    ‎ It's always so fun when you get to buy new fish, and Cory has definitely been collecting several new species, some of which he's never kept before. Check out his mouthbrooding bettas, blue Mickey mouse platies, LDA08 dwarf claro pleco, Xiphophorus nezahualcoyotl (mountain swordtail), and Xenotoca doadrioi. He also added some new hardscape, such as purple jade rock, carved seiryuu stone, and a giant fountain rock for an upcoming project.

      @@AquariumCoop Could you guys possibly explain what to do if a fish gets stuck in a decoration or cave? I just had to push my goldfish backwards out of one. She's missing scales and has a wonky pectoral fin. I quickly set up a quarantine bucket, cause cause the cory smelled the injury and wouldn't leave her alone.

    Hi Cory, and greetings from the UK . Really enjoy having you impart your wisdom playing away on my tablet whilst sitting at the computer working. Regarding your really hot water at the sink. I'm no plumber, but we have a mixer tap with shower attachment running off it over our bathtub. On the hot and cold supply pipes under the bath there is an additional thermostatic valve fitted ( I guess to prevent scalding ) sounds like this is what you might need. Keep up the good work and all the best

    I had a very rare (for me) opportunity to make it to the brick and mortar Co-op and was able to pick up 3 of your 4 gallon tanks for nieces and a nephew who all asked for their first tank for Christmas! The tanks are awesome and I'm so excited to see what each of them decide to do! My first little tank was a Christmas gift when I was a kid and I've loved the hobby ever since - I'm hoping to maybe spark that same love for them 😊

    1. Bring in Tanner for Serpa Design pay him to come for a week and scape/fix everything for you, build the turtle pond, plant your new giant stone fountain
    2. Giveaway away one new Aquarium Coop tank a month

    Just wondering... why were the Easy plant aquarium lights increased in price by as much as $20? The 12in used to be $59.99 and all of a sudden it's $79. And I'm pretty sure the 16in was $79 and now it's 89. I was saving up for a couple and now I have to save up even more 😅

  • @adatewithnature8333
    @adatewithnature8333 6 месяцев назад

    25:17 that could be the coolest aquascape ever with that lighting! you could have it look kinda like its a cave with rocks stacked up in the edges where the light doesn't get to, then in the middle of the light beams you could have a carpet and low light plants planted on the dark stone walls reaching for the light! between the two lights you could have a cave wall looking thing with a very wide "tunnel" linking them up. not sure if that turtle can go on land but if it could then the rock thats stacked up to make the cave could support a terrestrial area above for him!

  • @Shadow_Arbor
    @Shadow_Arbor 6 месяцев назад +2

    I dont think you're not destined for cardinal shrimp... Don't take this the wrong way, it just sounds like they don't interest you enough. If you were to use RO water and some Sulawesi salt from Denerle or another company I doubt you'd have issues. I've been raising them for years, albeit not in the States, on RO water + Sulawesi mineral and bringing up the parameters to exactly those of the breeder I purchased them from. I've even gotten them down temperature wise over the years to around 25 degrees Celsius when originally they died on me at 27.
    I know you're not a fan of RODI and adjusting your water, which is understandable especially at your scale, but if you really want to, you should have no problem raising them.
    You could even, over a few generations, get them breeding in your tap water. Breed the first gen in RO+minerals, then each generation add like 10% of your tap water, eventually there's a good chance you succeed especially since your water is hard.

    I run a matten filter with an Aquarium Co-op cartridge air pump on my 20 gallon tall. It's been set up for 3 years and holds 4 neons, 3 harlequin raspboras, 4 rummy nose tetras, 2 guppies, 1 ember tetra, 4 kuli loaches, 1 otto, 2 mystery snails, 6 cherry shrimp and a plethora of red ramshorn and pond snails. It's planted with jungle Val, pogostemon Stella's octopus, Nana petite, dwarf chain sword, Java fern.and a melin sword. A pothos has rooted all the way into the gravel, and duckweed floats the top. I've never done water changes nor cleaned the gravel. Plants are growing like crazy and my fish have never been healthier.

    I stick with faucets that offer easily replaceable cartridges like MOEN. Essentially 2 different cartridges for most of their products. Plus I can change myself. Crap in plumbing and faucets themselves wear out as moving parts. Some areas of the country have more hard water and minerals causing issues. Some metals have better corrosion resistance. I moved from Arizona to Hawaii. Mother Nature with salt, humidity, mold, vog, and rain laugh at just about anything. Steel, powder coat, stainless steel, glass windows, etc., are eaten alive.

    You were mentioning water changes, I have a 75 gallon cichlid tank with roughly 25 cichlids ranging from 2-5 inches and I change the water 25% once a month roughly. I top it off usually once a week. I use 2 large hang on filters, a wave maker and a skimmer and have no trouble usually. It's full of live plants, in water and pothos out of water. Is it better to do small water changes more often or large ones less frequently? I don't ever get any kind of spikes in my water and I guess Im just asking if one way is better than the other?

    • @AquariumCoop
      @AquariumCoop  6 месяцев назад +1

    Thanks for the lighting talk. It's almost impossible to convey the true colors without a high end camera and some knowledge and skill with white balance. I'm so used to the 10,000K+ of my reef tanks the lights for FW look so brown unless they are up to 6,500K. Those lower K bulbs also don't really show the green properly in a planted tank.
    Nothing like spotlights to show off EVERY little particle in the water!

    Your faucets are malfunctioning due to an unbalanced back pressure event. Back and forth pressure is being caused by the numbers of faucets in series with each other. This is causing the faucet washers to unseat. Your plumber may need to provide a separate H2O supply to at least one of the odd faucets. Or sorce a set of faucets that can handle the massive pressure jolts without the washers being affected.

      Interesting, we ran our own lines from the water heater to this sink, but T here to supply the temperature control valve. I've got the new faucet and will see how it goes. I haven't had this problem at the warehouse, store or previous fish rooms all doing the same thing.

    Interesting that you believe the hard water is slowing plant growth. I just moved from texas (with hard water) to Southern California (with SUPER hard water) and I am having a horrible time with my plants. I had luscious growth (in established tanks) back in texas, so I think I know how to grow plants. However, almost every plant I have tried is suffering. My bacopa caroliniana (sp?) essentially disintegrated. I’m close to getting an RO system 😢

      We sell them at our retail store. Brought it in from one of our stone suppliers when I visited China this year.

    What’s the secret to Brazilian pennywort? I plant mine and the stem rots and then the rest of the plant winds up floating?

      I'm not entirely sure. At the retail store it always thrive, in my home aquariums it's 50/50. I think when I just try harder, it grows out of control, more fertz mostly.
