I NEED to clear up something that MANY people are mistaken about in the comments. NANO IS NOT AN INITIATION ULTIMATE, someone initiates THEN you nano, not the other way around, its a big mistake for loads of reasons, for example: 1) You waste seconds of the nano if they arent already initiating 2) it throws solo q team mates off completely 3) Its much easier for the enemy to run away from if not timed perfectly as there is no speed boost element to it. You CAN initiate with nano if communicated, that's the best way to do it but it takes the other player to do something first and nano at the right time, wasting nano by using it on someone not ready for it is a mistake made in so many games and its effectively throwing, its like a lot of ults that are completely useless mis timed, Lastly, saying that "my team did use ultimates" shows again that people are very confused when a good time to ult is. They used the ults WAY after they needed to initiate and lost the ult fight by miles and also wasted all the ults. If you dont ult first usually you have to just lose and use them next fight. Thats why people get rolled in solo queue all the time- Hope this helped! -W
Your Overwatch it may not be one now, but it definitely could be used as one before Nano boost got the speed nerf, it was much easier for big nano targets (like Rein) to close distance and break open a team fight (like on King's Row first point if the defending team is further away from the choke) I still see it in gold and silver (lol I suck it's why I watch these videos) and I think it's left over from that meta. So I agree! Nano boost without a speed buff doesn't last nearly long enough for a team to feasibly use it for initiation
C.A. Pendragon good point, at lower levels people tend to (in a sense) cower in fear and run at the sight of a lot of boosted heroes. I think that aspect matters less at higher levels of play where nano isn't that scary to a coordinated team. Good counterpoint
Nano encourages initiation dumbass if you would have ulted the hog or reinhardt or asked "who can i give nano to", you would have been able to initiate. Despite what you might think you aren't all knowing and theres different ways to play the game.
The idea of nano encourages initiation, but the ultimate itself doesn't, imo. It's one thing to tell the team "I have Nano for our next push" as opposed to just popping it on Rein with little to no warning and thinking "That's how you start a team fight."
Ultimate usage is one of the most important things in overwatch, in this pro guide we go through initiating ultimates on defense and how your team can win fights before they even start. Let us know what you think and be sure to drop a Like & Subscribe if you enjoyed!
Edge9404 What this dude said. If you find that your playing Ana and your team will not take advantage of the moment then force them buy using your Nano boost because who ever you hit with it will be force to do something with it. It's like when I play Tracer I never hold on to my Ult because as her I can get 3-4 of them before Rhine of Zarya can get one same with Ana I can get 3 before most others on my team. I think people may not understand the time it takes for characters to get their Ults.
Nah man, I see what you're getting at but you gotta think about the fact that there is no Lucio speed boost but the enemy does have a Lucio. So the Rein or Soldier will have to be very close to them before the Nano comes out, or they will all just run away.
I thought I was the only one that noticed this. If you are pushing your team to use their ults and initiate then use your own ult and initiate. What happens when your Ana mysteriously nanos you? You charge in as to not waste the nano. If he had nanoed Rein when the enemy attacked the first point then he would've gone in and the rest of the team would've followed. Happens nearly every time i nano anyone.
When you are anna you can force your team to initiate by nanoboosting someone on your team who has an alt. I'm trying to say you can be the shot caller on initiation when you have a nanoboost in your pocket. The nanoboosted target will almost definitely charge into the enemy team, and they will be more inclined to use their alt as well.
This video was actually super helpful and opened my eyes to a new type of play. I always thought the defending team ulting first was a cocky spawn camp but the reasoning behind it makes a lot of sense.
Yup, I notice this too, I make that mistake too sometimes, holding ults for too long, being too afraid to engage while defending. :s This is good intel.
I think knowing when to ult for Mei is pretty easy. When you see a hoard of enimes comming on the objective and you have ult, use it and your team will kill as many as possible.
Oh yeah, its common knowledge to run and group up with your team if 3 or more has died (depending on who they were). I ussally ult when my team is on point with me cuz mei takes a while to kill things.
what I love most about this channel is you guys make interesting and different videos that really help the community, though I may not agree with everything this channel has said you always support what you say with reasoning and logic, congrats on the achievement and I expect this channel to grow even more
Honestly, YOW is probably my favourite Overwatch information RUclips channel, because you provide videos that not only go over things like patch notes and Ptr changes, but explanations on how the pros do things, etc. Many channels only do things that every other channel does, but you guys stand out to me. Keep it up Freedo, Eddy, and Weagull.
It's "AFK" because that's just what it looks like. Effectively, you want to only ever fight when you are even or have man advantage. If someone on your team is dead, they need to be coming into the next fight with the rest of your team.
As a master's ana main myself sometimes you have to initiate with your ultimate. If you give your ultimate to a rein or who ever it works best on it will often cause them to follow through with their own.
Really like this and would love more highly detailed discussion breaking down games in this regard or talking about how certain heroes can maybe initiate this kind of action on defense in solo-queue when team communication isn't what it should be (as in, the on-your-own kinda scenario).
Ian Leui Control is like the best? If your team are getting thrashed round 1 and 2 you can take it back and win. This happens all of the time but when someone locks in as Zarya and you're playing Pharah, going into a dangerous spot to ultimate and Zarya doesn't use her ultimate until 99% overtime. Fell down from diamond and I'm getting so triggered about no one using their ultimates.
Agreed. Ideally Nano follows another timely ultimate so that it can be used to maximum benefit. But if nobody's taking the initiative, sometimes taking the initiative yourself, even if it's not in an ideal way, is the better option. When a team of over-cautious players, all holding onto their ultimates _'just in case'_, see somebody get Nano-boosted, and a push-back is initiated, they often rally and throw an ultimate or two into the bag. The sequence of ultimates may not be optimal, but it's clearly better than never using them.
Nano is basically a combo ult that is supposed to be used after another (ex. Genji) If you looked at the comp was Mccree, Rein, Hog, Zarya. Rein and Zarya ults are initiating ults so they are best used first Giving them first nano wouldn't make sense because Rein needs to shield and if he doesn't his team dies he gets CC'd by sleep and in this case Whole Hog. Nano Zarya doesn't exactly help her ult better and is better used with a damage ult not CC ult. Mccree has to get into position and call for the Nano before he ults. That leaves hog which would be ok but I think is better with Zarya's ult or in tighter area. Although I do agree maybe the hog might have ult after Nano but not the best when the other hog is ulting you too.
It's interesting the progression you see going from bad-bad, to medium-bad (where I'm currently at, but slowly improving and researching), and seeing higher quality play. At low-end play defense is much easier because players can set up a Bastion, Torbjorn, Reinhardt combo at a chokepoint and nobody on attack knows how to counter it. As players get more counter-savvy and ult-wise, the situation becomes reversed: those on attack know (mostly) who to pick and when/how to ult whereas those on defense understand the value of good ult timing and play it a little too safe.
