We are reading feedback constantly for these videos and a common complaint is to "not show the same clips", but we feel that putting something not relevant to the video would be distracting from the point. We will try to do this less where possible but some of these clips can take multiple attempts to digest. Hope this helped, let us know what you think and any other suggestions are welcomed! -w
do you know that spectator mode is supposed to come soon? This should help your channel out a lot! (PS - I love the pro guides, its great stuff even for a ~3900 SR player like myself)
Correct Ultimate ability usage in overwatch can guarantee team fight wins and over the course of the game amount to a large percentage of the win condition of a match. Pro teams have honed this skillset and one of the best places to see clean ultimate ability teamwork is in Korea @ APEX Season 2 going on right now. The footage used for this video was from the match between nV and MVP Infinity that did go to the full best of 5, a bit of a surprising over performance from MVP who were able to do so in large part due to their creative ultimate usage, however nV won out in the end, being the better team overall. Let us know what you think and be sure to drop a Like & Subscribe if you enjoyed!
i think you guys are ignoring the values of ults though. like, ultimate algebra is a good way to think about it but theres also more value to a zenyatta or zarya ult than, say a mccree ult or maybe a winston ult.
Your Overwatch When your using Zen then the enemy Zen used his ult then you wait for a few second to used your Ult. We won the team fight and the match.
These videos are all over the place. I don't necessarily mind you guys replaying clips, but there is no stoppage of the clips, just looping while you explain. Pause the clips, highlight what you want to show, move on. If you want to explain a different side of the same clip, replay it, then stop and highlight. Replaying the same clips while just talking 100 miles an hour and making points longer than necessary isn't doing much to help anyone.
I do love the pro players/teams fights breakdown. It gives a lot of insight to what is the max potential the game can have when pushed to its limit. In the end, it comes down to applying those concepts to my own game play, with the help of my teammates, who sometime don't communicate....So...how much is it worth dedicating the time of your amazing channel to pro plays is hard to tell. But like any other videos, these also help us out to improve our game play, one way or the other. Love your channel guys! I hope it stays live as long as it can and longer!!
Yeah, but because you have to rely on someone else to use it, it can be hard to know when to drop the ult. I feel ya Matthew; I play a lot of Ana in comp and it's hard to know when to use it; it charges pretty fast, but you never want to not have it either. Also, sometimes when it seems like a good time to use it, your teammates are all dead, so there's no one to boost.
Here's a long horror story about holding nano too long. So a friend and I play a match on Dorado on attack, I'm winston and he's roadhog. They also have a triple tank team and we're just getting rekt really badly. We're being outplayed, our dps and healing isn't getting value, my winston and his hog are basically the only one's getting kills and damage but we're just getting overwhelmed on the spawn. They're getting ult charge so fast and just casually burning through ult after ult, wiping us out. It goes to overtime and we're still on our spawn. Something changes, my friend and I find an opening and get some valuable kills, we then crush them and push the payload all the way to the first point easily. I'm now having one of the best Winston matches of my life, getting tons of kills in the backlines, I got 3-4 gold medals and am constantly on fire. Everyone else starts playing much better including the ana who is doing solid healing. We storm into the final point and push it around the last corner, and its moving up the hill. We can win it right here, I dive in, get a kill and I'm expecting a nano since its the perfect time to do so. Nothing happens and I then ult since we have lots of time left and I know we can still get the win. We almost close it out, but they stop our momentum. After that I'm starting to realize that while everyone on the team is playing really well, the ana is not nanoboosting at all. They were the only person who could have easily gotten much more value just by using nano, especially with all the healing they were doing on our three tanks. I start getting frustrated, keep telling the ana to start using their nano. It never happens and our momentum halts, we then have a bunch of intense team fights on the payload, we keep nearly winning, but always getting pushed back. In overtime on the point, Ana finally uses their first nano of the entire match (the enemy ana had used 7-8 nanos in contrast, used multiple nanos on the final point as well!), on my friends hog as he's already getting swarmed and trying to back off, he goes down, never has a chance and we lose a very intense epic match. It was one of the craziest matches I'd been in and a really great match I played, but I was pretty confident we lost because we never had nanoboosts for some reason, I am sure that if I or our dps got nanos when we were in the final point that we would have won. We came so close to winning on several teamfights but never got nanoboosts while the enemy did. Completely lost it at the Ana in the chat, they were 4 stars at least and in a brilliant display of tactical brilliance never ulted, while the other ana ulted 7 times. I was so salty after that match ended, make an insane comeback and then probably lose because of no nanoboosts. For someone who was playing well as Ana and having played the game much longer than I had, I could not understand why they were too stupid to use nanoboosts despite doing tons of healing on 3 tanks in a long long match. Tldr: played an insanely intense match on dorado, kept nearly winning it but our ana never once nanoboosted despite doing tons of healing on a triple tank team in a long match, the other ana nanoboosted 7 times, putting us at a massive disadvantage. Probably would have won with some nanos based on how close we kept coming to wiping their team. I got extremely tilted and pissed with the ana in team chat.
