She really is sharp. I'm 6'2 but I'm teaching 4 riders who are a little short for thier street glides and ultra. She had some really good ideas ill throw on them.
I once saw a midget ride a sport bike. He could barely reach the shifter. When he got to a traffic light, he would stop, and jump off the bike, and stand next to it and hold it upright. When the light turn green, he would give the bike a small push, jump on and take off. After watching that guy do it, I no longer believe anybody is too short to ride a motorcycle.
I appreciate you allowing a short woman such as myself give advice on the bigger bikes, for I am interested in a Road King but nervous about the weight.. Thank you so much!
I'm 5' even and have ridden full baggers. My last bike was a fully loaded Yamaha Roadstar. I put 50K on that bike. Lowered and a new Seat pull back bars and had my boots modified with thicker soles and heels. Yep all good lessons for us short rider. Were bigger than you think.
I wish I could hire her as a coach! The man I fell in love with....who dumped me...not the bike...had the most beautiful blue Road Glide. It was a 2018 or 2019. It was the most beautiful bike color ever! I'm 59 an 5'1" and challenged myself to learn to ride at age 54 when I was super lonely.
I am 5‘4“ 149 pounds and I have an electric glide. I need to go from Vancouver to Kennewick very nervous but your video was awesome more like that would be cool. My big fear is not being on pavement and trying to maneuver, already tipped it over once, and I was unable to pick it up that hurt anyway, thank you for the video
I road my 1952 FLH Hydraglide with it’s original wishbone rigid frame, plus a jockey shifter and suicide clutch, no front brake or fender for many many years and almost 220k miles. Over 50 rear tires, a dozen or so top end rebuilds and God only knows how many quarts of oil and primary oil. I carried every single thing I needed to get her going and back on the road in my saddle bags including base gaskets, a piston, wiring, ignition cables, coils, points. Everything could be repaired less internal engine and transmission repairs. I’m 5’6” tall and about 190 lbs. I finally got my fill of the hard core trips and decided to buy a 2012 Ultra Classic for a change of pace and comfort. I held off on the Ultra because I thought it would be too heavy and big for me to sling around. Then I decided to try one out for a test drive for a week. I was sold after that. No problems whatsoever with handling it like I did. I now have over 90k miles and I’m going to trade it for a slightly used 2021 Ultra Classic with 6k on the clock. I’m sure that this will be the last motorcycle I ever buy for daily usage.
See, I know I’m big enough to maneuver the bike. I’m 5’ 9” 175lbs, but I just feel like the size of the bike is gonna wash me out. A small person on a big bike? That works. A big dude on a big bike? That makes sense. A medium dude on a big bike feels like it’s gonna make me look smaller. I think skinnier bikes work better for my size, even though I could fit and handle a glide 🤷♂️
I can understand that thought process. I have never felt like a touring bagger of any kind made me feel small. I'm only 5'10 190lbs. I do feel like you have to be comfortable on what you're riding to be safe. Thanks for watching and commenting.👍
Great video! I'm 5'5" and have been riding Gold Wings for 40 years, only touching the ground tippee-toes. Good balance is everything; coming to a stop with the handlebars straight is helpful. I am 5-1 man I never could buy a Harley cause I am too short but now I am buying a 883 classic to see if I can handle it But my dream is a super glide thanks for the tips
Love the way she looked around before taking off each time, even in the lot... a lot of guys just glance in the left mirror and hit the throttle. She rides really well considering the size ratio. Still, as a shorter rider myself, I tend to put a bit more stock into the "at least one foot flat on the ground at a complete stop, the other foot at least close" school of thought. A quarter ton of Harley is a lot to deal with at frequent stops in rain/inclimate weather, when your only contact is your tippy-toes.
Courtney is a great rider for sure. I agree with at least one flat foot. Her personal RG is lowered enough for that. We are show that it can be done. Thanks for watching.
This is awesome! I am exactly 5” tall as well. I ride a street glide. She touches better than me, I probably have a shorter inseam. Still very impressive! I have full air ride and ride at stock height, alone and with passenger but when I pull into parking spot I drop the bike for solid flat footing. And oh yeah reaching the kickstand is a bear when off camber! Great video!
