Using a Ninja V just for recording that costs almost as much as the camera but provides no quality difference, only slightly better editing performance... Yeah, totally doesn't need expensive stuff.
@@gges1605 The Ninja V only records RAW from a camera that outputs RAW over HDMI. Thought that would have been obvious, but apparently people don't do any research before spouting nonsense. The a6100 not only does not output RAW video over HDMI it doesn't even shoot LOG. The only difference would be 4:2:0 vs 4:2:2 chroma subsampling but that is unlikely to cause any visible difference in the image unless you were keying a greenscreen.

Fellow Filmmaker impressed me, Canon 60D Mark 2 and her footage was great. Almost everyone else had a Sony A7SIII haha so as a developing filmmaker, it was awesome to see a camera like the 60D produce high quality footage
As a cinematographer of about a decade - I'd say that having the newest gear and autofocus is horribly overrated. I have pulled off TV shoots with entry level Nikon DSLRs before for the American Heros Network. Skill beats the crap out of new and better gear. Though yes, I much prefer my newer pro gear over the now very old entry level stuff.
Gerald, that was DOPE! You have brought a seemingly untouchable arena of RUclips to the masses. What I mean by that is you've made it real, authentic, and touchable. Having pros rundown what they use encapsulates everything RUclips has done, in one fell swoop. I applaud what you've managed to do with the sheer diversity and inclusion of RUclips mentors. Thanks for having me on! Wow, it was really Sony dominated on the camera front, and mostly full-frame too. Some pretty high-end setups, i think mine was one of the cheapest! Sorry my eyes looked a bit weird, I was tired and my colour was a bit off as I'd accidentally left my ND on indoors - whoops!
I actually said Aha out loud hearing your setup. Honestly many of these RUclipsrs only have expensive cameras because either they can afford it or just like having latest gear. They can easily switch out with cheaper cameras and we'll not even notice.

Wow the Sony A7S III dominates. More than 50% of the RUclipsrs use this camera. That is very instructive. The Sony A1 is a superior camera, but it costs twice as much and the only real advantage is the 8K feature and it is doubtful, that most people will see any difference.
I LOVE the diversity here. I've been super into the photo, video/content, audio, and tech spaces on RUclips so seeing them altogether in one video talking about gear is freaking awesome.

This is a great idea for a video: the cameras and the equipment that successful RUclipsrs use. It is always inspiring to get to know these details. What's useful is to have dozens of these RUclipsrs in one 24 minute video. A real treat. Thanks Gerald. Could you please do an updated version for mid-2023 with a different bunch of successful RUclipsrs? (March 18th, 2023).
My single strongest take from this video - you guys are awesome no matter what equipment you use, because you bring QUALITY CONTENT to the table. I am watching content from most of the content creators in this video and the one thing they all have in common is that they are working hard and delivering quality.
So fun to see everyone's setup. I think this goes to show that there are plenty of ways to create high quality content, and we live in a time where gear is not a limiting factor anymore. Now to decide whether to add "appeared in RUclips video alongside Tom Green" to my resume or not...
Lots of interesting information here. I feel like I need a spreadsheet with each content creator listed line by line with all their gear. LOL I kept rewinding while asking "Wait, what mic did they say? Which lenses are they using?" It's a lot to take in, but super useful.
That was fun. For some reason you left out Kasey from Camera Conspiracy. But then again... he would probably mix'em all up starting from Sony A7III, back to Olympus, then on to the Fuji XT4, little experimenting with a broken, plopping GoPro, then hop over to the Canon R, switch over to the Huawei P40 Pro mobile phone and finally ending up on a Panasonic G9 on manual focus crossing the street in slomo and chasing an underfed squirrel... :-)