I like the pro analysis, but for a measly gold player like myself, I don't feel like my groups can always pull off a lot of this stuff. I hope you keep doing the non-pro lessons/commentary videos as well.
I love the way these videos are done. Especially with the analysis of pro gameplay. Easy to follow and understand with the examples playing in the background.
Your videos have taught me so damn much. I just won a competitive match even though a someone on our team left halfway through by staying calm and using the strategies you always talk about. It was lit.
I'm really enjoying these pro analysis videos (and I'd be a lot more likely to actually pay attention to the casting of pro matches if the casters all had Freedo's level of understanding of the game). I really like that there are some solid nuggets of wisdom that we can take back to our own play, and even to help understand other high level play. I think one of the things that you guys do really well is creating and explaining the kinds of concepts and mental models that allow a shared understanding and vocabulary. So keep up the great work y'all!
Sure, give her the ability to overheal. Pressing E gives her healing target a temporary boost of health that slowly decays over time and doesn't come back if lost to damage. If her target isn't at full health, it's just a quick heal.
No, she need mobility and her abilities adjusted for the current way things play out. Shes overshadowed as a healer by someone like Ana and Lucio and only really has one good use these days: Res. If you play mercy and don't res, you probably were better off playing Ana tbh. Shes slow unless she has others around to use Guardian Angel, She cant escape any sticky situation, shes ultra squishy to any flanking DPS with two cents of a brain to know how to aim, annnnnnnd she has really no effective way to defend herself unless you're good with headshots and her pistol. Where Ana can essentially win any fight shes in if you play her smart enough and Lucio has plenty of getaway options. Shes a poor single healer who has low survival in the current meta and poor mobility. She just needs to be buffed in what she has, an E would just put a bandaid on the problem.
Two things: 1. Definitely make more of these - they're easily my favorite part of the channel's content. 2. Freedo, you should be a commentator for these things! You definitely have the voice and the knowledge.
I like these videos! It really helps out when duo-6 queuing. Also with the repeated footage, I'm able to annahlize the full out come better 👍 keep up the good work!
great video man good breakdown. I just watched that that bo5 it was down to the wire man I love professional overwatch there are so many layers to the game
I absolutely love the pro breakdowns. Keep doing what you're doing guys :) Love the channel, its helped me so so so much in my playing. You guys are the besy
I think you guys should make more helpful videos on ultimates, it helps me out in platinum a whole lot and i think it would help everyone else a ton as well, keep it up guys!
8:25 In my experience, that type of play is incredibly risky because, while you might catch the enemy of guard and do significant damage to them, if even two of them see you, you're screwed, especially if you're ulting as McCree
I love this "Advanced" stuff. More please. idea: Could be cool, to have complete advanced map guides with: call outs, usual strategy, which parts are easy and which are harder. Like where u should and should not engage, where its good to stand as reinhardt, where to hold a choke and so on.
I really like seeing stuff like this. I think it's cool to have an insight into how the game is meant to be played when players are skilled and coordinated. Unfortunately, it's not really applicable to where I'm playing (mid Plat); even after fighting my way up from silver, it's frustrating to see players who do not seem either more mechanically skilled or more motivated to coordinate that 500 SR ago. So, while I'd like to learn lessons from this, it can unfortunately be counterproductive because of the way the game is played in plat. I'd love to have teammates to combo ults with, and be able to work together to target enemies effectively and systematically, but where I'm playing, there's rarely enough coordination to even pop Zarya and Reaper ults at the same time. So while it's neat to see this and I wish with all my heart I had people to play with who don't throw away a Roadhog ult to kill a flanking Genji because they can't hit hook, or Dead Eye (high noon) because they can't kill a Pharah in the sky, it's just not really applicable. With what I have to work with, it's often better to just Earthshatter, Nano Boost or Deathblossom relatively soon after I get it, because if I wait to try to combo, I'll end up holding onto it the whole game because no one communicates or cooperates.
