I got the #1 Tip you need to listen to: Listen to "Don't Stop me Now" by Queen, works 80% of the time, I ranked up 300 SR while listening to it, and when I turned it off I dropped 200...
Assault or 2 Capture Point is a difficult mode to grasp how to play if you're unfamiliar with it. In this video, FREEDO breaks down some Professional Overwatch Gameplay to dissect how pros take engagements on the mode. When played properly, 2CP is a high octane frag-fest, but in matchmaking, it often slows to a crawl. Understanding the win-condition of the mode can help gel a team together towards that objective to take these hard to capture points.
if you have the time you can do a dry push by forcing enemy ultimates out in a panic. Focusing a lucio, or zen to force a defensive ult out so that in the next teamfight they can't counter your dps is huge. It's more about gamesense than mechanics, and people fail to realize that.
thatguyunknoe A similar concept I use is to bait a key ultimate out, like a Trancendence or Sound Barrior by having a teammate pop an ultimate that builds fast or focusing on a target that's a high priorty. I'm only in the higher Plat range so most players fall for it more often.
Best video on 2cp maps. Finally I understand... you do the hokey pokey, charge ults, then reset and rush in quickly to spend them. Took me a year to understand this and only thanks to this video.
This is a cool video, but does anyone else get that feeling when you've done so well on 1st point, then gets ult wiped in the 2nd point. Again, and again, and again. This isn't rly a problem in 6 stacks, because communication keeps morale high and strategies free flowing. But in Solo queue, it's like we know that it worked 1st point, and it's so hard to adapt to the 2nd because of the shock that the same strat isn't working anymore? Of course i'm only talking about the lower ranks, gold to bronze, and it would really help if you guys made a video concerning this. However, Great vid as always! It really showed me some cool stuff that i'll be sure to try out in competitive. Much love
Yeah thats how 2cp feels, even at masters. You just need to make sure you're grouping up and popping ults at the right time to contest. If you see someone constantly pushing in when team fights are already lost, tell him in voice chat, kindly, to group up instead of going in solo. And dont get cocky on defense lol, they can take the point in no time.
They've talked about it before in videos, but a big part of it is respawn advantage, yeah. On point 1, attack has respawn advantage, but it's flipped for point 2. For point 1, you only really have to win a team fight and not necessarily wipe, and then your trickling-in respawns will beat theirs because your spawn is closer. On point 2, their spawn is literally a wall away from the point; you have to wipe them to start taking the point. And point 1 isn't incredibly defense-sided in setup, whereas point 2 definitely is, so running the same team comp may not even work; the map geometry very much informs the way team fights go. Point 1 is fairly open, but point 2 is closed off, making line of sight for both healers and snipers harder to get and keep when you're trying to push in. I think what often frustrates people about point 2 though is that even if you win a team fight and start capping, the defense can often shut down the offense by popping just an ult or 2. Mei's ult, D.Va's ult, even a Roadhog or Pharah ult can fairly easily retake the point for the defenders, as they probably only have to contend with the 3 or 4 people left from winning the previous team fight, who probably also don't have ults of their own ready again, since they probably just used them to wipe the defenders. I have found that one of the best strategies for taking point 2 is to engage with offensive ults (Reinhardt, any nano combo, Zarya, D.Va, etc.) and then keep one defensive ult in store if possible (usually Zen or Lucio, although Mercy's or even Mei's can work because it gives you either time to cap or frozen enemies, but that's only if you have a Mei on attack), for when the enemy comes back with their ult push. Most people know this, but ults are really important in Overwatch. Ults are even more important in 2 CP though, because to win the second point in 2 CP, you need a team wipe, and ults are the simplest way to do that, regardless of skill level. You can't just throw ults at the point and expect to win, but if make sure to use one or 2 ults together to win a fight (Genji/Zarya ult, Reaper/Ana ult, Pharah/Rein ult, etc.), and then leave some in reserve, that's how to take and hold the point.
Gold to bronze my ass, 2cp is still a problems in masters... (at least the games I have). Always someone getting picked off when pushing for B before even all arrive back form spawn...
