Now that video was hilarious, I am 5 feet 6 inches on a good day and I have a Suzuki m109 and often times have to pick and choose where I park at because of the weight of the bike lolol
Thanks so much for making this video! I’m 5’4” with a 28” inseam and have a 2020 Road Glide. My fourth bike but still 200 pounds more than my Ace Honda Tourer 1100 was. It sure has been a learning curve! For the kickstand I got them to put an extension on it. I think it was about $20. Short legs and the Harley touring kickstand placement don’t go so well together. Lol.
Ok I agree with everything you have noted. I have a 2014 Street glide Firefighter Shrine. I am a solo rider so I took the original Mr Harley seat off which was low enough for me and I could flat foot with it . But I like the solo seat look and went with a gel Saddle Man Dominator seat. This seat although very comfortable actually hiked my butt up in the air to where I was having to paddle the bike around in the car park on the balls of my feet. Solution is I bought a Scully air ride suspension ( out of Wisconsin) which has a handlebar switch and you push the button and it actually lowers my already slammed Street Glide to where I can paddle the bike around (Flat Foot )with ease then when you get moving you press the button ( my option is the handlebar up and down buttons and raise your suspension and it is a very nice plush ride. Also you mentioned the learning how to control your heavy bike videos and I think one of the best ones I've seen on the Internet is motorman he's an X motor officer and he demonstrates how you can maneuver a big bike at slow speeds and maneuverability skills.Hope this helps ?🤔👍😎🇺🇸
Big ups all my short kings out here. The struggle is real. I ride a bike that’s about 9” taller than that and I’m 5’5”. It’s not fun but I been doing it for 35 years.
I always enjoy your videos. I am 5’11” and forgot how much easier it is to lift the bike off of the Jiffy stand with the bars turned to the right. Also haven’t ridden much over the winter and my legs have gotten weak. I am 66 and was ready to sell my Road Glide and buy a Heritage. Instead I am going back to the gym to build my core strength. Also i am going to lift my bike off the stand everyday. Lifting the bike three sets of ten daily for a week should do the trick. It has a lot to do with technique, but it helps to be strong. Thanks!
Great video bro ! I'm short n got a street glide . I've been riding for years, but most of my riding was smaller street bikes. Love my Harley ! Thanks man
Thank you. I was close to dropping mine yesterday, I only have it a week, we all stopped on a hill that happened to be a junction as well. The camber dropped both left and right and downhill all at the same time, the only contact was my toes. The only approach next time is don't stop keep moving but on this occasion the guy in front stopped 😫 .
Great video Brother. I'm 5'9" and I still have a hard time backing my 2012 Harley-Davidson's Electra Glide Ultra Limited out of my garage and stopping at signals and touching the ground flat footed. So I have learned to wear my heavy souls and healed biker boots whenever I ride. They also give me a much better sense of stability too when my wife is on the back of my bike. I really dig your videos and style brother 👍👊
Very good video and funny. Another tip for short riders is always observe the ground while stopping to see if there is a lower side. If the right side is lower, then let your left foot down to steady the bike and viceversa. Doing the opposite will take your bike down as it has happened to me twice and I had to do the Bruce Lee roll.
Man this video is perfect. I come from an 09 road king at 5’8” and I’m just not comfortable with it at all. Harley buddy of mine recommended going to the newer street or road glide with their slightly lower center of gravity so I’ve been considering the road glide. This video helps so much man. Thank you from all us short dudes
Great video. I’m 5”7” and really want a Heritage but I just ordered a softail standard. I’ve always wondered how you see over the dash on the baggers? I’ve never sat on one.
Tip for backing up: put your front brake on, push down forward on your bars and release the brake when you pull back on the bars, then back on the front brake so you don’t roll forward, push down forward again and release when you pull back on the bars again, and repeat as necessary. You’re using your suspension and the front brake to rock your bike backwards into a roll. I’m a tippy toe rider so that’s how i back it up without getting off the bike or asking someone to push me 😂
I like your videos. As for other Motorcycle videos I would like to suggest one if you don't mind. It is called Robert Simmons "Paying it Forward" in a nutshell it is about slow motorcycle operations skills I have watched his and your videos even though I don't own a bike yet. What I learned I was able to help another rider night before last. Some of my friends own bikes but don't know how to operate their bike at slow speeds. Duck walking the bike to make a u- turn. I know ! what do I know about riding a bike and I don't own one. Well nothing ! but watching how to operate a bike at slow speeds from someone who had done it for over 18+ I would suggest watching videos as well as Ride like a Pro video. Anyway Mac very informative videos I have subscribed to your channel. God Bless and be safe
Thank you for the info. I'm 5'4" 28"inseam and just upgraded to a RKS. I'm fine solo but want to be extra careful with my wife on board. Robert Simmons(paying it forward) offers some classes and has great vids for slow riding skills.
