    I had classic trap pain for 20 years. Someone told me to use an Alignmed Posture Shirt. That 20 years of pain was gone after only 3 weeks of wearing it, and that was 6 years ago. It's not been back. I wear the posture shirt whenever I drive longer than a couple of hours. Just returned from a 7 hour drive to Yosemite. I had no shoulder and back pain as I had for so many years.

    I found that driving with 1 hand or the other hanging at the top of the steering wheel has caused me some chronic shoulder problems in the joint. Notice the strain on your shoulder from driving with one hand at the top of the wheel. Place elbows in lap and grab at the bottom of the wheel or start making a habit of it!

      Exactly and in addition, putting your palm facing up further encourages neutral shoulder posture

    The only thing you didn't cover was what is the position for your hands on the wheel. Recently I've developed a deep ache in my left shoulder and go figure-I constantly drive with my left hand at the top of the wheel. So, at this point, I'm looking for the best position for my hands and how best to treat myself to alleviate the pain without drugs, i.e., exercises, stretches, etc. Thank you for all your valuable info on driving ergonomics.

      @PainReliefChiropractic  2 года назад

      That might've been overlooked in this video, but I have an updated video where I discuss this. The best positioning for your hands on the steering wheel is at the bottom of the steering wheel with your palms facing upward. This is the most neutral position you can put your shoulders in. Here is the newer version of this video: ruclips.net/video/B3neSYx5lXI/видео.html

    My husband is a OTR truck driver and he's been in constant pain, he's pain is in his left side: neck, shoulder and arm. He says that the pain gets worse when he starts driving. Is there any exercises or stretches he can do to help him alleviate the pain? Thank you for your time Sir.

    Thank you for the helpful video. I got a new car about 2 years ago. I have had back pain from the seats for the entire time. This car is supposed to be known for its comfortable seats! I especially get neck pain (my SCM's) because it seems the head rest (which is not adjustable) tilts forward. My question is should my head be touching the head rest while driving? My neck and upper back do it touch the seat given the angle of the headrest. Does that make sense?

    • @PainReliefChiropractic
      @PainReliefChiropractic  7 лет назад

      Your head does not need to be touching the headrest when driving. The important thing is to ensure you have proper posture and that can be determined by making sure your ear is over your shoulder from a side view. Some headrests actually are adjustable. Try pulling it forward and it should ratchet until you pull all the way forward, at which point it will reset and you can return to the furthest backward position. Hope that helps!

      It's probably not anything to do with being in different countries. You most likely have a different vehicle. Check the adjustments like I go over in this video and let me know if you have any other questions. 😀

    My c6 c7 disc pain alot when I'm driving my van? If you have any tips plz

    • @PainReliefChiropractic
      @PainReliefChiropractic  2 года назад

      The best I can offer you is to ensure your neck posture is neutral while driving. The headrest and seat angle will help most, along with mirror adjustments. Treatment for your disc issues is important to pursue because I am not sure that car ergonomics alone are going to help 100%

    I shifted from a sedan to an SUV (left hand drive) a few weeks back. Since then I'm feeling too much pain in my left arm , left shoulder and upper left side of the back. The pain feels traveling down upto the just above the wrist. By watching your video , it seems, the reason may be the seat adjustment. Could you suggest some thing more in addition to the seat adjustment, please.

    • @PainReliefChiropractic
      @PainReliefChiropractic  6 лет назад

      As I was reading your comment I was going to suggest the seat, so great job in realizing that! In addition, adjust your steering wheel height to go a little lower and perhaps a little closer to you. The shifter usually adjusts in conjunction with the steering wheel.

      Move the seat to where your elbow is at 90 degrees when your hands are on the steering wheel. Elbow should be directly below the shoulder

    Hey great advice and I'm hoping that your chips help me out because right now I'm experiencing a ton of wrist elbow and shoulder pain, but what do you mean you don't drive with your left foot LOL 😂😜. If you have a 5-speed than you do. Maybe some tips on correct posture and leg position for people that are driving a manual transmission plz and thank you

    • @PainReliefChiropractic
      @PainReliefChiropractic  4 года назад

      True, I'm happy to hear you have a manual shift. It's getting increasingly difficult to get manual shift cars these days. That said, the same applies for foot and leg positioning whether you have an automatic or manual transmission. For your wrist and shoulder, ensure you put your hands at the bottom of the steering wheel and maintain a loose but controlled grip on the shifter when using it. No need to leave your hand on the shifter otherwise. Keep your wrist neutral, elbow at 90 degrees and your elbow placed directly beneath the shoulder. Good luck and thanks for reaching out... To me... Not your steering wheel! 😂