That was fantastic pro analysis Freedo! I have to add my voice to the masses clamoring for more pro analysis and awesome slo-mo stuff like what we saw here. Seeing that play out with your commentary was VERY satisfying. Super important thing though: When are we going to see Madden-esque drawings all over your videos? That's how you know that you're a REAL commentator, Freedo! /s
I don´t like 2CP mechanics at all, but I often play in 4,5,6stack, and we can often coordinate enough to get 2nd point, especially since I main zarya and my friend mains pharah, and we just ult combo and wipe them. I often times really enjoy 2cp games (mainly anubis, it´s the ´best´ of the 3 2cp maps') but in soloqueue it´s just one big mess of uncoordinated pushes.
I actually enjoy the hard buckled defense of hanamura first point. It's like holding down the fort when the smallest mistake can cost you the match. I think a lot of people don't like it because it severely punishes you for the smallest errors
2CP is possibly my favorite gamemode, actually. Mainly because of the B points and how much plain fun they are to play as on attack or defense, even though I'm not a fan of the A points as much. Control maps are the ones that I dislike the most.
I always know when a "your overwatch" video is by freedo or the other guys by title alone. I always enjoy hearing what freedo has to say compared to the other two guys but anywho...you guys are awesome keep it up.
Funilly enough, this is probably the game mode that me and my team succeed at the most. While we are not professional, we are fairly good and one of the few teams that does not solo que. The reason we succeed the most I believe is that most teams like to run a spread on the defensive front in order to not get into a team fight that they will loose. The problem with this idea is if you have an organized team they can go around easily winning 1 v 2 or 1 v 3 engagements and take the point without an issue. If on defense you know to defend as a team and do it successfully then I believe this can be one of the easiest to learn and most hectic yet fun modes to play.
I think Blizzard should put that little HUD where you can see the health and Ultimate status of your entire team in spectator, but for the players to see. Obviously without showing you the enemy team's info. That way you can see how everyone's holding up with their health and ultimate and to see if you're missing a teammate due to respawn, all in the blink of an eye by just quickly looking at the top right corner, even when your in the middle of the mayhem from a push. I think it would help and it wouldn't hurt to put it (at least for me)
You don't get to choose which maps you play on in quick play either. You'd have to only play custom games for this. Which means having 12 players on hand everytime you want to play.
Recently you guys ahve been doing videos and pro analysis using this term squad comp, and while the idea of a dive or deathball should be well known to us I would kind of like to see a video detailing the composition, playstyle, and win conditions of a squad comp similar to what you did with your video detailing the dive comp
Won 2 consecutive comp games on Anubis, played attack first both, first game capped both with 6 min left, second game capped both with 6:22 left. lol I doubt I'll ever have good games like that again.
*answer to title they have comunication and when *WHEN 1 GOES, THE OTHERS FOLOW* they also do something most ppl dont do (at least on my rank, 2420), they *WAIT IN THE SPAWN TO REGROUP, AND DONT GO POKE, RESULTING IN ULT FEED*
I like 2cp the most, it takes the most team coordination and skill to win. It punishes bad teams. Maybe not the best thing on quickplay, but it's perfect for competitive environment and e-sports.
As a tank player, I just have to geek out about Winghaven baiting the enemy earthshatter by turning away and then flipping back to block it for no value on that last push. If he doesn't block that his team almost certainly loses.
I was actually solo queuing into a comp match and pulled off a textbook double cap on hoamoora(totally spelled that wrong) in a minute and 26 seconds with six solo ques because people were willing to listen I met one of the best Reinhardt players I've ever played with that day
I think that if you take the first point the re spawn times for the defense increase for the second point to keep it a little more even. Nothing crazy maybe just 3 or so seconds.
At 4:54 you said that road hog got a nerf that was technically a buff for pro road hog players. Road hog got a buff for anyone who plays him. He is extremely easy, overpowered, and needs a nerf.
Is it best to have the Dive comp for attacking on this Game Mode? Also is the Tank Meta best for defense for this game mode? Or does both Dive Comp and Tank Meta equal with this type of game mode regardless if you're attack or defending?
