  • This was a fun diagnosis, the magnetic adjuster and oil control spool valve were having issues leading to the rough running condition.

This is a good video, what causes the spool valve stem to stick out when it is bad?All other youtube videos say to just replace it,but what cause it to go bad /stick out?

not sure why it does that, but I had one with it sticking out, I disassembled the spool valve (popped out the spring on the top that keeps it from falling out) and took it apart, pressed in the button using a vice and it worked fine. Again, not sure WHY it pushes out however maybe it's fixable.

Very interesting video! When you supported the engine with the floor jack, what was the jack pad pressing against, the oil pan? Also, what was it that caused the plunger to be so hard to remove from the oil control valve? Was it metal particles from the metal cam bridge screen? Old enamel or sludge from cheap oil? Or..? Thanks in advance!

Yeah, floor jack, block of wood and the corner of the oil pan (an area that has the most support with corners and wall, don't go for the middle of the pan, that will collapse). Corners save the world!

@@deamonmachine Aha, good tip about using the corner of the oil pan! No concerns about squishing out the oil pan gasket though? BTW, your haircut @1:58 is awesome!