First off thank you very much for the awesome content you guys create, I find it very interesting and helpful to watch your videos. Furthermore I would like to tell you that I completely understand the point of this video and I will without a doubt will try to implement this into my games, however I did not find your game play to be an accurate representation of your point. The reason for that being is that you guys were in a worse/ more different situation than the pros. Apart from the fact that you are in matchmaking and don't have a fully coordinated team you did really well since you backed off when symmetra was respawning (on the first point) and the next fight was going to be a 5v6 with YOU playing as the single healer. Your tanks tried to stall it out as long as possible but got ulted while YOU were trying to go around and get a juicy nade(again your are the only healer should be playing a bit more passively) at which point you self healed(didn't hit anyone in the enemies zen ult except the genji who you killed[ good job :p ]) and didn't ult anyone who was getting hit by the hog ult. Which could be due to nerves and the tension of the moment. But what surprised me most was that after 2 of your tanks died to the hog ult you proceeded to walk out of the room alone knowing that the whole enemy team is there(and hog having hook since he just ulted) and dying. Instead of hanging out with the Zarya and waiting for the team to get through telly to stall out(during all of that I did not see your voice chat indicator pop up). During the second encounter your Reinhardt got picked and once again you backed off and regrouped with him as you should, only this time the video got cut off the exact moment you said something(possibly the point at which you told them to start ulting?). Along with the last part of the match where you again much like the first point didn't seem to say anything, and didn't ult anyone(like your hog that got a hook). In contrast to that match I would like to point out that I may be wrong about you not communicating well, which isn't anyone's fault since sometimes when you press push to talk to icon doesn't show up right a way and without any in game audio I can't say for sure that was the problem). However I would like you to take notice that you as an Ana, especially a solo healer didn't take the initiative to ult a teammate and give them the 50% incoming and outgoing damage. Which has the equivalent of saying "You got this and I got your back", and from the given recording it seemed as though it was your fault. Then again this is coming from a player who usually never blames his team for a loss since there is always something better you could have done regardless of your teammates performance or the outcome of a game. What I am trying to say by this is that recently I started realizing that your competitive matches are full of tilt or frustration. Which usually gets kept to yourselves until the match ends and you can vent, which is a much better thing to do than to flame your team mates but still not the healthiest way to play OW. In conclusion take this criticism/ comment as a grain of salt since this is just my personal opinion and has no real affect since I am just a lowly peasant who doesn't make any OW content myself and am just trying to improve in my games. Also I would like to apologize if I may have sounded harsh, this is probably since this is just text and I cannot convey my tone along with me having spent too much time already analyzing this video. Oh, and btw this is probably going to come off as cocky or something like that but I just wanted to let you know that I am a solo q grandmaster/ master player who occasionally plays games with some friends).
thank you for the video. I've been 6 stacked recently and we constantly wipe them with grav barrage but we never did as well on defence. I think this is the secret I've been looking for.
Use it if a lot of teammates (or one important teammate) is going to die. If you have an ulting Zen or something when you're caught in Graviton, save your ult for later. Also, quick tip: if your team isn't super-low on health when you ult, switch to speed-boost so you get the advantage of the increased health AND speed to chase down enemies too.
Banzai Boy Somtimes I use it to initiate against an enemy teams. Quite often while defending everyone is just milling around on the point and I can see us failing to defend so I ult. It doesn't always get value from the shield but it does make your team go on the attack, speed boost as well for maximum impact.
Banzai Boy Hey, fellow Lucio mian here. If you hear a second damage ult coming like Pharah or Dragon or Self-Destruct, then it's probably best to save it and instead keep it for re-initiation on the next fight. If they just grav with no ultimate follow-up, then drop the beat for sure. If unsure, just use it cause most of the time that is the right choice.
Use lucio's ult as a tool for initiations for team fights if you want to use it offensively. Such as activating it at the choke and speed boosting through it so you can break out the fight beyond the choke and, ultimately, have the health advantage. Another way to use it is defensively, such as if you hear an offensive ult go off (like Soldier's) you can save your team from being wiped. Another way to use it is just in the middle of a fight that seems like you're losing, and if you have a full team still with you, you can pop it to secure the win. Sometimes it's better to do that than to save it for another fight because sometimes your next chance might not be as good (for example, running out of time or enemy might have their ults)
TheSuedeUzi Yeah, I always use it with speed boost to get past a chokepoint quickly, it's just that on defence in particular it's sometimes hard to see in the moment if you are really about to get overwhelmed and if it warrants an ult.
I don't remember who posted it, but I watched one video that said keep some ults pocketed when defending for that last push by the enemy team and basically only ult as a counter such as Graviton v Graviton or Transcendence v Dragons which makes since if you run down the clock and then ult the enemy team when there is under a min left they don't have time to group and push, but this makes alot of since too.
Your Overwatch, you may have done this before, but if you haven't could you please do a guide on when and how to initiate. I think I have an idea on how to initiate, but I'm not certain, and I'm almost clueless on WHEN to initiate. If you have done this before, could you (or anybody) please point me to the correct video to watch? Thanks for the great channel, I've been enjoying it for the past few months and hope to continue :)
the controls are different and also the rotating is slower and more steady so that in turn makes some heroes more powerful then others compared to pc, it may be the same game but its not played the exact same due to different devices.
Well videos like these cover all platforms because they're fundamental to the game. The guides and other pro breakdowns apply to console. It seems like you're saying that it doesn't.
Could you guys do a video on tips for duo queueing? Give tips on how to read your partner's play style, and how to find what heroes work best together. Also if there are any good methods of practicing with another player (other than simply playing the game of course.) that would be very helpful.
This is such an obvious thing to point out, but I'm surprised to see how many people don't know that you also have to push back the enemy team when you're on defense. Thanks for the guide, I will definitely start paying more attention to prevent this from happening in my own matches.
Your Overwatch I know, I was just pointing out the humorous irony of saying no one was popping ults. They WERE, it was just far too late in the engagement.
This is like the main problem in like all of my games. No one ever wants to initiate or be aggressive and the few that do this rarely have teammates that follow up. This is why Torb and Sym combo wins so many games on 2cp and hybrid
I actually preferred this to freedo's commentary, it felt more clear and slowing down the video helps so much! I find freedo's mannerisms just hard to follow in general.
Liked this video a lot. I noticed that even in grandmaster games people dont grasp the concept of having to be on the front foot. Intitiating is SO important... On another note, the game in which you were Ana, In my opinion you should have used your ult badly instead of not at all. This Reinhardt on streets fase for example didnt know or was afraid to go in. If you nano'd him there, even though its a bad play, it might make him realise that a fight needs to occur from your side. Ulting badly is better than not ulting at all.
I totally agree, how many Zaryas i saw Wasting ults not getting nobody because it's too late or getting 4 people but it's useless because the others to combo with are dead....
weagal you are my fav commentator :D That probably coz i have followed you from mw3 :D I also learned about eddy from wetheop. But good job with this channel and keep it up
So you can't nano first and kind of force the initialisation? If they aren't going to use anything of their own volition, wouldn't that make more sense.