Freedo...the spawn advantage is whats the big problem with the second point in 2 CP, right? A teleporter can flip that on its head...even out the spawns, just gotta put it down while the hectic fight is happening, then sustain on the point, ur respawns will be the same as the defenders
I wonder what a 2/4 second increased respawn on quickplay 2cp wold effect the game? like for real leave it out of custom/comp games, but have it for quickplay, I wonder if it'd bring 2cp in line with the casual experience of the rest of the game or not, or if it'd just mean attack shut outs happen more often
Where do you got this clips. I really wish to see some tournaments or profesional games of this patch. I really wanna see if they are using sombra or more genji etc etc. plz tell me.
Why does everybody hate 2 cp so much? I kinda like it, it's DEFINITELY way better than the fucking king of the hill that's making up 80% of Overwatches map rotation nowerdays.
UwotM8? Well because it's hard to deal with because of how spawns are set up compared to KOTH, and unlike payload maps (which have the same setup as 2CP), it's static. You and the enemy team alternate between having a spawn close to the control point, move to second round, same deal. It's infuriating. And often this ends in a draw. You spent 20-30 minutes just to get a Draw. There's a way around it but that doesn't make it less annoying.
Ryan G-P That's your opinion. I absolutely hate koth... it's just so boring and I fucking hate the maps. I really enjoy 2 cp for some reason even if there are so many draws.
Objective A is always incredibly easy to get. Objective B.....ha might as well consider it a loss if you're on attack. Unless you have a team that are all on the same page.
I think that 2CP is very hard and I want to see it changed for a better match matching experience. However I would hate the Change for pros because 2CP for pro are some of the best matches to watch for clear concise exciting team fights.
its koth that i struggle with.. 2cp can go either way depending on how aggressive you and your team are.. but i play a lot of ana and on koth i feel like healers struggle so much
Hanamura is fine but Temple of Anubis is one of the most frustrating maps to play. I need to research better strategies for attack on Temple because most of the teams I end up on never get past the poking stage.
Clayton B Hmmm, I just want to think about the future.. I want a graphics card that will last until I need something better. I haven't built yet and this will be my first PC. I just want to do it right :)
How non-pros play: See 3 allies nearby and think that equals "group up and charge". Guys, really. Count your allies when initiating a fight. Seeing 4 people and thinking you are grouped up will just get the trickle feed going. Always fight as a 6 man team unless you hit overtime or have a clear numbers advantage from previous enemy frags.
Did...did Nicolas actually get TWO pharah ult in that last fight (which happened pretty quick and wasn't too long spanned)...damn...like...wow. Maybe the first ult wss the other pharah's but I'm pretty sure it's his..like....damn
Do you guys focus more on american/western comp or do you also try to analyse korean play? it feels like you've focused overwhelmingly on western teams in these videos not really a criticism, these vids are great, just wondering why it seems to be the case
I'm enjoying these videos but I feel like I'm not really learning anything. When I go into games my team won't know this information so what's the point?
It funny but if people used Sombra in those fights in which you know the enemy team has Ults you can totally mess up their 'Ult Economy' and delay their ult usage. Honestly think that Sombra's passive ability should show Ults not critical health enemies
I honestly just wish they would remove this game-mode or increase defensive spawn timers. I think the overall premise of the game-mode is counter to every other in Overwatch.
Im not a pro, but when i play genji on assault and the enemy team is grouped up at a choke point, i always get on the point via a flank route to distract my enemies. They will come to me and then my team can make a psh and get thru that choke point.
I wouldn't mind 2 cp if the win condition wasn't whichever team completely caps the point gets a point. I'd like it to be more like payload where whoever pushes the farthest wins; so for 2 cp instead of the way it currently plays, it's whoever caps the point the most wins with draws only happening when both teams hit 99% and can't manage to cap it in time or both teams cap both points completely. It's so annoying getting it 99% capped and you lose because def just trickles in until they manage to wipe enough of your team and then you hold them off all next round but they get the 1st point and barely touch the second or sometimes don't touch it at all but you still draw. You undoubtedly played better than them. You just got stalled out because respawn advantage is on their side.
god the endless poke battles. i usually play zarya (assbags that throw games beacause people pick heroes they dont like prevents me from using widow) and there is nothing more frustrating than bubbling a winston/genji charging in behind them only to realize the rest of the team is back hiding behind a wall. afraid of dying? I dont know. but i have lost many a match because everyone goes in one at a time or not at all.
