and after an hour I had to lift my ass while driving because it was killing it.
David Y haha, I hear that. Hear lots of people find their seats uncomfortable after just a few weeks. Sucks if you have to own the car for 5 years!
I’m going to be driving from Halifax to Edmonton next month
If you think an E90 is uncomfortable I cant even imagine you on a usual car...
@@erenylmazer356 Owned an Elantra, it was like sitting on a cloud compared to the bimmer, my A4 is also much more comfortable to me than the bimmer
I'm only driving for roughly 2 hours but the longest I've driven previously was 30 minutes and have only been driving for a couple of months.
Some great tips! I use a box of cereal to eat as a snack. Lucky Charms FTW.
I had severe eyestrain after many hours of computer games prior to driving. The glare can and did cause inflammation and strain and made it very difficult to focus. It took several weeks before my eyesight returned to normal.
jrossi9250 it's a real struggle. I don't play video games very often but when I do it's typically for several hours
Once i went a trip with my uncle 6 h total from timisoara to craiova!
Quality info. Cheers
great vid bro
Good nutritional info
I am about to make a trip so I’ll get some energy bars and cereal in a bag. I’ll get water and coffee to start. Plus I’ll make stops at those On Route stops
Like the 3sgte shirt
Dude, I live in Europe and a long trip I have to do is about 4-5 hours..but its full of pressure because of idiot drivers who squish theself into dangerous overtakings, tailgating..its a whole lot of a mess..then I get to the capital which is full and the people will fu*k up your mood.. do you have any tips on being a bit more relaxed in these situations? (I'm still a beginner, I got my license last summer)
