Px4 is amazing! If it’s good enough for Ernest Langdon, it’s good enough for me! 50,000 rounds through one in a year and the only parts breakage was a cam block at like 44,000 rounds….thats just incredible!
Beretta makes great guns, theyre often different than the “me too” companies, they arent glock

Single stacks are still relevant, the thin profile has it's advantages. But there are better priced options. Besides the price, I would say it is still relevant.

Yes, single stacks are relevant. I carry the Walther PPS every day. I bought a Hellcat, but I just can't come to comfort with it IWB. The PPS feels like my favorite jeans, and I just can't give it up.
Have a couple Kahr CW9's that I keep going back to. Just comfortable with them.

The PX4 Storm is amazing imo. I have been basically begging for a Gen 2 for several years anytime I get a RUclips'er video mentioning them. LTT makes some sweet upgrades, but I would love an update/refresh. It could be trimmed down some as the frame is a little wide, especially to more modern options. Also the frame could use a modern update, primarily with texturing. A plate option and better sights from the factor would be appreciated. This may be the most underrated pew tool of all time. Come on Beretta...reallocate some of the 92 legacy $$ to show some PX4 love.
I agree. I think its crazy they havent done anything to the frame texture and even Langdon is still putting talon grips on it

Exactly! I have a $278.00 Diamondback DB9 single stack that will SMOKE this Kimber (literally melt the Kimber down and make it into a bullet, and this DB9 will shoot it). Oh---it's not a lot of fun at the range because it kicks like a mule; but it fires EVERYTHING (9x19) that you put in it, and at a 3rd. of the price. My opinion: Kimber is over priced compared to everything else in it's category on the market. Single stacks are still relevant, but this Kimber is not.
Great series, Dan, love the content. And, FWIW, I appreciate that you haven't run amok with production gloss, special effects, music, AND that you can be informative and interesting WITHOUT foul language. Some of us DO REALLY appreciate that.
I the love look and feel of Kimber, but they are too pricey. At the end of the day, you want to point 'em, and have 'em go BANG. My EC9s (EDC) is the same size, even thinner, carries more rounds (especially with the 12 rounds extended mag), and is reliable as all hell. I drool over guns, sure, but I'm cheap. I can buy three Rugers for the price of most Kimbers.
They're still relevant, but like you said in the video, most people did not like the price. That' pretty much my take on all Kimbers.

I agree on the lack of profanity and not over-producing videos. I said something like that in a comment a couple years ago, asking for less profanity, to Hop of The Firearm Blog, as I like to watch gun videos and educate my young kids at the same time. He insulted me up and down and around saying what a bad father I was and more. I could care less what he does or does not think of me. My point is that he was a complete a-hole all because I made a respectful comment that goes against his odd desire for to swear constantly.
So yes, I appreciate that you keep things clean and honest, Dan, and you don't produce videos for what used to be called MTV mentality (which should now be called RUclips Shorts or TikTok mentality, as it's gotten even worse with shorter attention spans).
@@radomguy9678 I like Hop, but his whole sarcastic, deadpan spew of "I'm right and anyone who disagrees is an idiot" gets kind of old. Especially the "Hop is for the poor people" buuut he has a $5000 night vision setup 🤔
I actually like his buddy more, more down to Earth and less judgemental.

Beretta PX4 is a great gun, I owned one back in 2006, for a few years. I was new to pistols and didn't know much. I wish I kept it, I like the compact carry model. However, I think it's too high in price and they don't do factory optic cut and don't get me started on how it needs more grip texture. I like it but it's expensive for what it is.

I've been wanting one of these since they came out! In my opinion, single stack pistols are totally still relevant! Different firearms have different capacities. It's always been that way, though the micro double stacks definitely raised the bar!

👍👍Both my carry semi autos are single stack so that doesn’t bother me at all. A lot of people carry a 5 shot revolver ( myself included at times)so carrying a single stack semi is not a big deal for me. Kimbers are kinda expensive though so I think You could find a better deal in a single stack. Thanks for the video Dan.

Relevant. Expensive but relevant. I’ll stick with my Kahr pm9 covert. I find myself carrying it 98 percent of the time. I cary my LCP max the other 2 percent. I realize we are in the midst of a micro compact, how many rounds can we cram in a tiny pistol craze. I think it’s like going grocery shopping when you’re hungry. You buy way more than you really need. I don’t feel under gunned with either of my choices, and because they are both small and lightweight, I never leave home without one of them.

