    I own a 2019 road glide ultra. I vote road glide. My dad owns two shark nose (2015 and 2017) and two bat wings (2012 and 2015). He won’t stop telling people to buy a road glide over a street glide. Street glide feels sporty, no doubt. But for long hauls... road glide all day.

    Common misconception: car lights don’t work by weight, they actually work with electromagnetism and measuring induction through units of measure called Henrys. There’s a metal coil loop trenched into the asphalt, when a car (large chunk of metal) sits inside the loop the induction of that loop increases. The sensor triggers the light to turn green when the induction of the coil increases.

    • @High_Desert_Tanner
      @High_Desert_Tanner Год назад +1

      "weight" still helps though, but not because of actual weight but because of the extra steel causing more of an increase in induction. My Road King trips lights every time, while my Speed Triple would very rarely trip them.

    I ended up with the Electra Glide standard. It’s my daily driver and I’m genuinely happy with it. Fathead Cycles makes a drop-in, plug and play radio kit for it and it looks a lot better once you swap that windshield for black Klockwerks shield. Anyway, to me, it’s the best value for under 20K. That being said, I wish it had come with a 2-up seat and passenger pegs like the Road King has stock. Every once in awhile I Jones for a Road Glide, but I’m happy with my standard given the price haha

    Interesting comparison format and very informative. I did something similar before choosing the 2019 EG Standard, which I got with the dual front discs (option in '19; std thereafter). Rented both and Ultra Limited and Road Glide Limited and did the usual salesman's ride on the Standard. Obviously the two Limited's were heavier. But the fairing on the RGL was miles away from me with more turbulence than the UL which positioned the bars perfectly for me. It was a windy day and side winds were NOT an issue. The final deciding factors were (1) the extra weight high up in the bars for the radio and speakers of both Limiteds along with the fact I listen through Bluetooth into my helmet from my iPhone anyhow + see weather on the iPhone and (2) the other touring accessories such as TourPak, fairing mount mirrors, Hammock seat for two, passenger floorboards, taller windshield, etc) all came out thousands (yes plural) less expensive than either Limited. So as opposed to a beginner touring bike, it was my base on which I used my 54 years of riding experience to equip for me without wasting money. Worked out great!! Thanks for the comparison report.

    Blockhead, I purchased the standard in April just after it came out. I added a stage 1 kit to it along with some more blacked out accessories. I put the street glide seat on it for some style and comfort. Approximately 8,500 miles and never had an issue. I did add the 4 inch blacked out windshield for better air flow. I no longer have the bike since a vehicle pulled out in front of me and hit me making us collide and totaling the bike. The open compartment is nice for gloves and a slightly used water bottle. I will be buying another bike, most likely a Road Glide. Near big trucks the fairing has some buffering with a batwing fairing. With you being who you are with all of the electronics and gloves I believe you’d enjoy the fairing storage of the Road Glide. P.S. this was all commented before y’all got on the bikes so it may get an edit. I’d love to hear back from you if you have FLHT questions!!

      I think not. I have ridden Street Glides, Road Glides and Limiteds. If different at all the seat height is within an inch or two between all the bikes. Same front end/same rear end/same suspension/same frame/same engine.
      Only difference is handlebars and faring.

    I own a road glide special . Even before I bought it, I test road the Street and the Road Glide. What they hate about the Road Glide is what I love about it. The inner fairing on the SGS just feels way too close and small. I fell like I have room on the RGS and the wind protection is better.

Just be extra careful when maneuvering that bike at low speeds or this thing is tipping over and believe me it’s HELL getting it up. My wife is 5'4". She started on an Iron 883, and finally convinced herself to ride my Dyna Street Bob when I was deployed last year. I then had to buy a new bike. LOL So, we traded the Sporty on a Street Glide Special. (Mine's a 2016, so a Twin Cam 103.) I'm deployed again, and she rode my SGS. I think she prefers the Dyna, but she said my SGS is "so smooth". lol It has 12" bars on it as well. I wrote that to state that if you know how to ride, you can ride anything. You don't need to be afraid of it. Shiny side up!

    Wow, looks like the SGS it is! Not bad, i rode both bikes also and the bars weren't an issue for me. The fairing on the SGS was though, i felt too cramped. Compare that to the lighting on the RGS that is far superior to the SGS and the frame mounted fairing makes highway speeds seamless. But im sure we'll see Blockenstein on a SGS soon enough, just like everyone else.

    Hi I have tried both in high winds and would take the road glide. When riding in any amount of wind, you will definitely prefer the road glide with the fixed batwing. Your arms will appreciate it. I am currently riding an Electra glide classic but plan to upgrade to a road glide ultra. Just my 2 cents worth.

    Was going to PU a 19.5 EGS when it came out but decided to wait for the '20 to come out because it comes standard with ABS ('19.5 ABS was a 900 option) / also my decision to go with EGS was based on putting new Custom Dynamics LED lights all the way around, an upgraded SONY XAV/7000 stereo system, Klockwerks windscreen and still be 10k lighter than the SGS. IMO the SGS has more color options & the 114 motor, but with all the upgrades I did on my EGS and the front tire being smaller ( tire & wheel standard on all EGS beefier tire ) I feel overall it's the best riding bike as well as best value

Definitely the same as you the looks off it are better than on it by far, don’t have that feeling with the batwing. I also don’t love the pullback bars on the RG so much. Don’t know if you have gotten you one yet, but I have the FLHT standard and love how I have been able to add a little here and there. I bought a 6 button HD radio for $150. Had it flashed at the dealer. Bought some one year old kicker speakers from Best Buy $40. All wiring already in the bike. Just plug and play if you buy H-D parts. Have not upgraded to the 114 yet and now H-D has that 128 kit. Bought LED lights all around with saddlebag guards. With the price and every upgrade is just plug and play don’t see how you can go wrong with the standard.

    The street glide special or the Electra glide are what a lot of bikers call the “me to” bike. One rider to the other, “ what bike do you ride?” Response to the question, “ A street glide”....Going back to first rider, “ me to!”.....And that’s why the road glide is better in one way. Not to mention going through twisties is a lot more stable. But, they are both great. Keep the shiny side up!

    crazy talk, the RG is the way to go for distance. It is more nimble, cuts the wind better, and you don't fight the wind with our arms. everyone here didn't like the handle bar position of the RG, but it's super easy to fix that and move them forward. on a SG, you'll have to unhook the entire fairing and lean it forward to get at the riser. also on the SG you're limited to the positions of the handlebars as you can only push them forward until they hit the fairing. Cruising, the SG is awesome. Touring, the RG is amazing. This coming from a current RG and SG owner. love them both, but each are better in different ways for different things. i love the way they both look.
