Props to the sound guys on this. It's damn not easy to mix this sonic delirium of electronic and acoustic instruments all together. Good job.

I love how she credits her sound engineer as a band member. You miss a lot of what she's going for if the layering and sounds are muddled too much.

Noou she did really gave me a glimpse of what is she experiencing during composition, you try to find something to portray and when you have it, you dont realize what you have crafted either how you get it, isnt really what you begin with at all anymore, its kinda like trying to describe a dream with its details, but you dont really see clearly what it is so you have half of it, like you know where you are but dont know how you get there, or what are you doing. She mixes a lot of emotions there. So precious

    • @briankehew579

Exactly. Charming to be more introspective and not "salesman" about music. She communicates very well with just the music, that's enough.

I was so astonished when after travelling to different country (almost to a different continent) to attend her live show I found out that there were barely 100 hundred person among the public. But, if anything it helped the whole atmosphere (Linz, Austria, sudden wind and the rain from nowhere, but the concert itself indoors) . She allures to middle ages, but it was something like pre-historic.

That description sounds exactly like the first song on her album "Aviary" she's promoting here. The song is "Turn The Light On" and it is a cathartic mess of instruments all screaming to showcase extasy over each other.
It's a mess but somehow it still makes sense musically once you get used to it, it's very clearly tonal, perhaps a bit arhythmic but still very much in a major scale, which tells us it's not an accident.

It's nice; a bit comparable to Aurora regarding the etherical dimension impression. But there is a lot of precedents...
When talking, she has a lot of mimics from Taylor SWIFT I assume she admires (me too) personally. (In the voice but also using often : "like" e.g.) (or tessitura : "I don't had an idea" (19:18))
She explicitly denied having any "strategy" as a method for inspiration/creation except to be nourished by culture: especially literature -- among others arts (also "visuals") -- and letting these materials 'chemically-reacting' together and surge after via synth or sounds but she underlined that texts are put/grafted after on the untangled mess! (The expression: 'Palimpsest ("layer") of memory' could sum-up her vision on that.)
However, I felt she would aim at some targets commercially -- and I agree with WATERS that music is a job that demands so much hardships, talents, skills and perseverance even if nevertheless it is still risky in addition to remains difficult to survive economically, because "many are called, but few are chosen"... So, there should not be any kind of embarrassment for artists nor radio, a fortiori non-profit ones as KEXP, in doing advertisements in exchange of free performances donated to the enjoyment of old and young listeners alike -- that I guess were cinema or video games. She mentioned "play", "word game" a couple of time (30:52) and there is a huge market for music that could be heard during hours in loop without bore or cause seasickness! I think she (successfully) is right on in that respect and also can match with an other segment: the mystics/spirituals, new-ages of the era in which we are fit well and aspire to a new genre of what was labeled as : "fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heavenly_voices" as suggested by the titled "aviary" of her album all the more so for workers in the service industry whom concern is to escape from stress generated by noisy or even nasty colleagues to stay focus and healthy in spite of forced pace that are another type of cadence and rhythm coevolving since time immemorial...
Conclusion: as she said politic and personal are meshed together and form the context for expression, there is always an intent/desire and a plan or biais in humain's actions, consciously and explicitly or not.
Although I need to hear more to be sure. Sorry for my lengthiness but I rather speak 'rarely' and deeply than everywhere superficially.

By the way, 2 etymologies given by Wiktionary are :

Cognate with Dutch sond (“sound; strait”), Danish sund (“sound; strait; channel”), Swedish sund (“sound; strait; channel”), Icelandic sund (“sound; strait; channel”). Related to swim."
"From Middle English sound, sund, isund, ȝesund, from Old English sund, ġesund (“sound, safe, whole, uninjured, healthy, prosperous”), from Proto-Germanic *gasundaz, *sundaz(“healthy”), from Proto-Indo-European *sunt-, *swent- (“vigorous, active, healthy”).