I definitely like this style of video, and especially that you use bonified pro footage. I do think however that it could be useful to throw in a few examples from your own gameplay
I really like this Pro stuff a lot, it helps to analize what to do in Game more :3 (Even f in this case in Solo it's pretty hard to coordinate with people Panic-Ulting half of the times :p) I hope you'll make a Video About a Pro Phara or a Pro Hog freedo, this are 2 Characters i recently started using a lot and would like to learn more :D
I would love more these Pro tip videos. Two points away from Platinum videos have helped me already. what's up with this new meta? are two tanks even viable anymore or is it too much strain on the healers?
should I buy this game? I love to play 20v20 10v10 games etc and I don't have a friend to play with, I heard you will get destroyed when you don't have a teammate that you can communicate with
Everything under Master Rank is a 50/50 thing, 50% chance you get in the good team, which will win, no matter what u do. 50% chance you get in the crap team, which will lose no matter what you do.
Overwatch's max players in most game modes is 6v6; the 10v10 or 20v20 action you're talking about doesn't happen in Overwatch, if that's what you're asking. Overwatch can be a really fun game, but if things go poorly for several games in a row, it can become frustrating. Playing solo in comp is tough, but it can be done. My recommendation is not to touch comp until you reach level 100 though; that's how long I waited, and I think it's about how long you need to get the mechanical skill and game sense required to play in a serious environment. That's just my 2 cents though.
Apocalypse320 the worst thing you can ever do this can maybe go well in plat but not higher because even without ult a genji is very countable with ur strategy
KmsReal Oh really? Hmmm it probably succeeds a lot for me because I usually play everything else but comp. I should get my placement because I didn't do it yet oops 😅
Hey, Its just a thought, But maybe you guys could do a couple videos of a pro playing specific Hero. Like Some Pro Playing Ana or Genji and Trying to explain their Mindset? I dont know. Just a thought...
Would actually be more interested to see how they use in in quick play and the like. Without their usual team; Because it's all well and good to say that you must combine ults and trade ults well, but without a coordinated 6-man team, it's real unlikely to be an actual reality. Just my 2 cents anyway
Hey Your Overwatch, could you do a quick video how to counter a "Bastion hiding behind Reinhardt's shield with Mercy behind on top of the payload"? It is one of the most frustrating combos for me.
Hmm your commentary in this video seems to focus on both teams knowing which team has the ult advantage. As spectators, we of course have full knowledge of the ult counts for both teams. How accurately do pro teams estimate how many ults the enemy team has most of the time? (since they seem to never run sombra)
Very accurately. It's not actually very hard to do, but it's maybe an area where OW players with an MMO or MOBA competitive background have an easier learning curve, since it's similar to the way you have to keep track of many enemy cooldowns in those types of games.
As annoying as it is... I think that's kind of how Roadhog was designed. To be a one-shot hero for anything that isn't a tank. And he doesn't do 400 damage to Winston (I know, I'm a Winston main myself) because Winston has a bit of armor, but it is still brutal. Just learn to respect the hook's range, play around your bubble, and jump the hell out of there when you get low, and you can do fine. And sometimes you just have to switch; some heroes straight up counter others.
I like it but I the game is fast moving and I can't follow the action you are talking about. So I would suggest slowing some of the important action to make it easy to follow.
It's prob just me, but I am always thrown off when they don't go after the red outlined characters. Makes sense tho in a competitive gaming sense for spectators.
than it in slow mode while you talk or point things up, or freeze frame.
do you know that spectator mode is supposed to come soon? This should help your channel out a lot! (PS - I love the pro guides, its great stuff even for a ~3900 SR player like myself)
Your Overwatch just keep the great videos coming!!
Your Overwatch I think the video was done quite well. Replaying the clips emphasizes the point you made.
+Slavic Delic They did
freedo's energy and ster being a smart ass would make for some fun tournament co casting
Yes please. Would enjoy listening to that kind of commentary.
Make it Star, Freedo and Jerma, and I'm sold.
SnArCAsTiC then freedo would basically be 3rd wheeling at that point. probably be pretty weird tbh
would still be better than that fucking middle caster
for a moment there I though I read Greedo and almost replied, "Why did you roast poor greedo?"