From a short guy, everything she says it's legit, especially when it comes to parking lol! I own an older ultra classic and a new ultra. Didn't know about the floor board, nice!!
I've been to two different huge Harley Dealers and no one could solve the kickstand problem short of putting a large extension on which looks horrible. Thank you soooooo much.
While everything she’s saying is true, it is still best that you can plant both feet on the ground and bend your knees a little bit, there’s no getting around the fact that that is better
I love the Parking advice! Take your time and at Walmart find a place that you can just go straight out instead of backing the bike up.great advice that gets overlooked!!

I am not a short rider at 6'4" but I've had a knee replacement and the other knee is not far behind. I learned some years ago about parking my bagger in a way that I don't have to back up because the knees just are not willing. My daughter is worried a bagger is too big because of the tippy-toes while backing up. The part about parking the bike and letting the weight of the bike work in your favor is really great not only for short riders, but also for us fellas that have worn out legs from a lifetime of labor. I am 62 next month and buying me a new bike which will be my 5th harley. My last bike which I sold 17 years ago was a 2004 Street Glide with the sluggish 88 cubic engine. When I saw the new Low Rider ST I was woah....this is my next bike. 100Lbs less than Street Glide with a 117 Inch engine, I can not think of a better biker fort my riding style. Thanks for the video. I’m 5’4” and 165lbs and I ride a streetbob. I have no problem riding my buddies streetglides and roadglides. My only problem is that trying to back the bigger bikes on my tip toes becomes a bit of a chore, especially when there is a slight incline.
That was my curiosity too. I'm 5'5, I have an 883 although I ride flat footed just the weight alone in certain locations makes it difficult to back my bike up. I can't imagine doing that on a bagger
Yes i am learning keep my Fat Boy in a ride out park .i am 5 .8" And wor betide i park forewards on a down slope as its a bummer to back off 700 lbs of Bike.
Thanks for this Video, I’m a short Filipino dude 5”6 5”7 on a good day 170lb, you just inspired me, dream of getting a bagger, preferably a Street Glide Special, or CVO depending on my wallet, I do have a little experience riding my sons Honda Shadow 600, I do ride from times, only around the blocks neighborhood wise, fastest I took it around 50-55 that’s it no Experience on hwy speeds 65+, watching this video, if she can do it so can I, with more practice what not, I should be up there 🤘🏾
Hey Courtney. Floorboard issue solved thanks to you i never would have investigated. Hinge bolts were loose so it wouldn't fold and stay up. Tightened both sides all 4. Can't wait to try left for kickstand trick. Thnks! Damn vibration on the older Harleys
I see a LOT of women about her size riding baggers. After finally riding a 2014 harley electra glide ultra classic I see why people like them so much!!! Will definitely be looking into a street glide or a road glide myself.
Thanks Guys. I jus bought my 1st 2021 Ultra Ltd. First Big Bike purchase ever. I'm a weekend rider only. And this Ultra Ltd is a heavy bike. I'm finding my bike really has enough torque at low speed to help me do slow turns. Yay - slow riding is not that big a challenge. My current fear is dealing with the weight when I am faced with some emergency stop. The break system on the bike is equally awesome. I'm about 5,6" - not that short. Huge thanks for the video. Here is my park challenge: How can I move this beast in my drive way ? I would like to see how to "walk my bike" video if you have one, please? Much appreciated.
So i currently ride a iron 883. Im 6 even but my weight is 160lbs and thats what is preventing me from buying a road glide or street glide. Might have to try it out sometime
Just have a good set of crash bars and you better make sure you don't come to a stop in the high point of the road. Oh backing the motorcycle up let's see her fo that. I have a Harley Road King and a Yamaha Fjr1300. I have a 32" inseam so on the FJR with the seat height at 32" you better be very good when stopping or backing up. As many short and old people ride Harleys they need a reverse gear option this would increase sales. I'm 5-10 and would buy one with a reverse gear.