thank you for the video, the only thing I can see is you were a little confusing at times and I understood what you were trying to say but I don't know if others will understand
Even if the ideal scenario is for someone else to take the initiative, ult first, then you nano boost them (or depending on the hero, use another supportive ult that should follow an initial 'setting-up' ult), wouldn't it still be better to just boost someone anyway after they fail to ult at the right time? In terms of value gained vs lost, you gain nothing by keeping an ult for the whole game until you lose, but at least using it on someone could give them the push they need to ult themselves and defend more aggressively. Obviously it would be better if there was actual coordination but if you have two non-ideal options you might as well go for the one that might get you somewhere.
grav, earth shadder, drop the beat are fight starters agreeed but genji dragonblade is best used when everyone is already targetting someone else (in the heat of a battle ). or am i wrong?
@Your Overwatch, should we use DEFENSIVE ultimates (sound barrier, trans etc) on defense in order to initiate on the enemy team, or should we save them for when the enemy team ults us? Because I was playing KOTH on Nepal the other day and there was this Lucio that kept spending his Sound Barriers when we already had the point and were just playing footsies with the enemy team, and then a few minutes afterwards they would ult us and kill us and we had no Barrier to defend ourselves. I blamed the loss on that Lucio that day, because everyone else was playing decently. Wasting Sound Barrier like that simply doesn't make sense to me.
In my experience, as an Ana main, you can force your team to initiate by boosting say a Soldier: 76 or Roadhog, for instance. It comes up several times in the video how he doesn't ult as Ana because no one else initiates, but I've found it quite useful to initiate myself. My boost generally makes my team realise that "oh shit, time to ult" and at least a few of them tend to follow up my boost by popping their own ults. Any thoughts on this?

