    Just to mention that if held by a RIGHT HANDED shooter and gripping two hands, there is no laser obstruction. Only for those who are LEFT HANDED.

    I have both. Carried the Sig P938 for a couple of years and enjoyed (also bought one for my Daughter which she still carries). Bought the Kimber Micro 9 CDP LG. The CDP has Kimber’s carry-melt treatment, no sharp corners, rounded edges. It is great. The Crimson Trace is outstanding (why I bought, as I have several on 1911’s). You need the left hand model. I have easily over 1000 rnds in both pistols as does my daughter (she takes many advanced shooting classes). Both of us have Crimson Trace lasers on our P938’s, but it is an attachment to the trigger guard and requires a special holster, the Kimber fits any holster. She carries with Hornady CD, I carry Lehigh Defense, both of us use PMC Bronze at the range. Both pistols are outstanding without any issues, but the Kimber is so sleek, refined and elegant; it carries like butter.

      I was very impressed with my first exposure to the Kimber - and for sure need the left handed version of the Trace….although rest of my family is right handed….so I’m the problem. (:

    I own both, never had a Kimber until I got the micro 9. Couldn't pick a winner though, quick not, I shoot right handed and in that orientation the laser doesn't get blocked with both hands on the pistol. I bought the identical kimber and the cheapest version of the 938 and both were in the 600-650$ range. Here in Washington State the equinox is actually closer to 900$, much more expensive

    I HAD the Kimber Micro .380 - what a disaster! Failures to feed/eject. Gunsmith couldn’t fix it; sent it to Kimber; they polished the ramp, worked for about a minute and then 6 FTEs in 10 rounds. Got rid of it that day. According to the gun shop guys, Kimber QC has fallen off. I own neither but I’d go sig.

    You hit on the right points, but needed to discuss/show the firing of both mini 9's. I too am a SIG fan & own both the 938 and the Kimber Micro 9. You did mention in passing the Kimber may be "snappier". My 938 is my EDC and I love it, but as you know not all people love the tiny 9's. They are very snappy. Not a particularly fun range gun, but you need to practice with them to get extra comfortable. The Kimber Micro 9 IS more snappy the the all steel Kimber Micro 9. That less weight in the Kimber is surely the reason. So wish there were more firing videos of these mini 9's.

    • @Hawtload
      @Hawtload 11 месяцев назад +1

      I clicked this video to find out the recoil compared between the two.
      my kimber micro 9 feels like I'm shooting a 357 out of a scandium frame
      the CSX is almost the same size but the recoil is much less harsh
      I don't remember my P938 being as snappy as my micro 9

    I have the Sig P938. First purchased it’s predecessor, the P238. Both firearms are so similar, except for the caliber. I have always thought of these as pocket pistols. The Kimber Micro 9 I have no experience. Have owned Kimber 45 acp’s, so I know they are quality firearms. In my opinion, the Micro 9 seems to be more closely related in size to the Glock 43x. Maybe a little big as a pocket pistol. I’m happy with the Sig.

      @JOEY.BOY.N.Y.C.420 9 месяцев назад +1

      I'd agree about the size. The sig is deff a "pocket" sized Pistol. As in throw in your literal pocket no problem. The kimber is more like a super small subcompact. I'd agree not quite a pocket Pistol. Not much bigger at all but deff would def sit alot diff in pocket. Which I'd say is probably a pro for most people. Cause biggest complaint I can see for the sig is the grip size. People have convinced themselves that the remaining 3 fingers that aren't involved in the shooting of the gun need to have a place of the grip to get a proper purchase on the firearm. And that's just not the case, and if that's a concern to you then you may need to rethink your shooting positions. Cause all the force used to 1. Shoot the gun and 2. Manage recoil to get back on target are in the index finger and the webbing(pocket) between index and thumb.

    • @notchagrandpa8875
      @notchagrandpa8875 8 месяцев назад +1

      The sig 938 and the kimber micro 9 are nearly identical in size in fact any holster made for one will fit the other, if anything the kimber micro 9 is perhaps ever so slightly thinner, anyone who carries the sig 938 as a pocket pistol could just as easily carry the kimber micro 9 and because of the rounded edges of the kimber it tends to print less than the sig 938. I own both and carry both if I were asked which is my favorite I’d say I don’t have one both are fantastic firearms.

      Messing with triggers on little guns goes bad . And also not hating but why should you have had to polish the feed ramp on a gun you paid a premium for. I'm just saying I hear this all the time .if you are paying for a upgraded.model it should need nothing more than a card swipe

    I had a Kimber micro 380. On the third return, I wrote a note saying this is a piece of trash. Kimber called back and,” I agree, the next sound you hear will be it going into the trash. “Kalunk”! He gave me the full MSRP on anything in Kimber’s book. I picked the officer’s pistol, Ultra Carry 2, and sent Kimber $310. It was and still is the standard for 1911s. Perfect out of the box. I bought a Colt officer’s 1911. I took out the internal parts, including that nasty plastic trigger, and threw them in the trash. I ordered and installed all new Kimber UC2 parts. Now the Colt feels and shoots like the Kimber. It’s like having a matched pair of Kimber Ultra Carry IIs Soo Kimber is a mixed bag. Thanks. I love anything Sig Sauer! I have an Sig P238, “Baby”.