Thank you so much...im 5 ft 4 with over 100k miles riding experience but my 2020 rglimited had me considering selling it because it just seem too big. The handlebar turn and floor board flip has me encouraged. Thanks courtney and omg for a great video. Any tip or videos about friction zone on hydraulic clutch & seats for short people?
Always say if you can’t flat foot you should just make a softtail bagger. When you get into some hills in South Dakota you can find yourself in trouble can’t touch either side before it’s too late. I’ve seen em fall all day 😂 y’all be good
Thinking bout going up to a bagger I am 5’7 but have weak legs so I would think parking and moving up hills would be hard any advise btw your are beautiful
Bravo! Awesome video. One suggestion though... It's not ALL in your head. It takes knowledge of the right techniques and practice, practice, practice. All those "bad habits" that you can get away with on a smaller bike are magnified on a large bike. Throttle control while keeping rpms up and that back brake mean everything. 👍
Harleys are the king of lower seat height. I’m not really short at 5‘11“, but I have relatively short legs with a 30 inch inseam. Most of the metrics big bikes are just too tall for me. Yeah, I can ride them, but it’s not comfortable and I’m on my tiptoes. So I chose a softail.
I just bought a 13 street glide and I come from sport bikes. The floor board ideal helps me since I’m 5’4. I am getting a new lower seat on mine and maybe next winter I will lower it a bit.
Great video. As a vertically challenged senior citizen male, my problem is not so much with the height of the seat but with the distance of the foot controls away from me which aggravates my sciatica. If I cannot sit upright with my feet almost underneath my knees, my ride ends in 20 minutes. My back has to be vertical and not in a slouch position. That's why I ride a standard Sportster with mid-controls. Which of the baggers offers mid-controls instead of forwards?
You might be more comfortable on a Heritage. Although it has floorboards, the rider triangle will support a posture that won't trigger your sciatic nerve. Good luck!
I'm only 5'6" I just got a 2015 Road Glide special. After riding a 08 Ultra Classic for like five years. The 15 Road Glide is far lower. Allowing me to put both feet on the ground flat footed. The floor boards allow me to reach the controls. Which are amazingly closer (or seem to be) than my Ultra Classic. The entire bike just seems to " Fit" me. Unlike the Ultra Classic, that was just built differently. The newer series of Road and Street Glide are built differently. Far better suspension systems. Lower inseam heights, with the availability of adjustment and or lowering. In my opinion, when there's a will, there's a way!
I'm a man that is only 5'3" and I've been riding for years but she still gave me a few good tips

That was my curiosity too. I'm 5'5, I have an 883 although I ride flat footed just the weight alone in certain locations makes it difficult to back my bike up. I can't imagine doing that on a bagger
Sometimes all it takes is a little thinking ahead when parking to put you in a better position backing up..
One of the nice things about Baggers and Dynas is their short seats
Glad I found this video! Very helpful.
Thank you for watching.
What handlebars are you using on your bike. Do you know the pullback on them? Thx
Yes i am learning keep my Fat Boy in a ride out park .i am 5 .8" And wor betide i park forewards on a down slope as its a bummer to back off 700 lbs of Bike.
The Fat Boy is a great bike, I still have mine as well. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for this Video, I’m a short Filipino dude 5”6 5”7 on a good day 170lb, you just inspired me, dream of getting a bagger, preferably a Street Glide Special, or CVO depending on my wallet, I do have a little experience riding my sons Honda Shadow 600, I do ride from times, only around the blocks neighborhood wise, fastest I took it around 50-55 that’s it no Experience on hwy speeds 65+, watching this video, if she can do it so can I, with more practice what not, I should be up there 🤘🏾
That is awesome! I am glad we could help you! Thank you for watching.
I'm 5'5 still Filipino at 190. I drive an ultra classic 17.
Hey Courtney. Floorboard issue solved thanks to you i never would have investigated. Hinge bolts were loose so it wouldn't fold and stay up. Tightened both sides all 4. Can't wait to try left for kickstand trick. Thnks! Damn vibration on the older Harleys
It's still kinda sketchy being on one's tippy toes tho....It helped quite a bit. I'm not ready for a full dresser (tippy toes)....
everyone has to do what is best for them for sure. Thank you for watching.
