I have anxiety disorder since I was a kid. Been on ssri for a few years but still have attacks. My doctor gave me pregabalin super low dose 50 mg a day. At first I thought it was great, no anxiety! But DO NOT DRINK alcohol whilst on this medication. I became hostile, slurring, uncoordinated just after 2 glasses of wine. Embarrassed myself at xmas in front of my family, stopped taking it soon after. The withdrawals were hell, rebound anxiety, insomnia, GI issues, headaches, dysphoria, lasted 2 weeks. I was on it for 2.5 months. Glad I quit when I did. Best wishes.

My stepfather was fighting cancer, and gabapentin was prescribed for pain mitigation. I illicitly used it off label to address my anxiety and wow, I now believe anxiety can be helped. Until Id used it Ive never felt the comfort in public as I did then. Im in therapy now, and plan to ask about Lyrica if I cant arrive at a non chemical solution.
Thank you for sharing your story.

I've been on clonazepam for 20 years, had two failed attempts trying to get off. It was torture. How long did it take you to feel relaxed on Pregabalin, first dose or several days/weeks? I do not want to become dependent on another drug that I may never get off. If there's a possibility it can help me get off the benzo (which really doesn't work for me anymore) that would be amazing.

@@mondoguitar For me it worked after ~1 hour(75mg) on first try. I settled on 150mg in the morning and 75mg at night. I took no clonazepam while testing this. I have been taking ~2-3mg clonazepam for some years, I did not feel any withdrawal symptoms from the benzo. We are all different, but from my experience I would give it a try.

Same company one came out a long time before the other. No short term fix with anxiety disorders from my experience you either take meds for life or if your lucky you find the gym will sort of the issues. By design these medications only work when you take them they have no healing properties long term for a disorder but might knock basic anxiety out thr system as would going to the gym. Work out what's wrong with you and decide from there.

Are you sure your on pregabalin? It should work from 1 hour up to sometimes 2 - 3 hours for some reason but it shouldn't take 2 weeks. I just bought 300mg pregabalin and one should definitely effect you in a sense of your anxiety is completely gone but first time taking a 300mg was definitely overwhelming as you get this drunk type feeling like you lose your balance easy but I'd say that all gets better the more you take it, once your body gets used to it you'll stop walking sideways into walls like I did.