720p don't look like 720p

Sometimes I feel like I hold nano boost for too long
matthew evans nano can be used to shift the team fight in your favour (even if no other ults are available) just like Lucios ult.
Yeah, but because you have to rely on someone else to use it, it can be hard to know when to drop the ult. in short: let the enemy wipe yours with ults first, then you wipe them later with yours and win the push
MyViolador Doesn't always work. Especially if they have the high ground
it's over anakin , I have the high ground!
MyViolador no you have the lava ground
No... you missed the point of all the ult combos and counter ulting
Genji is just Anakin and Hanzo is Obi-Wan... but who is Luke?
I like it when you use pro games to teach us how to play better. You talk about things I normally don't notice!
I like the pro analysis, but for a measly gold player like myself, I don't feel like my groups can always pull off a lot of this stuff. I hope you keep doing the non-pro lessons/commentary videos as well.
Wow probably best video by you guys in awhile, great work!
I love the way these videos are done. Especially with the analysis of pro gameplay. Easy to follow and understand with the examples playing in the background.
I'd be interested to see more videos of this type.
Your videos have taught me so damn much. I just won a competitive match even though a someone on our team left halfway through by staying calm and using the strategies you always talk about. It was lit.
You learn from the best! Keep doing these videos it helps a lot
These are great! I would love to see more of these! I enjoy play by play scenarios that show in depth the thought process that these pro players have.
I like these pro breakdown type vids
same
Yup especially as I don't usually get to watch Overwatch tournaments
I'm really enjoying these pro analysis videos (and I'd be a lot more likely to actually pay attention to the casting of pro matches if the casters all had Freedo's level of understanding of the game). Does mercy need an E ?
No, she has a secondary weapon and a passive. She's not lacking abilities. Blizz just needs to improve the ones she already has.
lolosh99 they need to fix her res because there were so many times mercy wad closr to me and i didnt get ressed
Sure, give her the ability to overheal. Pressing E gives her healing target a temporary boost of health that slowly decays over time and doesn't come back if lost to damage. If her target isn't at full health, it's just a quick heal.

Ross Jones no, that would make Pharah si op
Two things:
1. Definitely make more of these - they're easily my favorite part of the channel's content.
2. Freedo, you should be a commentator for these things! You definitely have the voice and the knowledge.
I like these videos! It really helps out when duo-6 queuing. Also with the repeated footage, I'm able to annahlize the full out come better 👍 keep up the good work!
love the pro-gameplay breakdowns. Some the most helpful content you have created
Talking about the ult economy is good to hear and learn about.

Wow you put lots of effort into these videos, they're great! Major props!
I like these pro videos that explain the reasonings behind their moves, love the content on this channel
pls do more of the proanalysis videos. These ult-meta explanations are very interesting and definitely help understanding the game better :)

Always enjoy these pro analysis videos. It even helps me in my diamond games
yes! that was awesome! Please make more of these!
I think you guys should make more helpful videos on ultimates, it helps me out in platinum a whole lot and i think it would help everyone else a ton as well, keep it up guys!
I love the pro-breakdown videos! Please keep doing more
to answer your question. yes please I would love to see more videos like this from you. great job!
Interesting and helpful info, I have been liking the more pro related guides/info.
i have enjoyed all the pro videos, and with the analysis I can usually pick up at least one thing to add to my game
8:25 In my experience, that type of play is incredibly risky because, while you might catch the enemy of guard and do significant damage to them, if even two of them see you, you're screwed, especially if you're ulting as McCree
These videos are amazing! Please more of these!
the way you break this game down is amazing
terry cruise unskippable ad b4 vid....... doomfist confirmed!!!

Please more videos like this guys! This is what I learn from!

Great stuff dudes, keep going !
Good video. I would like to see more of these.
That earth shatter from behind to get the nanoboosted enemy was fire
as someone that doesn't play overwatch, these are my FAVORITE of the YO videos.
The genji went into wrath mode in the beginning attacking that Winston xD
I really enjoyed this video. Very informative
Excellent videos, keep em coming
Do more videos like this...great job :)
Can you make a video on mechanics, both what skills are important and how to improve them?
Yes! More of these pro game analyses!
this is prob your guys best video. or at least one of the best.