I agree, it isn't an initiation ultimate. My point is that in solo queue, when in a situation as described in the video above, it can be useful to boost someone to force a team fight instead of having your team cowardly step back time and time again. You surely can't argue that having the nanoboost stored without using it for an entire game (as in the video) is a better use of it than putting it on someone to force them to fight? Again, I'm not saying it's ideal, but it's a way of getting through solo queue.
The mistake Weagle made was relying on communication over actions in matchmaking. I play a lot of Ana, and if I want someone on my team to initiate with their ult on defence, I don't wait for them to use it before giving them nano, I just give it to them. It almost always forces them into initiating and using their ult. So if you're playing Ana don't hold your nano because no one is using their ult, just use it!
I am personally really good at using sound barrier defensively, but I always have trouble using it offensively. I am not sure how or when it is useful and actually effective when I push with my team. Should I just hold it till my team is fighting or just as we move in?
Quick question, is it worth grouping up when your team has no ultimates to team wipe with? Or is it better to get ult, get team wiped, and then group up?
ThatMayBeTheCase you wouldn't be wrong per say, as grav and are one of the best ults in the game, but a lot can stem from rank, but a Lucio speed boost genji with dragon blade is also really good, more deadly if the genji nanoned
Quick question. I've started to become a mei main on console. I'm mid diamond rank and I'm always scared to throw away my ult like on second point volskaya. Should I save it for the stall or use it for saving lives and initiate like that earth shatter at the beginning? Thanks if you answer and love your content
I have a question Sometimes when I play games, the rest of my team will pick Offense or Defense characters, leaving me to either have to pick a Tank or a Healer. In which cases would it be better to have a Tank and in which would it be better to have a Healer? I have tried communicating with my team saying that we need someone to switch to a Tank so that we can take cover behind some sort of barrier or a healer so that we don't have to disengage from a fight just to go health pack hunting, but they don't listen and choose to stay as their Junkrat or Genji. Any help is appreciated :3
This is why I think nano blade is extremely strong in matchmaking on attk and defense because once Genji and Ana ult the whole team follows in HOPEFULLY.
The problem i have with ulting on defense is, lets say both teams have 6 ultimates up, all the same kind, doesnt matter. If the defending team ults first and team wipes them, the attacking team can just do the same after respawn and continue pushing the payload or capture the 2nd point, thus leading to a 'lose' in terms of distance etc. So how dos ulting on defense first actually helps unless u are trying to counter thier ults which reqiures coordination that most games dont have..
I understand that you wanted your teammates to initiate but sometimes the best way to initiate in matchmaking is to nano someone, although its wasted a bit at least people start going in.