Yeah, this is true, but it's much more difficult for players to work together like pros. That's why there pros. This is good advice but I think the problem is more the inability of random teams of people to cooperate than it is a lack of understanding.
I love overwatch, I binge played it for months and am prestige 1 lvl 80, but I just stopped playing it I've watched almost all of your videos and idk y but I just got tired of people that didn't know how to play the game, toxic people, and whenever I choked it made me mad. I want to play this game again and love it like I used to, what can I do to like it and see it differently?
Well my thoughts it's still that personally if they remove this mode i won't be sad XD It's interesting analising this, but here we see people knwoing what to do and everything, how many times in Solo team not even not Dive, Don't Group up at all! That's the main problem, how many games i manage to won just because 4-5 people in my team managed to group up we went in togehter and the enemies didn't know what to do, not even diving, just going in...
2 cp is terrible... the draw rate on those maps should give Blizzard everything they need to make some changes so that doesn't happen so often. I also have a constant problem with people poking at the point and charging the defenders ults. I got lucky on the 2nd point one time where my team actually rushed in with me even though one of our members wasn't back from spawn yet (ana). I jumped into the fight solo as soldier and luckily everyone followed... The reason I jumped is I saw their D.Va and soldier decided to try and flank us and the heals just stood on the point in the open with no cover when I had ult ready. before they could react I had killed both healers and Zarya wasted her shields on herself and the wrong healer when she heard my alt go off. So now its 5 v 4, but two of the 4 are off point, and one of the tanks is out of abilities to protect herself and our 6th is on the way. I did end up dying to Zarya but by that point there was little chance for them to recover. Everyone on my team is alive but me on soldier who one of the faster characters to get back to point, most of my team has alts because they didn't need them to take out their team. Sadly this kind of thing never happens. Normally we have a rein that stands at a choke and gets blasted by the defense until his shield is down.
Another issue I have ran into is people don't understand attackers have the advantage on the first point and defenders have the advantage on the second. The issue I see is that people never change characters on attack but they always seem to on defense. The number of times I have ran into a bastion and/or Torb on the 2nd point when there wasn't one on the first is far to many to count.
what if instead of a draw the game keeps going until one side wins (give both teams 1min, eventually one team will win. Of course, only when the game would result in a draw like both teams capping with no time left)
It's not that I dislike Freedo (even tho I come off like I do) it's just that I prefer Weegal and Eddy over Freedo. I listen to enough people with American like accents at home and studying communications I find non American accents intriguing. I meant no disrespect
Well, it basically takes 40 min out of your time and gives each team 3 sr
YEAHHHH!
Brian Zhou You mean competitive points.
King Ping Bell In season 2, winning at top 500 would give you about 3 SR, so he's not entirely wrong
***** i was trying to make him look less of an idiot ok?
i think he's talking about drawing here
I got the #1 Tip you need to listen to: Listen to "Don't Stop me Now" by Queen, works 80% of the time, I ranked up 300 SR while listening to it, and when I turned it off I dropped 200...
Tony Flamingo will do, nothing to lose
tooooniiight, I'm gonna have myself.... a good time.....

Your Overwatch Just got the game and Im loving Genji
im pretty sure everyone loves genji at first, or bastion, that said if you get good at him he can be devestating
QTMK x no plz learn healer we have enough genji mains already
Q85aloofQ8 but I love him :(
Q85aloofQ8 Healer is boring :/
Yesterday night, Ster was streaming, and his stream title was:
Temple of hanamura industries
Pretty accurate
McCripple Yep every fucking second game is a koth map. Kill me.
Lucio the Cheerio sarcasm??
Lucio the Cheerio They're not koth maps smh
It was a sarcasm obviously
+Lucio the Cheerio How do _you_ define sarcasm?