Great video and love to read the comments, it gives a view of shooters today.. Gun options change every 5 years , now light striker fire, double stack with rails and optics are the going trend.. that EVO would be great for me because it’s a Kimber, then the dislike I have is its a striker fire, I like hammer pistols and would only get this for the name… that PX4 on the other hand is WONDERFUL!!! Great video
Nice looking pistol. Not sure I would go for a single stack at 600. So many options at half that price. Looks slim though, probably very easy to carry. Like the video series. I still love my PX4, maybe it's the Italian side of me that thinks it is a cool looking pistol. And the dork side of me thinks it kinda looks like the Bladerunner blaster😀

The EVO is another niche gun, relevant to a small group of folks. I picked up my EVO SP in 2019 and reviewed it in August 2019. It's accurate and reliable with a very nice trigger. But because it's 98% cocked with a relatively light trigger - and no safety - I won't carry it.
I switched to the Langdon trigger bar and this is now my new favorite pistol

I think there is some relevance for single stack 9mm pistols. Not for me personally, but for people like my wife who considers anything more then 7 rounds in a pistol more then necessary as the vast majority of self defense situations involve three shots or less. Plus, there is a slight thickness difference and weight savings in a single stack gun. The slimmer, lighter frame is less bulky and heavy on the body or in a purse, according to my wife.

Still relevant. Dont have a Kimber Evo SP but I do have a single stack Ruger LC9s.......still carry it sometimes.

When this came out, I was enchanted! And what an awesome little gun. But with the P365 and all the similar, small double stack pistols, not so relevant anymore.
I was really into the smaller guns like this and the Kahr, and other ones that fit this category. I was a bit concerned after Kimber's Solo (which I never owned). But that all changed with the 365. I was one of the first to get the 365 (including the infamous striker issue) but that ended the single stack era for me.

The single stack doesn't bother me. When I pocket carry, which is fairly often, I carry a single stack Ruger LC9s. But the LC9s costs quite a bit less than the similar capacity Kimber and the LC9s points and shoots well for me. So, I'd never have considered the Kimber then or now. I can get what I want in that category for a lot less money. I think the LC9s is no longer manufactured but I'd by an EC9 before spending the money on the Kimber.

EC9s are a great value, I can’t carry more than ten rounds often legally. They are perfect CCW’s and inexpensive.
Yeah it was weird I remember the Evo coming out and being announced but then quickly faded into oblivion, only a few reviews ever posted with it mostly drawing comparisons to the Kimber Solo then the Mako was dropped and no one was talking about the Evo anymore.

As far a single stacks being relevant I still carry a Glock 43 with a Pearce +1 baseplate. Almost the exact length as a 43x frame, which I also own, but I’m partial to the original 43
My PX4 was a good gun out of the box. Then I sent it to Ernest Langdon to do his magic, and it is now a great gun. Chris Baker at Lucky Gunner is a big fan of the PX4 compact. And you can check out why on their site. There are lots of great guns. And to my mind, many guns have come out which surpass the PX4. But irrelevant? Not a chance. If you want a flat shooting, reliable as snot 9mm, this is a good choice. I could make this my primary handgun and not be disadvantaged or disappointed at all.
I've never been a Kimber fan. It's all about style.

I like the size I like to look I wouldn’t like the trigger and I would like the capacity so I think it might have its place as a pocket gun for some people but it’s not for me

When you had your hand over it. I said Kimber SOLO! Never heard of the EVO and I've never owned or shot a kimber but I like single stacks so my vote is for relevant for the same price I would go with the CSX though

The dbl stack is nice, but sometimes the thinner, lighter gun is nice in the pocket !!!
PS, Never had trouble with recoil from the micro 9’s. Point & shoot !!! Hits what u point at.

Funny thing is, Evo is actually larger in every dimension than a Hellcat or P365. It's also heavier though the higher capacity of those guns will put them slightly over.

Don't really care about Kimber. But my single stack PPS M2 gets out and about in warm weather. Easier to conceal with its thin frame. In cold weather my double stacks come out to play.
It's relevant in that it's a functional, compact gun that shoots a popular, readily available, accepted defensive caliber. But why would you choose it over a P365, Hellcat, GX4 etc? Some commenters have said they like it cause it's thinner than double stacks. But it's actually very slightly THICKER than a P365 or Hellcat(I didn't compare thickness with any of the other micros). So really no reason to choose it outside of rather you personally find it more comfortable in hand, or you shoot better with it, or something like that.

Feel it would be better to stick to more popular pistols that have a proven track record and a bigger range of accessories. I lean towards a Glock 19 for a service pistol and a Kahr PM9 for deep concealment and backup use.

Never had/shot an EVO, but the single stack "pocket pistol" is still relevant. However, for me, if I'm putting a pistol in my pocket (always with a pocket holster) I want a frame safety. If it's not being carried while pointed at some body part, the EVO is probably fine.