i wish that after a pro game you can watch different pro perspectives. This will help explain how the pros play and how they get the most out of their heroes.
I love all these breakdowns but the real question is where do they find all these super high quality pictures of the characters they use in the thumbnails?!

But if you used nano then someone else would have paired with it and it would have given them the initiative to use their ults and try to win a teamfight. You held onto nano until the very end, which is worse than using it a little too early in a teamfight that you had a chance of winning. Allowing your team to get steamrolled without even attempting to turn it around is just as bad imo. You were solo queuing so not everything needs to be pro level timing. Or is my logic flawed?
i find if you're playing ana and your team won't initiate you'll have to do it. sleep someone and boost your rein or soldier or hog. if your team won't make the first move force their hand
D.Va or Junkrat, and tracer ult will 1-shot I believe, but if you have an Ana just toss an Ana grenade on them, for good measure and get a staggered kill on zen
Get 1 or 2 competent player you can communicate and synergise with, group up and use ultimates together. Go into team chat or invite everyone to your party. Communicate with your team, most important factor. Last of all. Git guud
I would like to know why the other teams always seem like perfect strategists while our team plays like low bronze. Still stuck at Platinum because Solo Que feels like insta-loose

I disagree with your explanation of not using nano. if your team isn't initiating nano is exactly what they need. no rein or road will stay back when they have nano, rein will want to slam people in the face and roadie will ult and possibly your arya throws her grav in there too to get play and kills. ana is a very capable solo initiator because of nanoboost imo

Your Overwatch okay but I REALLY want to make something CLEAR! what I MEANT is that if your team is too retarded to initiate anyway, nano will make them initiate and even if half of it is wasted, your team might follow up leading to your first initiation all game long! wow! and that nano is misused is no argument in this extreme case like shown in the video because I doubt that holding on to it for all game is better. you (or the player in this video) could have had 3 nanos leading to 3 initiation. compare that to 1 nano never used and 0 initiations and you'll get what I mean! hope this helped to explain my thoughts :)
i like the video, and all the content you guys give. However, sometimes the talking gets a little ramble-y and hard to follow clearly. slow it down a touch and give more simpler set up explanations for your example clips? i think an easy recap/summary at the end of the video would help, me at least, to put together all that i just (tried to) follow. Hope that's constructive. keep up the good work.
i recently had a similar experience where my rein didnt contest (on defense) on kings row as the payload waas pushing he backed up and just watched them push the payload, i told the several times contest contest and they didnt i had to (was playing soldier) jump into them to contest point 2 on kings row and i died. but at leasy my team started fighting. we lost that, and we were clearly more skilled than these guys.
I'm sorry, but waiting for your team to initiate is a shit excuse for not using nanoboost, especially if you've had it from start to finish. Support is not a completely passive role, you can almost always guarantee that whoever receives the boost will run in and try to make the most of it, potentially using their ult as well. There's a reason a lot of people recommend support characters are the shot-callers.

They used the ults WAY after they needed to initiate and lost the ult fight by miles and also wasted all the ults. If you dont ult first usually you have to just lose and use them next fight. Thats why people get rolled in solo queue all the time- Hope this helped! -W
This is fair, but it's not what you said in the video. You stated that you had nano from beginning to end, not that nobody was communicating and that it would have been wasted. I wholly agree that nano can't initiate without communication, but nano CAN be an initiator. To say it isn't is not the entire truth -- not using it at all seems like a bad decision. By ulting one of your teammates, you would have forced an initiation, minus a couple of seconds. Valuable seconds? Debatable. Using your ult is better than sitting on it the entire game and waiting for them to initiate, seeing as you'd obviously build it back up so quickly (from the clip, it was gained quite fast, and would be built back up just as fast... I never see a resurrect as "wasted" for this very reason when I'm doing a lot of healing for my team). I quite possibly am wrong, but from this video, in the game you've shown, I do agree that an Ana boost was not an initiator. At all. It just wouldn't have helped. But to unequivocally say that it is never an initiator in any sense, in any play condition, is wrong. I have never seen someone not try and take advantage of being nano-boosted, and that includes the times where I've gotten in the way as Mercy, had to pull out my blaster, and go in full tilt as Battle Mercy (and sometimes even won that fight). Honestly, it just feels like holding onto and not using an ult at all is worse for your team than trying to pick the best possible moment to use it, and applying it as you see fit. Ults recharge, especially if you get them early (and don't try and hold onto them all game).
weird, how those people who played with you climbed to a master rank ... dat zarya ult when all team-mates were dead such a waste, same with other people ulting.
If you think about it, in support of your point, you use more offense heroes on both side than defense heroes, so you are capable of doing what the attackers are doing. So why not fucking destroy them?