yeah that works, I always try and call for that when I get a 2cp map in comp
thatguyunknoe 2 CP is what seperates the people who are good at FPS games, and people who are good at Overwatch.
thatguyunknoe It requires legit startegy, and it relies on trusting your team fully. I love it.
How pros play 2cp maps. They ban them.
They don't.
Not in korea.
Hands down, the best videos you guys do is breaking down pro play, all are good but these certainly shine
Best video on 2cp maps. Finally I understand... you do the hokey pokey, charge ults, then reset and rush in quickly to spend them. Took me a year to understand this and only thanks to this video.

that's pretty much everyone

Honestly I don't mind 2 cp. However, I hate king of the hill...
yep, thats me.
i just have a special hate for koth dont know hwy

Tell that to Weagal
as a support player i find king of the hill terrifying

Solution: Don't play 2cp. it sucks.
Islarf lol
... Do you play Overwatch? You don't get to choose which maps you play on in comp... or most other game modes for that matter.
SnArCAsTiC then don't play competitive ;) problem solved.

Fastest match I've ever had on 2CP was about 30 to 45 seconds attacking on Temple of Anubis. It was pretty damn awesome.

At 4:54 you said that road hog got a nerf that was technically a buff for pro road hog players. Road hog got a buff for anyone who plays him. He is extremely easy, overpowered, and needs a nerf.
you think this pro match is exiting ?
you haven't seen my 8-8 draw in temple of anubis
sliz sliz what a fucking waste of time lol
Is it best to have the Dive comp for attacking on this Game Mode? Also is the Tank Meta best for defense for this game mode? Or does both Dive Comp and Tank Meta equal with this type of game mode regardless if you're attack or defending?
You guys should do a pro analysis on hybrid maps!!
Freedo...the spawn advantage is whats the big problem with the second point in 2 CP, right? A teleporter can flip that on its head...even out the spawns, just gotta put it down while the hectic fight is happening, then sustain on the point, ur respawns will be the same as the defenders
add turrets to the point and you're golden
That moment where you try to have your team group up for a team fight but don't understand the concept so they trickle in to die.
Congrats on 300k holy shit!
freedo is my fave tbh
When was this match and what channel was it on
Congrats on 300k
***** I know, but I still think it's way more fun than fucking koth every second game...
Koth has at least even spawns and it just comes down to who is picking counters and playing better.
it also comes down to who has the best lucio in the team lol
Ryan G-P That's your opinion. I absolutely hate koth... it's just so boring and I fucking hate the maps. I really enjoy 2 cp for some reason even if there are so many draws.
Great video!
Objective A is always incredibly easy to get. Objective B.....ha might as well consider it a loss if you're on attack. Unless you have a team that are all on the same page.
can u do a video on all the synergies within the game, I'm having a hard time seeing all of them
I think that 2CP is very hard and I want to see it changed for a better match matching experience. However I would hate the Change for pros because 2CP for pro are some of the best matches to watch for clear concise exciting team fights.
I don't know why I always watch these "how pros do this or that" videos. I'm never gonna be a pro so meh lol great video btw
MammaLuigi117 maybe you can learn something from it?
Any "coaching" vids coming up soon?
Hirschy Kirkwood go to Freedo's channel for Coach Freedo coaching.
Notification squad where u at
Yo
THANK YOU FINALLY!!! Someone explain what I tell teams but will they listen now?
The Great Wall was a cool movie
its koth that i struggle with..
Is it worth going from a $299 gtx 1060 3gb - $399 gtx 1060 g1 gaming 6gb?
TheCasualGamer lol, neither of them are worth
Both of those prices are very high. $315 for the 6gb at my micro center. There are even 1070s for under 400 that are much better.
TheCasualGamer I would say no but it's up to you
HyperJ Gaming Australian dollars...
Clayton B Hmmm, I just want to think about the future.. I want a graphics card that will last until I need something better. I haven't built yet and this will be my first PC. I just want to do it right :)
I thought the title says assbutt...man I watch so much Supernatural
every mode has its difficulty, i like 2 cp personally
ZDY no Nicolas only got 1. He other was ube. Thought the same thing at first
Freedo! Thanks for not singing, homie.