I see a LOT of women about her size riding baggers. After finally riding a 2014 harley electra glide ultra classic I see why people like them so much!!! Will definitely be looking into a street glide or a road glide myself.
Yep, remove the fear and it can be done. Thank you for watching.
Congradulations on your Uktra Ltb. That back brake is your freind inthose situations. That is a great video Idea, Thank you.
So i currently ride a iron 883. Im 6 even but my weight is 160lbs and thats what is preventing me from buying a road glide or street glide. Might have to try it out sometime
Youu should find a friend that has one and ask him to let you drive it. Thank you, for watching.
bought a 2019 limited in oct of 19....jamie was good to deal with
He is a good dude for sure. Thank you, for you watching.
Thanks! Now I’m ready for my Gold wing!
Yes, for sure, in general on the crash bars. Thank you, for watching.
I am making a list of things people would like to see and I will put together a video, thank you for watching and I glad it helped.
yes! seats!
Great tips keep the videos coming
Thank you!
Next one I think is me having Ryan be the passenger :) we will try to keep them coming!
Always say if you can’t flat foot you should just make a softtail bagger. When you get into some hills in South Dakota you can find yourself in trouble can’t touch either side before it’s too late. I’ve seen em fall all day 😂 y’all be good
Thanks for watching
Thanks, I needed this info.
Glad it helps.
harley really should add the reverse gear like in the goldwing in these big behemoths
Thinking bout going up to a bagger I am 5’7 but have weak legs so I would think parking and moving up hills would be hard any advise btw your are beautiful
She motivated me I’m getting it lol
That is Awesome.
I'm 5,9 and still struggle with Ultra. I guess with time I'll get it. Great video, gives me hope😂.
It takes a little time to get used to the big bikes. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for your feedback.
I’m 5’7 and I’m renting a road glider for president’s day. So I’m looking forward to riding on the road that day
It is a fun bike to ride. Thank you, for watching.
@@OMGMOTO anything I should be aware of?
@@joeihorne23 The bike is heavy just be safe and when using both brakes use more back brake than front when stopping.
@@OMGMOTO oh ok I will.
Awesome! I don’t like the look of huge bikes but food for thought here.
Courtney needs her own channel she would do well out here!
I told he that a long time ago too.
I have a softail as well.
love the RG watched a small gal one time she turned the wheel also to get the bike off the stand and then grabbed under the tank right up it went
The RG is so balanced for sure.
I've got a 2015 RGS. I lowered the front. I picked it up new with 3 miles. It's got 114,000 now.
That is some good riding.
I'm 5'4 and I've been wanting a bigger bike, but worried. I have hd 883 sportster
Go to your local dealer and test ride a few bikes. You will know what you are comfortable with. Thanks for watching.
Nice job and thanks for the kickstand tricks , I just bought a 2017 street glide special and am only 5'5 so that is very helpful....thanks
Thank you and I am glad it helped.
I just bought a 13 street glide and I come from sport bikes. The floor board ideal helps me since I’m 5’4. I am getting a new lower seat on mine and maybe next winter I will lower it a bit.
I am glad we could help.
Either a new seat or take it to a leather place that can customize seats! They can add gel, shave some of the foam!! :)
good info
Thanks
How do you backup the bike?
Like a champ!
Excellent video and very impressive !
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you!!
At 5 10 sitting on a factory 2013 road glide I can't get to the kickstand without putting it over on my right leg pretty far
I am glad you learned something new. I did not know about the floorboard trick either. We made a part 2 to this video as well. Thanks for watching.
Goods motivated...no need to thing landing gear or tilting trike.
Thank you for watching.
What kind of bike is that on the left of her when she put that kick stand up
Black 2018 RGS on the left and a maroon Road King on the right.
Liked & Subscribed, thank you for this video..u Rock!
Thank you!
Thanx you for this video man i literally made up my mind on street glide as my 1st bike 😜
@CourtneyGroom