I wanted a px4 sub compact, but beretta is like cz. They discontinue everything, and update guns no one wants like the tomcat 32acp.

I had the Kimber Solo and it was a great shooting if you wanted to practice with self-defense ammo. Most range ammo would jam it which took a great deal effort to clear the malfunction. I still have some single stack pistols but never carry them. I think that makes them irrelevant now. Why carry a Shield when you can carry a Shield Plus for example.

These are and we’re great guns! It’s a shame they cost sooooo much when they came out, I had one just like yours, great gun loved all metal striker fired gun, it had awesome trigger and shot great, I wanted one of the other models with different colors and g10 or wood grips but couldn’t swing it. I think it’s still a good gun but I won’t buy again unless they make a double stack version of it, then it would be the best carry gun, I was said to see them make the double stack polymer micro 9mm doesn’t do it for me. My favorite carry micro 9mm these days is the s&w CSX. Yeah the trigger has false reset but it doesn’t bother me bc it’s single action and such a short trigger reset anyways it’s not hard to get right. I’ve had all the different micro 9mm’s and it is the one I have came back too. I’d love to see the evo in double stack version tho I’d buy it.

Are 3” single stacks still relevant? Yes, of course. Like you said they are small enough for pocket carry or on your ankle as a BUG.
Is a Kimber still relevant? No. Over the last 20 years Kimbers have acquired a terrible reputation. You could not pay me to carry a Kimber to protect myself.
Now a Glock 42/43, Walther PPS, or S&W Shield are all excellent small single stack guns that I would stake my life on.
Nice looking gun but I am not big on Kimber, 500 round break in for a gun that cost more than all the competition doesn't excite me.

I like single stacks, but at over $600, there are much better options in my opinion.
That's a cool looking little pistol and I could see how I would use it if I had one, but I wouldn't pay that much for it. There are too many other option that's not as expensive.

I can say the size and its in 9mm still makes it a decent option, the reliability seems to be its downfall as the census seems to dictate. The price is not that bad, I'm pretty sure colt mustangs were about that 20 years ago new and they were 380. The Kahr K9 has always been high 7-850 range and its basically the same thing. I don't think the demand is high for that type anymore, unless you want to pocket carry an all metal gun, that's really the only reason to buy it. There are better options at that price point. Its relevant just in a limited role.

I don't think single stacks are really very relevant at this point. And I've never been a huge Kimber fan, too high priced for as many malfunctions. Especially with such a heavy trigger for this particular pistol.

Yup, still relevant. Damn nice looking piece of hardware. I carry a Bersa Thunder every day. So single stacks are acceptable. I wouldn't go more than about $400 for the Kimber.

We carry a single stack...heck, we don't own a double stack of any sort...never owned a Kimber, the brand has always struck us as overpriced, but somebody must like them...

I own one. They claim the metal frame assists with absorbing recoil. That has NOT been my experience at all. I find the same size polymers (sig 365, S&W shield, Glock 43) to be less snappy than the Kimber. Also not a fan of the trigger. I find it weird that the frame moves forward (unless you manually forward assist it before pulling the trigger every time) when you dry fire the gun. I saw it happen in the video the second time Dan pulled the trigger. It's almost like it's not completely in battery. Looks nice, feels good in the hand and appears to be a good concept, just not a fan while live firing (and at the end of the day, isn't that all that really matters?).

All reliable guns are relevnt but... With so many better options today, their utility is diminishing. You can pick up used single stacks now really cheap, there is a massive oversupply since the micro double stackes showed up. I buy used and trade in guns for a large LGS in TX. Prices offered are dropping fast.

I get so much feedback on kimber that they are unreliable that I haven't bought one yet. Beautiful guns, I get close to buying but the reliability stops me. I almost always carry single stack, p938, so to me they are still a great choice

I prefer metal framed pistols, if the Kimber Evo or Kahr K9/MK9 were double stacked, I’d be all over them. I’m currently carrying an Sig P365X with a mischief machine alloy frame, love it, but I would prefer to carry a DA trigger.

A heavier trigger is a good thing in my mind. Without a thumb safety that's the only thing keeping you from shooting your balls off. If the price was in the $350 range it would sell.

PX4 is relevant. As far as the Kimber Evo and for all pocket guns, yes they are relevant. Especially in the craziness of today. Stay armed, stay trained, train often and above all...stay safe!

That Kimber is obsolete, why not show new ones. Try holding a flashlight that’s on an run it along the slide and frame on your firearm. See that light coming through.

Great video. I would have to say this gun is no longer relevant. With the shield plus, SIG 365 and the Taurus (of all companies) G4 with the price point, capacity and aftermarket support of these options make them a much better choice.