Good content and with your upgrade vids, keep bringing it brother. Also, what separates you from the crowd is the way you express yourself just keeping it simple straight up and real. I’m sure personality has a lot to do with it. Peace ☮️
Great video man 💯. Just upgraded from Honda Shadow to an Ultra Glide. What a big difference. This video alone really has taught me a few more things. All of us that have commented, we appreciate your time and effort. Thank you 🙏
I'm 5'3 and ride a 2016 RGS. My seat has been modified, suspension lowered 1 inch, now a 21 on the front. Great video and I plan on posting another vid also.
great video! it’s been posted awhile ago and just came across it. i’m 5’7 and ride an ultra limited. once you start riding and get used to the ride it becomes nothing at all to ride. i’m in the orlando area and hope to see you one day at bike week/biketoberfest
I think it's more about your inseam rather than how short you are. I am 5.5-6 but have a short inseam of 28", tippy-toes on my Low Rider. Your tips are useful, I will try the turning my bars to the left. Another issue for us shorter riders, especially with Harley's is wide bars, I struggle to do near full lock turns because my arms are shorter. To help that I firstly try to avoid having to do tight turns and if I do I position myself closer to the tank, it helps a bit. Thanks
I'm a 5'3" woman. I have a 2012 Iron 883 and a 2016 Breakout. The hardest thing for me is planting both feet on the ground at a stop. I cannot spread my legs like you taller folk in order to keep the heat away from my thighs. The piece in my collection will be a Glide I miss being able to blast my music. 😏
Check out Day Long Seats. The seat is custom fitted to you-narrower in the front so you scoot forward and can put your feet down. I’m a 5’3” woman on a good day and I also have the Legends Air Ride suspension on a 2022 Street Glide Special.
This is awesome tips 👏🏽 I'm 5'9 and i want the RG to be my one and only bike, so before I purchase it, I'm gonna rent different bikes so i can be ready for my baby..thank you for your channel it has helped me feel more confident 😀 🤙🏾💯💪🏾Happy New Year to you sir!!
Good video even though I'm 6:1😂 I still feel short with the bike sometimes especially since I put the 14” bars on it. Hey let me know if you find a class. I've been wanting to take one also. I've just been watching them on youtube and practicing. 🤟
Dude… this just SAVED MY ASS! 😜. Ive always had Bobbers and Naked bikes. Ive been totally wantin a Bagger. Went into my local dealership SUPER Hot sales chick and I could NOT stand the bike up after I mounted 😂. Im goin back and tryin again now
Thanks Sir. I'm 5,6 ans just got an Ultra Ltd 2021. The weight is a huge ne w factor for me too. I've never tried keeping the kickstand out when loading my wife, but I will do so on this bike. Big Thanks for sharing your tips on managing the Bike . PS - do you have a video on how to "push / walk " your motorcycle, perhaps? Thanks
I’m a 5’7/8 foot tall so I’ve been wondering myself if I will be able to ride in the future a street glide cvo, without any problem. Thanks for the video and for the tips.
I'm only 5'4" and ride a 2012 electraglide. My biggest issue is putting up the kickstand. I put my bike in gear and roll forward about 2' causing the kickstand to come up halfway so I can reach it to put it all the way up.
Seat is always a good idea if it’s quality. I would not do a lowering kit unless it air ride or a real suspension kit. Lowering kits kill the quality of the ride
Love it! So i'm 5'5", and sat on a 2021 Sportster Iron 883 last week, with mid controls. I felt very cramped with my knees up to my chest. And i ain't no skinny minny, so i was not only uncomfortable but felt like a can of Pillsbury biscuits. I told them to change the mids out to forward controls. They happen to be on back order for another week or so. In your (or anyone here's) professional opinion, do you think I'll be able to reach the forward controls comfortably, or would it be a stretch at 5' 5"?
You will reach them just fine. With your height you would even be fine on a bagger. I know a few ladies who ride 883’s and they are zooming along with us no issues! But until you get the forward controls your going to feel annoyed with it. Thank you for watching and subscribing
I know your problem with height. I'm less than 5'8" with an inseam of 28". (That's short). I replaced the rear shocks with 3" under OEM, and a mustang saddle which is a little thinner in the padding. Remember, if you lower your bike you will need to change out the Jiffy Stand for a shorter model (Drag Specialties handles this product). Thanks for the Video. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one out there with short legs. BTW my bike is an 05 FXDWGI. Thanks again!