Hey, I’ve noticed all the larger channels like Geralds have distanced themselves from camera conspiracies!. I’m pretty certain it’s due to his incessant comments about the earth being flat and that aircraft vapour trails are chem trails. Furthermore and significantly more concerning is that he’s opening an anti vaxxer!… which obviously is actually dangerous and harmful to people health the kind of false information and lies they spout about the covid vaccine etc. So yea think about it no successful channel is going to risk their hard work,their business for the sake of featuring or referencing someone with such toxic believes!.. to make things even worse he’s recently started belittling people with cancer. With this joke he’s running with about having wrist cancer and basically diminishing the trauma cancer suffers go through but making it into so kind of joke that cancer sufferers are weak! Basically he’s gone into self destruct mode and is wrecking his own channel.I used to love love the channel but sorry I’m not tolerating his BS!. Yes! Especially with so many on the same camera (and a lot of similar audio), the other details would be great- lights, diffusion, settings, etc. as well as any ‘special’ things like sound dampening, remote/controls, and monitoring

This is a great idea for a video: the cameras and the equipment that successful RUclipsrs use. It is always inspiring to get to know these details. What's useful is to have dozens of these RUclipsrs in one 24 minute video. A real treat. Thanks Gerald. Could you please do an updated version for mid-2023 with a different bunch of successful RUclipsrs? (March 18th, 2023).

My single strongest take from this video - you guys are awesome no matter what equipment you use, because you bring QUALITY CONTENT to the table. I am watching content from most of the content creators in this video and the one thing they all have in common is that they are working hard and delivering quality.
So fun to see everyone's setup. I think this goes to show that there are plenty of ways to create high quality content, and we live in a time where gear is not a limiting factor anymore.
Now to decide whether to add "appeared in RUclips video alongside Tom Green" to my resume or not...

Lots of interesting information here. I feel like I need a spreadsheet with each content creator listed line by line with all their gear. LOL I kept rewinding while asking "Wait, what mic did they say? Which lenses are they using?" It's a lot to take in, but super useful.

That was fun. For some reason you left out Kasey from Camera Conspiracy. But then again... he would probably mix'em all up starting from Sony A7III, back to Olympus, then on to the Fuji XT4, little experimenting with a broken, plopping GoPro, then hop over to the Canon R, switch over to the Huawei P40 Pro mobile phone and finally ending up on a Panasonic G9 on manual focus crossing the street in slomo and chasing an underfed squirrel... :-)

Other camera brands should take a note on what Sony is doing. It's the king supreme with a vast majority of content creators using it.

Hey, I’ve noticed all the larger channels like Geralds have distanced themselves from camera conspiracies!. I’m pretty certain it’s due to his incessant comments about the earth being flat and that aircraft vapour trails are chem trails. Furthermore and significantly more concerning is that he’s opening an anti vaxxer!… which obviously is actually dangerous and harmful to people health the kind of false information and lies they spout about the covid vaccine etc. So yea think about it no successful channel is going to risk their hard work,their business for the sake of featuring or referencing someone with such toxic believes!.. to make things even worse he’s recently started belittling people with cancer. With this joke he’s running with about having wrist cancer and basically diminishing the trauma cancer suffers go through but making it into so kind of joke that cancer sufferers are weak!
Basically he’s gone into self destruct mode and is wrecking his own channel.I used to love love the channel but sorry I’m not tolerating his BS!. I’m not expecting him to even be referenced on any prominent RUclips channels from now on.
I have never downloaded a video from RUclips until now! Also, I never knew how many RUclipsrs I watch until now… lol I watch damn near all of these people.

Yes! Especially with so many on the same camera (and a lot of similar audio), the other details would be great- lights, diffusion, settings, etc. as well as any ‘special’ things like sound dampening, remote/controls, and monitoring

Hombre, U R CRAAAZYYY!!! I cant believe i sat here for almost half hour watching a video about what equipment content creators use on a daily basis. it was fun though and very interesting. The vid of the girl in red at 13:10 looked AWESOME. It was crisp and clean, I was blown away by it. And I realise that the Sony A7Siii is the cam of choice here. Again, it was total fun watching this VLOG. Keep up the good work!
