    I needed this video 5 years ago!! I had everything possible done to my 2.0 TDI crafter by various mechanics/ garages. Some parts changed more than once. All we got on start up was the van fires and then dies. Then would run after a million turns of the key. And ran like normal. I myself knew it had to be timing because of the codes we were getting. After just over a year or so trying to fix it all the mechanics gave up. And so did I. But as I mentioned to the mechanics about changing the crank pulley, they all said it won't be that, it will last the lifetime of the van. So the van sat on my drive for 4 years untouched! Every day I looked at the van sat there I said to myself I will change that pulley, it will work!! So I finally found the time in January this year to get stuck in to changing that pulley. And first turn of the key she fired up and ran lovely 👍 6 months on she still does. But today I got dpf problem. Think it's the dpf sensor. No power. Unplug it and it runs fine 🤷🏻‍♂️ But I can confirm that this pulley change dose work 👍

      Good to hear this fixed your issue.
      Regarding the DPF, if you pull off a hose to the pressure sensor it can trick it to think it's not blocked. So maybe the sensor is working and doing its job . Possibly needs cleaning

      Did you do the pulley change yourself or did you have it towed to a shop?

    Mate I'll tell you I was going crazy over this fault. Spent weeks trying to sort it out checking wiring, changed camshaft position sensor and crankshaft position sensor. Was even thinking the crankshaft was damaged. I would never have guessed it was the crank gear pulley as it looks fine from looking at it

    The issue I’m going through now as we speak, changed the sensor A last night and it didn’t work even after I watched your video but what’s telling me it this is because I heard some little tinking noise that I hadn’t heard before when I started the car up and that got my attention but I still drove it and it went down on me.

    How did you figure that out? I am in the middle of this issue with a 13 passat CKR engine code. I scoped the signals and they are clear and clean. I can only see a small variation of on cam tooth, some starts its on the leading edge and other times its on the falling edge. I cannot find a know good cam crank wave form.

    this can be fixed by software , need a tool to read/write the ecu , works 100%

    Hi there I have a similar code p01600 code in touran.symptoms engine cuts off with dashboard blank and won't start esp.after driving 45-60 mins and loss of power max 2000rpm. The mechanic has changed the camshaft sensor and even battery still the problem persists.Its similar to yours that once warm 15-20 mins, doesn't start and need to crank 5-6 times.I wonder is it pulley issue or anything else if you suggest.

    Have the same code right now on 2014 TDI Jetta. Would start and stall immediately. Changed the cam sensor while riding the struggle bus 😂 put it all back together prior to finding this video and now it just cranks. Same code still exists? Could this be the ticket?

    Hello bro,
    I got the same fault code I got a 2.0 TDI GTD 2015 and I have changed the VVT solenoid house and screw that goes in.
    The sensor also changed close to the glow plug also changed.
    But fault is still here.
    Do you recommend me changing this pulley? I got no problems with the car falling out or with starting maybe just sometimes in the morning it takes a couple seconds more to start the car.
    Would love to hear from you

      Also would like to add that I changed the timing belt but the fault didn’t came directly maybe a month after. It is now 6 months that I’m driving the car with the code on

    Does it affect the 2L 240bhp BiTDI Passat?

    • @ORileysAutos
      @ORileysAutos  3 года назад

      I've not experienced it on the newer bi tdi but it's likely that it is the same engine block with different ancillaries and turbo

    • @Mickytdi
      @Mickytdi 3 года назад

      @@ORileysAutos The 240 engine is totally different, VW went to town on this engine. The block has been made stronger along with the pistons, crankshaft, con rods, larger ports on the head, different cam profiles., 2 plunger fuel pump, lower compression etc. Even the timing belt is different and stronger with a different tensioner. It’s a nice engine. I can’t say if the cam pulley is different though, ETKA would probably be able to tell. I have 110,000 miles on mine now so far so good. Mine is 2017. I do have one issue that happens every month or 2 when driven part throttle slow. I get a limp mode with the EPC light, and the fault rail pressure too high, I’m guessing pressure regulator valve on the fuel pump?

    • @ahsinsmith3963
      @ahsinsmith3963 2 года назад

      @@Mickytdi or it could be the phaser on the intake camshaft (the phaser mechanism within the intake cam sprocket body tend to wear down over time and can throw the timing off by a half tooth. ).

    New crankshaft sensor fitted prior to uk roadtrip a couple months back, and looks what's back.
    Same code, p01600
    New lower crank pulley gear fitted two months back with new timing belt
    €1300 volkswagen charged me too, sensor bolt rounded off, they had to drop the gearbox to extract.
    Not a happy bunny.
    At least for now, I'm able to clear this fault code, and start Goliath.
    It's all fun and games🤣