Your Overwatch it may not be one now, but it definitely could be used as one before Nano boost got the speed nerf, it was much easier for big nano targets (like Rein) to close distance and break open a team fight (like on King's Row first point if the defending team is further away from the choke) I still see it in gold and silver (lol I suck it's why I watch these videos) and I think it's left over from that meta. So I agree! Nano boost without a speed buff doesn't last nearly long enough for a team to feasibly use it for initiation
Your Overwatch But nanoboost has also a psycholocical value. your enemies wont stay at the payload or point if there's a boosted road or soldier
It's good you mention that cause I find people always want to hang back and never push, only doing trash damage.
If you want to initiate, use your damn Nano. Don't wait for the Soldier/Rein to ult first, if you Nano them, they will take the initiative.
This is good intel.
Hey, it wont be long till you're at 1 mil subs guys. Keep up the great vids, and congrats to all of you for hitting 300k.
I think knowing when to ult for Mei is pretty easy. When you see a hoard of enimes comming on the objective and you have ult, use it and your team will kill as many as possible.
Ty Langs But don't use it when your entire team is dead just to delay then for 10 seconds and then ask why nobody is capitalising on it.
Oh yeah, its common knowledge to run and group up with your team if 3 or more has died (depending on who they were). I ussally ult when my team is on point with me cuz mei takes a while to kill things.
mei = drop ult on point for area denial and mass confusion if not multiple freezes.
what I love most about this channel is you guys make interesting and different videos that really help the community, though I may not agree with everything this channel has said you always support what you say with reasoning and logic, congrats on the achievement and I expect this channel to grow even more
Honestly, YOW is probably my favourite Overwatch information RUclips channel, because you provide videos that not only go over things like patch notes and Ptr changes, but explanations on how the pros do things, etc. Many channels only do things that every other channel does, but you guys stand out to me. Keep it up Freedo, Eddy, and Weagull.

I'm confused. Why do the pros AFK? You never really explain that. Surely you're not AFK'ing just because you're seeing the pros doing it...right?
To regroup, no poking at all -w
It's "AFK" because that's just what it looks like. Effectively, you want to only ever fight when you are even or have man advantage. If someone on your team is dead, they need to be coming into the next fight with the rest of your team.
becaus the can regroup then sorry for my english
well its because he wants to regroup with his team
they wait for their team to respawn, that's why....
As a master's ana main myself sometimes you have to initiate with your ultimate. If you give your ultimate to a rein or who ever it works best on it will often cause them to follow through with their own.
Very informative, this will drastically change my view on team fights and ultimate preservation. Great video.
Thanks for making this video! I asked this question a couple of weeks ago and I appreciate getting a guide as a response.
Really like this and would love more highly detailed discussion breaking down games in this regard or talking about how certain heroes can maybe initiate this kind of action on defense in solo-queue when team communication isn't what it should be (as in, the on-your-own kinda scenario).
I really wish more people would watch your videos and take them to heart. Dropping 400 SR breaks my heart when I know exactly what's going wrong.
im early lemme make a joke