Do you guys focus more on american/western comp or do you also try to analyse korean play? it feels like you've focused overwhelmingly on western teams in these videos
not really a criticism, these vids are great, just wondering why it seems to be the case
Winghaven is so good...
Im not a pro, but when i play genji on assault and the enemy team is grouped up at a choke point, i always get on the point via a flank route to distract my enemies. They will come to me and then my team can make a psh and get thru that choke point.
King of the hill is the best.
Why can't we have that player count on the top of the screen like that? Not for the enemy team but for you team. Seems like it would help trickling.
2nd round of 2cp. "Oh sweet, we have to stand around this point for 5 minutes for a draw."
I think the most displeasing part of 2 CP is the lack of tie Breakers.
I actually like the game mode. probably more than King of the Hill
god the endless poke battles. i usually play zarya (assbags that throw games beacause people pick heroes they dont like prevents me from using widow) and there is nothing more frustrating than bubbling a winston/genji charging in behind them only to realize the rest of the team is back hiding behind a wall. afraid of dying? I dont know. but i have lost many a match because everyone goes in one at a time or not at all.
I feel like I'm the only one who likes 2CP and Temple of Anubis as my favourite map...
Yeah, this is true, but it's much more difficult for players to work together like pros. That's why there pros.
This is good advice but I think the problem is more the inability of random teams of people to cooperate than it is a lack of understanding.
When I play this in quick play my team doesn't seem to understand that we have a respawn disadvantage. :(
Maybe there should be an option to choose which maps you want to play like CSGO. Who cares if anubis has a 10 minute wait time
I love overwatch, I binge played it for months and am prestige 1 lvl 80, but I just stopped playing it I've watched almost all of your videos and idk y but I just got tired of people that didn't know how to play the game, toxic people, and whenever I choked it made me mad. I want to play this game again and love it like I used to, what can I do to like it and see it differently?
Leyton Manley Just concentrate on what you could do better and try to not tilt, or go quickplay and just play casually.
i played this 2 cp temple of anubis game were my team won. the score was 7-6
Can you guys explain how Koreans do dive comp on defense and why it works
Well my thoughts it's still that personally if they remove this mode i won't be sad XD
It's interesting analising this, but here we see people knwoing what to do and everything, how many times in Solo team not even not Dive, Don't Group up at all! That's the main problem, how many games i manage to won just because 4-5 people in my team managed to group up we went in togehter and the enemies didn't know what to do, not even diving, just going in...
Honestly 2 cp is fun for me because I play with a six stack at low gold and the enemy team never attacks right on the second point
make an "how to contest" video plz
the fact people even in low diamond dont understand grouping is the only reason i dislike this mode
The number of times I have ran into a bastion and/or Torb on the 2nd point when there wasn't one on the first is far to many to count.
can you update the discord invite?
I'm still waiting for a character that could blind you on screen... flash bang
what if instead of a draw the game keeps going until one side wins (give both teams 1min, eventually one team will win. Of course, only when the game would result in a draw like both teams capping with no time left)
Am i the only one who likes 2Cp? :(
Xperia DivX nope ;)
Do a 300K special
I could never do this. I'm so bad at the game, though I do try my best so *eventually* I'll get better.
Solution: Rotate 2CP out of MM and leave it to the pros.
Solution 2: Open game mode selection for MM.
Just subbed
Oh another freedo guide *sigh I prefer the other two
Are you 12?
TheBlueStr1ker I actually like Freedo the best. Why do you not like Freedo?
It's not that I dislike Freedo (even tho I come off like I do) it's just that I prefer Weegal and Eddy over Freedo. I listen to enough people with American like accents at home and studying communications I find non American accents intriguing. I meant no disrespect
Am I the only that LOVES 2 CP ? I mean my favourite map is Hanumaura.
I used to be like you. Then I hit masters
Booob Zi ikr
Booob Zi love the maps, hate the game mode.
Visit a doctor, this can't be healthy.
McCripple the doctor would say get off the game becuz she's a 2 CP map hater 😕