I really like this Pro stuff a lot, it helps to analize what to do in Game more :3 (Even f in this case in Solo it's pretty hard to coordinate with people Panic-Ulting half of the times :p)
I hope you'll make a Video About a Pro Phara or a Pro Hog freedo, this are 2 Characters i recently started using a lot and would like to learn more :D
The enemy team having blue outlines never fails to trip me up, lmao.
More pro stuff please! Good strat commentary is always needed.
yes...do more videos like this, analysis of the pros
more pro vod reviews pls. it's a better learning experience
I like these a lot and want more please.
I would love more these Pro tip videos. Two points away from Platinum videos have helped me already. what's up with this new meta? are two tanks even viable anymore or is it too much strain on the healers?
Ryan Kagero overlord there's an entire meta discussion video released earlier today/yesterday
Oh I must have missed it thanks!
I do enjoy these analytic videos :3
i feel like these are improving my game sense, so i like them
Oh finally a video where the speaker doesnt open with trying to say their nickname as fast as humanly possible.
I'd like to hear you do commentary at a LAN Freedo. I feel like you'd have a lot of insight to bring.
where do you Steam competitive overwatch? the channel overwatch competitive has been closed so i dont know where to look. any help would be nice
freedo the war-tactician
Where does Your Overwatch find this footage? I would like to watch some pro play, but I don't know where to look.
can you make a video about how to counter sym and torb in ctf?
This is the best fucking Overwatch channel, you remind me of gamexplain, but only on overwatch competitively
I like this type of analysis
I was wondering why the quality was so low, too early
I'd love to see pros play with the new patch analyzed.
should I buy this game? I love to play 20v20 10v10 games etc and I don't have a friend to play with, I heard you will get destroyed when you don't have a teammate that you can communicate with
Everything under Master Rank is a 50/50 thing, 50% chance you get in the good team, which will win, no matter what u do. 50% chance you get in the crap team, which will lose no matter what you do.
Mert oh okay but what about 6v6 I like big maps and big player counts but will that fit into overwatch?
Michiel Bijlsma i have fun without my friend because my rank is too high ^^
Overwatch's max players in most game modes is 6v6; the 10v10 or 20v20 action you're talking about doesn't happen in Overwatch, if that's what you're asking. Overwatch can be a really fun game, but if things go poorly for several games in a row, it can become frustrating. Playing solo in comp is tough, but it can be done. My recommendation is not to touch comp until you reach level 100 though; that's how long I waited, and I think it's about how long you need to get the mechanical skill and game sense required to play in a serious environment. That's just my 2 cents though.
SnArCAsTiC thnx for replying so you can play just unranked matches and ranked matches with competition and ranks?
really like your guys stream, wish you guys played on xbox, would love some personal tips on how to improve my game.
I always wait for the enemy team to waste their ults, then I come in with my dragonblade while being nanoboosted and then we win the fight.
Apocalypse320 xd 😃
Hey, Its just a thought, But maybe you guys could do a couple videos of a pro playing specific Hero. Like Some Pro Playing Ana or Genji and Trying to explain their Mindset? I dont know. Just a thought...
Yesh, more of this plz
Would actually be more interested to see how they use in in quick play and the like. Without their usual team; Because it's all well and good to say that you must combine ults and trade ults well, but without a coordinated 6-man team, it's real unlikely to be an actual reality.
Just my 2 cents anyway
I like the pro breakdowns
Hey Your Overwatch, could you do a quick video how to counter a "Bastion hiding behind Reinhardt's shield with Mercy behind on top of the payload"? It is one of the most frustrating combos for me.
Really great video! But I have to let you know, that's not how you use the term "value proposition"
I learned a lot here. EXCEPT that WHEN I WANT TO REAP AND FIND ULTS. I STILL LEARNED NOTHING. You did not talk about individual timing AT ALL.
Yes even more pro analysis!!
what was that at the beginning? triple tank without roadhog?
i get the point of using one ult to counter 2, but in the example (last TF) you shown, the wining team actualy uses 3 ults, to counter 2.
When your team is so good they have one of the best dps in the game on Winston. That's some BM
Little off topic but do you think they will nerf roadhogs damage he basically 1 shots Winston doing upwards of 400 damage
Nah I have Skyline for VoDs You guys for meta and Stylosa for the memes.
Plz make a bastion buff video
Genjis is almost unsusqble on console thanks to the max sensitivity being to slow to follow some targets.
More pro VODs Pls.
Good job! That thought me alot! XD
Video in a nutshell: Kill more than 1 target with an Ultimate, or use yours to stop enemy Ultimates.