Akash Ganguly Brilliant! Just brilliant!!!
CrazeBlaze Animations OMG IS THIS THE REAL CRAZEBLAZE
i like u
Akash Ganguly I think control is worse
Ian Leui Control is like the best? If your team are getting thrashed round 1 and 2 you can take it back and win.
This happens all of the time but when someone locks in as Zarya and you're playing Pharah, going into a dangerous spot to ultimate and Zarya doesn't use her ultimate until 99% overtime.
Fell down from diamond and I'm getting so triggered about no one using their ultimates.
maybe if you would have nanoed someone they would finally ult.
WeAreSoPredictable exactly
point^
Nano is basically a combo ult that is supposed to be used after another (ex. Genji)
If you looked at the comp was Mccree, Rein, Hog, Zarya.
Rein and Zarya ults are initiating ults so they are best used first
Giving them first nano wouldn't make sense because Rein needs to shield and if he doesn't his team dies he gets CC'd by sleep and in this case Whole Hog.
I'm pretty sure in one of their vids they said nano was a great initiator... I was thinking the same thing.
I think this is the secret I've been looking for.
can't believe your still at 300k subs u deserve more
I'm a Lucio main and I've always wondered when to use Drop the Beat. In a large team fight? Should I use it if our team is caught in a Zarya bubble?
I love how it just so happens your always doing the right thing
Thanks for the great channel, I've been enjoying it for the past few months and hope to continue :)
loving the content you have helped me get to diamond but would like more console tips
its the same game
Cameron Wilson it's really not everything changes like who is strong and positioning can vary also
the controls are different and also the rotating is slower and more steady so that in turn makes some heroes more powerful then others compared to pc, it may be the same game but its not played the exact same due to different devices.
Well videos like these cover all platforms because they're fundamental to the game. The guides and other pro breakdowns apply to console.
It seems like you're saying that it doesn't.
prebuilt toe its the same thing on pc and console, people just cant turn and aim as fast on console
"No one ults. No one ults." He says. His clip shows his Reinhardt ulting and also his Roadhog.
You completely missed the point of the video my friend, they ult too late and waste everything and still lose the fight -w
Your Overwatch I know, I was just pointing out the humorous irony of saying no one was popping ults. They WERE, it was just far too late in the engagement.
yea nice irony
This is like the main problem in like all of my games. No one ever wants to initiate or be aggressive and the few that do this rarely have teammates that follow up. This is why Torb and Sym combo wins so many games on 2cp and hybrid
I commented and said you should use your own gameplay for these guides and now you have thanks
Love your guides guys! Keep it up!
I totally agree, how many Zaryas i saw Wasting ults not getting nobody because it's too late or getting 4 people but it's useless because the others to combo with are dead....
Ultimate video out there for this subject
very punny
weagal you are my fav commentator :D That probably coz i have followed you from mw3 :D I also learned about eddy from wetheop. But good job with this channel and keep it up
So you can't nano first and kind of force the initialisation? If they aren't going to use anything of their own volition, wouldn't that make more sense.
I NEED to clear up something that MANY people are mistaken about in the comments. NANO IS NOT AN INITIATION ULTIMATE, someone initiates THEN you nano, not the other way around, its a big mistake for loads of reasons, for example:
1) You waste seconds of the nano if they arent already initiating

Exactly my point. There's no point in just having it sit there the whole time because the "optimal" moment didn't arrive.
great video guys, great footage
Someone explain.
When I play hog my hook range is like 10m but when I'm play vs a Hog his hook range is 10km...
Why?
git gud
thank you for the video, the only thing I can see is you were a little confusing at times and I understood what you were trying to say but I don't know if others will understand
Hey, can you do a video about counters ? What should i pick vs a very good Roadhog or Soldier 76?
2:38 you could have nano boosted roadhog. It wouldnt be perfect but at least you would gave used your ult once
At 2:35 you say that your team mates don't Ult, but you can see clearly that at least Roadhog, and Rein Ulted. You also didn't use your ult.
bmwjoey25 they were absolutely terrible ults though
bmwjoey25 they ulyed much too late so it didn't matter
I've wondered why me and my team can never win on defense! I'll try this out. Thanks!
Great video, thanks!

Or is it better to get ult, get team wiped, and then group up?
techtonio always group up first
Hiya Liam love ya keep up the good work
Am i wrong in saying that genji needs a Zarya or Ana to get most value out of dragonblade? and perhaps another pick is better without one of them?
ThatMayBeTheCase you wouldn't be wrong per say, as grav and are one of the best ults in the game, but a lot can stem from rank, but a Lucio speed boost genji with dragon blade is also really good, more deadly if the genji nanoned
just making sure not get hit by enemy ana sleep dart which its got waste (if you get hit):/ so Lucio speed boost would be best or even Zarya
Quick question. I've started to become a mei main on console. I'm mid diamond rank and I'm always scared to throw away my ult like on second point volskaya. Should I save it for the stall or use it for saving lives and initiate like that earth shatter at the beginning? Thanks if you answer and love your content
I have a question
Sometimes when I play games, the rest of my team will pick Offense or Defense characters, leaving me to either have to pick a Tank or a Healer.
Jonathan Martin I would always be a healer over a tank
what if they added a lucio-esk type of healing when you control a king of the hill point? maybe half of what lucios non amped heal is over time??
2:47 Que the panic Graviton Surge!
what if I am genji with my ult and there is a zen on the other team would it be worth it to trade or do I try to make him pop it ??
this helps. thank you!
This is why I think nano blade is extremely strong in matchmaking on attk and defense because once Genji and Ana ult the whole team follows in HOPEFULLY.
Never sure when to use roadhog ult. If we are close quarters or near a ledge I'll use it but on some maps I hold it for too long
The problem i have with ulting on defense is, lets say both teams have 6 ultimates up, all the same kind, doesnt matter.
I understand that you wanted your teammates to initiate but sometimes the best way to initiate in matchmaking is to nano someone, although its wasted a bit at least people start going in.
yep better than just sitting there for doing nothing while nano