    A couple years back I wanted to go to a smaller carry gun and I looked at all of them. I have small hands and just about all of the poly guns were just too bulky on the grips, double stacks were like grabbing a 2x4. I ended up with the Kimber Stainless Micro 9 and just picking it up the feel was great and solid weight. Always been a fan of the 1911 platform which in my case I was comfortable with. I carry every day and still have not found another pistol I would carry in place of my Micro 9.

    I’m right handed so one or two hand shooting isn’t a problem with the laser grips. I can see a left handed shooter could have trouble. I don’t know if they make those grips for left handed shooters.
    I also have the 1911 LW Kimber and it has some sharp corners too. It seems all automatic pistols have that front sight that I have to be careful not to snag when pulling the pistol. The one thing I like about the revolvers is fast on the draw.
    Good review. Thanks.

    The Kimber really works for me. The fit, finish, and overall appearance is top notch. Sight acquisition is very easy. It’s the right weight for everyday carry as well making concealment a breeze. There is a price difference of course, but to me it was well worth the extra cash. Cheers!

  • @NorthwoodsNomad

    I have the Sig P938 SAS model that has the dehorned melt down treatment on the slide . Nice rosewood grips and two tone give it a very handsome appearance much like the Kimber you’ve shown here .
    I replaced the front sight with a Truglo fiber optic / tritium one and that really helped me with quicker sight acquisition and improved the overall image and performance for picking up my targets .
    The takedown lever can be a little tricky to manipulate as you have to retract the slide to it’s designated position with one hand and then push the takedown pin out from the ejection side while wiggling and pulling it out from its origin while simultaneously keeping the slide from moving, it just takes a little practice but the first couple times was kinda tedious lol 😂
    Overall a great shooter , feels great in my smaller hands and very dependable and well built , no issues whatsoever.

    I have the Kimber Micor 9 STG (Soft Touch Grip) and I really like the feel of it. I have small to medium hands so the STG, which has the magazine with the pinky extension, very much assisted me in getting a full purchase on the grip. The options with the Kimber Micro 9 are endless and the price range is as well. I feel as if you're paying for the KIMBER name which is alright because they do make quality firearms (just like Sig Sauer).

    Hey I'm not sure about people's preferences about carrying with comps. But kimber makes an amazing option. It's called the micro 9 esv Mc tp. It's a mouthful but it's there esv enhanced slide with porting and the Mc is micro comp and the tp is just there tridium pro night sights. Its 2 tone black slide satin stainless finished frame. But this thing is super sexy. Finding em new around 9 but like new selling all over the place from 7 to 850. And if you don't like the 2tone black and satin combo they have a all stainless version also. But that version doesn't have the lightening cuts or ported slide whatever you'd call it. So a 2 tone option and a full stainless option. If your lookin for small carry gun that's kinda flashy. I'm telling you you'll love this option😊

    My only concern with the Kimber is the barrel twist rate. The Sig is said to be 1:10", while the Kimber is 1:16. I've seen several reviews of the only other 9mm pistol I've ever seen with a 1:16 twist and projectiles were tumbling at 30'. Based on even that possibility, I'll take the Sig. If Kimber offers the Micro 9 with a standard 9mm twist rate, I'd happily purchase one. Truly a lovely weapon.
    The other thing is that I believe the triggers on both of those have been modified. I've watched every video on youtube comparing those two and no one has ever measured trigger pull weights like those. Both are commonly over 6lbs, occasionally over 7 lbs.

    Thanks for the video! I was more looking for something as a backup, ankle carry gun that's pretty compact but north of .380. I appreciate your thoughts. I think the Sig wins just based on pricing and functionality.

    P938 legion is my carry. I too found little difference between the two. The legion model is the best of the Sig options, no shocker, as it is the only one with trigger guard checkering, the cerekote finish, and it has the beveled metal mag well which is huge for mag swaps. I also run a Kimber Micro 9 8 round magazine in it. No faults, but just had to modify the plastic end cap to fit in the mag well. Can't go wrong with either firearm, Id reccomend the P938 Legion by a hair.

    I increased the performance of my Micro 9 by increasing the pinky grip. Also, I increased the performance by increasing the roughness in the front of the grip. Finally, I put on a green laser that is far superior than a red one.

    No comparison, the Sig is vastly superior. The Kimber Micro 9 is a super expensive paperweight. Never had a single malfunction with the Sig....the Kimber wouldn't even chanber a round even AFTER being sent back to the factory after only a single trip to the range. When I got the Kimber back from the factory and it still didn't work I sold it and will never buy another Kimber.

    The Sig is a nice weapon, but it only holds 7 rounds.
    now if Sig would redesign that gun and take it to the next level with a 11 or 12 round capacity
    I feel the gun would probably start to sell like hotcakes...
    I presently have a Smith and Wesson CSX which is basically
    the same size as these two guns and it is a very nice 12 round gun
    it has become my normal carry gun...