Gravel is what gets me and unfortunately I can’t avoid it. My driveway is 150 feet of loose gravel and reclaimed asphalt. Im 5’9” with several bikes including an electraglide. On the electraglide my feet will just slide right out from under me. The driveway is down hill to the road and the road itself is very busy so I have to stop at the bottom and wait for traffic every time.
You better get that stand down. I am 5'7" and don't have issues on the SGS. I do have the Predator III seat. What size are your handle bars. Is it more comfortable. You will get a leg work out backing up. Robert Simmons will get you squared away. He is near Savannah
I love your videos. I saw a video of the new seats for your Road Glide. I like the adjustable back rest on one of those seats. I just bought a 2013 Road Glide CVO. I am 5'9 and I think instead of me buying a new seat to move me forward the adjustable back rest would be Ideal. Can you forward me the link and cost just for the adjustable back rest if possible. Thank you in advance. Keep tje videos coming I like watching them. Plus this video here was great info to know.
I am looking at a Ultra Limited. I'm 5'11" but 160 lbs wet and coming from a sport bike history. I 'm worried this bike might be to big (heavy) for me. I want a touring bike for both myself and my wife. Am I to light for this type of bike? Loved the vid
Thanks for the posting of this, have you ever ridden a 1200 Sportster? If so what did you think? I'm a newbie to street bikes same height and weight as you and I just got a 1200 Sportster. I've had 2 dirt bikes but the weight on this is so much more.
I have ridden one before good bike just all depending what your doing with it. They are real easy to handle and ride but if you ride with guys who have baggers you will have one soon too trust me!
Great content bro. 2 questions....what kind of tires are you riding on? (They look great 💪🏾👍🏾) Also what size are your bars? I have 18s and I love them but they aren't meat hooks like yours. I can only find 16s. Thanks alot 🤜🏾🤛🏾
I got short legs and have a difficult time trying to get my bike off the jiffy stand even once I get it up I can't seem to get the stand up any tips , a guy at Harley who has short legs said once on the bike let the bike roll forward and it will kick the stand up a little so you can get it up with your foot. I watched him do it but , for some reason it seems a bit iffy
If you are coming into riding a big Harley like this.. it’s all in your head.. but take a course.. there is no shame in not having the skills.. no one is born with it .. there are lots of great training people out there.. motorcycle police trainers….. every city has them…
Check out the youtube channel ride like a pro. The guy is retired police motor instructor., motoman. He has several cds out and offers classes in fla. And has locations thru out the country. Hope this helps.
no offense but being that short doesn't that fairing block your view? personally I like to be able to see all of the road in front of me. That's the major reason I stay away from baggers.... I'm about five six....
Awesome. I need this information. Especially parking. I am only 5,ft on streetglide. Would love more content on this thank you
It’s all in the head..
Would you have any videos of you riding and pics of your bike?

What kind of handlebars to you recommend for shorter riders?? Like your video
I’m running 12”on mine but 10” aren’t bad either but I would stay in that range.
Great video sir, I'm about the same hight, I'm considering cvo limited with 18" ape, your thoughts please for comfort and control lock to lock?
Great Video Brother! What are your thoughts on reach seats and Lowering kits?
Seat is always a good idea if it’s quality. I would not do a lowering kit unless it air ride or a real suspension kit. Lowering kits kill the quality of the ride
How easy is to see the road for a short guy? It’s that a problem? I see that the windshield is too high and may obstruct visibility.

Get a kickstand extension

Hey brother.... what is the height of your handle bar and brand?
12" yaffe
At 5’4” and 140 lbs, it is all about finesse
How is the lowering kit sound
Not the best ride but if you use a suspension that lowers the bike would be a better route
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Damn are we really calling 5’8 short now 😒
If you are coming into riding a big Harley like this.. it’s all in your head.. but take a course.. there is no shame in not having the skills.. no one is born with it .. there are lots of great training people out there.. motorcycle police trainers….. every city has them…
what seat is on your bike?
Check out BADBOYZ CYCLEZ... I have a recent video review on the seat
👍
Check out the youtube channel ride like a pro. The guy is retired police motor instructor., motoman. He has several cds out and offers classes in fla. And has locations thru out the country. Hope this helps.
What height are your handlebars
12 check out my video on them
Ok, I must have missed it in the search.
Short stroke the kickstand LOL
Where you from my friend?
South Florida
no offense but being that short doesn't that fairing block your view? personally I like to be able to see all of the road in front of me. That's the major reason I stay away from baggers.... I'm about five six....
I’m 5’3” on the same bike and no it doesn’t. You still look through and over the windshield.