You CAN initiate with nano if communicated, that's the best way to do it but it takes the other player to do something first and nano at the right time, wasting nano by using it on someone not ready for it is a mistake made in so many games and its effectively throwing, its like a lot of ults that are completely useless mis timed,
Lastly, saying that "my team did use ultimates" shows again that people are very confused when a good time to ult is. They used the ults WAY after they needed to initiate and lost the ult fight by miles and also wasted all the ults. If you dont ult first usually you have to just lose and use them next fight. Thats why people get rolled in solo queue all the time- Hope this helped! -W
please I need your help iv been trying to find out my mouse DPI for like a week and having found enything... how do i find my mouse dpi?
i wish that after a pro game you can watch different pro perspectives. This will help explain how the pros play and how they get the most out of their heroes.
I love all these breakdowns but the real question is where do they find all these super high quality pictures of the characters they use in the thumbnails?!
aestheticgrips the cinematics?
Jaron Sims I wonder who has the arduous job of cutting them out and making the transparent lmao
Had you used nano boost it might've given your team initiative to use their ults in order to not waste it?
I NEED to clear up something that MANY people are mistaken about in the comments. NANO IS NOT AN INITIATION ULTIMATE, someone initiates THEN you nano, not the other way around, its a big mistake for loads of reasons, for example:
1) You waste seconds of the nano if they arent already initiating
2) it throws solo q team mates off completely
3) Its much easier for the enemy to run away from if not timed perfectly as there is no speed boost element to it.

Can you do video about how some heroes are not placed in the wrong role? E.g Hog on Tank not DPS. Mei on Def not Tank ( in my opinion )
Tristan Tirtoredjo hog can still tank though, can't main tank, but he can tank.
Thank you for putting "pros" in capitals, I'm sure I wouldn't have clicked on this video otherwise.
x
KrypTic x I wouldn't of.
Great video
Damn is Feb 7 the first day they haven't uploaded other than Christmas?
I find people never want to charge in. They always want to hang back poking them doing trash damage.

Congrats on getting 300,000k Also thanks for all the useful tips you give us
i find if you're playing ana and your team won't initiate you'll have to do it. sleep someone and boost your rein or soldier or hog. if your team won't make the first move force their hand
what's the best Zaria combo
anthony kittles Genji, Tracer, or Hanzo ult are very good combos with Zarya ult
Which ones the best to use when they have a Zen alt though?
D.Va or Junkrat, and tracer ult will 1-shot I believe, but if you have an Ana just toss an Ana grenade on them, for good measure and get a staggered kill on zen
Aye thankzt
Thanks*
tips for console to get diamond/master? thanks in advance.
Get 1 or 2 competent player you can communicate and synergise with, group up and use ultimates together. Go into team chat or invite everyone to your party. Communicate with your team, most important factor. Last of all. Git guud
If only more people watched this channel
I would like to know why the other teams always seem like perfect strategists while our team plays like low bronze. Still stuck at Platinum because Solo Que feels like insta-loose
what happend to your video pixel count?
I like how the only difference between the teams is genji and roadhog, literally the whole entire loadout is the same.
ult timing is quite difficult for me
what I accually don't understand is why people use there Hammer down if the graviton surge is still active
So in other words...don't sit on your ult all day; if you see a good shot and your team's there, hit it.
Basically?
if you knew everyone had ult you should've just ulted the hog and kept him healed up, the ana ult can be the initiation

Your Overwatch okay but I REALLY want to make something CLEAR! what I MEANT is that if your team is too retarded to initiate anyway, nano will make them initiate and even if half of it is wasted, your team might follow up leading to your first initiation all game long! wow! and that nano is misused is no argument in this extreme case like shown in the video because I doubt that holding on to it for all game is better. you (or the player in this video) could have had 3 nanos leading to 3 initiation. compare that to 1 nano never used and 0 initiations and you'll get what I mean! hope this helped to explain my thoughts :)
how are u be aggressive when u a mercy main in plat. i xant ult wipe the entire enemy team but no one has mics.
Does weagal realize that you can initiate on a nano-boost?
You dont nano and then initiate, you initiate and then you nano. Big mistake todo it the wrong way round -w
ok, thanks for the info.
Why is eddy never making vids? Is he sick or something?
i like the video, and all the content you guys give.

Lol love your vids.
tip: the answer is in the thumbnail too
They press the ults button 😃
weird, how those people who played with you climbed to a master rank ... dat zarya ult when all team-mates were dead such a waste, same with other people ulting.
this was usefull, but it will be hard to pull out in soloq, once every teammate doesnt give a fuck about what other teammates say
Take care and peas people!
If you think about it, in support of your point, you use more offense heroes on both side than defense heroes, so you are capable of doing what the attackers are doing. So why not fucking destroy them?
