I still work with a certain car brand you know and have built up a nice working relationship them. I invoice my full day rate and just shoot one day. No more doing stories and generating content. Thats left to the ambassadors. I found it very worthwhile to establish the relationship initially. This works for me but certainly wouldn't for a full time photographer. A car doesn't put food on the table. Ditto for all other companies.
Glad to hear you're getting paid for your efforts dude, I don't mind the barter system if something of value is exchanged that could at a later stage be sold on etc, but as you say too creating stories and content for the loan of a car can't buy food.

Very informative man. Early in my career it's great to hear this.
