In this video we're checking out Fun Boy Three. This is their rendition, as Terry Hall helped write it. We're excited to hear it. Enjoy! / hanierfamily cynthiamartin....
June Miles-Kingston is the female singer. Bananarama did work on earlier stuff but not this. June was in the Mo-Dettes and sang on some big hits with the Communards. This version was ok but not as good as the original
The Fun Boy Three version was once described as "delivered at a funeral processional pace" which I personally prefer. This version seems to be the 12" Dance version
I'm american and My main thought is the two version are very much representations of each other's nation ( stereotypically ) The american version : carefree and hopeful The British : jaded with attitude .. I think the music better represents the lyrics better on this version As when you hear the go gos version It's so uplifting you really don't think of how deep the lyrics are ...
Cheers for that! Iirc Terry Hall and Jane Wiedlin were having a bit of a thing when they wrote this. A great 'nobody else matters' type love song. I've always thought of this as a sort of barbershop quartet version of the bright, jangly Go Go's version, with that vocal bass part. Absolutely love that insistent scratchy guitar line that runs through the Funboy Three version, could never quite figure out how to play it though. And my God i had such a crush on Jane, still do!
Like, Sense, which was co written with Ian Broudie of, The Lightening Seeds, with both recording their own versions. Our Lips Are Sealed, was co written with Jane Wiedlin of The GoGo's and they also both recorded their own versions. It tells the story of an affair between them whilst Terry was, at that time, with his someone else.
I prefer this over the Go Go's version. The subject is murky and Terry Hall delivered that feeling in my opinion. Belinda Carlisle delivered it with a sugar coating but maybe that was the point the Go Go's were making.
Yeah. We were sure a minute after the song started that it was an extended track. We like to get an album cut as often as possible but, we're glad you liked it.
I prefer this to the gogos version. Pity about terry halls haircut. I think bananarama might be singing background on this. Either them or the remnants of the bodysnatchers.
You've got an unofficial re-edit there. There is a proper extended version from 40 years ago which has got Neville Staple toasting on it. It's much better than this amateur rehash.
Yaaaa a shout out, cheers guys.... just out of interest perhaps a mash up created by some genius out there could use Belinda Carlisle vocals and fun boy three background music....combine the best of both worlds....I guess your aware of Mashups.....if done right they are amazing...if done wrong absolutely appalling....luck of the draw an the creative talent behind them I guess.....😀
It was a bit unfair to compare this version of the song. Its some kind of extended remix from 2008. The original is short and sweet. This version just doesn't sound right at all 🤷🏻♂️
I prefer the 7" version of this song sung by the co-writer Terry Hall, Fun boy threes version. The gogos version is good, but Belinda and the "rocky" guitars are passe. If you want that listen to The Bangles. Carlislie was far better solo. My opinion.
The Fun Boy Three original version, which is not this, is as original as the Go-Gos as Terry Hall was one of the two songwriters. This version is very different musically from the one we heard everywhere here in the UK back in the eighties. This sounds sort of disco music, not nice. Please, listen to the original Fun Boy Three version. The Go-Gos version was not popular here.
The backing group were three girls who later went onto perform there own group called Banarama, best girl group there has ever been.

Some are saying it's not even an official version. We're going to have to revisit this song, we're thinking.

Love this song.. Been on a night out and DJ played this....This is a Special Song!
Cheers for that!

She always seemed like the sweetest girl. And cute too.
You should listen to the live version that's floating about.
I bought the 7 inch version of this and nobody’s diary by Yazoo the same weekend and played them over and over
Nobody's diary is a great song
definitely not the single version

Think you've got the remix or 12 inch version there.the single mix is more full on.
It was definitely too long on the ends. Typical for a 12 inch track. We had started to suspect that.
@@hanierfamily this is an exceptional 12" mix of the single , one song you just wish never ends , well in my case anyway ✊🏻❤️🕴
As others have said definitely a remix as not the same as version they are known for.
my favorite song by them is The lunatics have taken over the asylum, quite apt for the way the world is going at the moment
You can see Terry Halls influence on the lyrics
Definitely!

Love this, Came out when I was 16 never heard this extended/12in version before Great Choice again, Cheers Jim, UK

Yes, Belinda Carlisle has a great voice, but I couldn't imagine her covering the Specials.
We have a comparison video of it
Very sad to hear that Terry died today.
Try, "The tunnel of love " by the fun boy three
Pity you didn't do the original single version...

Wow. We just outright dropped the ball on this one.
love this channel

This is not the 7 inch single sounds like a album version

Yeah. We've been talking about revisiting some of the songs we've done. I guess we should stop talking and do.
That's not the single version
You guys should check out the a band called The Cure
We've been told that a few times. Any thoughts on which song?
@@hanierfamily you could start with lullaby or boys don't cry maybe?
Edit, 'Friday I'm in love' is a classic
@@thesoupdragon112 Friday I'm In Love is well known to us. Boys Don't Cry as well. The other is now on our list.
Can't wait for my request
My favourite track by these is, The Lunatics have taken over the Asylum
We did that one. Please go check it out!
Written b y Terry Hall and Jane Wiedlin

That’s a terrible mix you’ve chosen there
Yeah. Some people are enjoying it, though. Guess we're going to have another go at it.
You're picking some crackers! There's a great live video of this ruclips.net/video/rqQT3oKA3v8/видео.html

Ugh! This group took a perky, up-beat 'summer-type' song, and like music vampires sucked all the life out of it.
