OMG I just discovered your channel from the ERS discord channel. I am very new to this kind of work but I got into it as a hobby and I have been getting more and more hooked on it. I have got to the point where I feel comfortable soldering/desoldering most components on any board and am now working hard to learn how to troubleshoot a circuit board, just like you were doing. All this was to say I found your way of describing things, what you were looking for so fantastic. I look forward to more :) Excellent channel!
Yeah, that happened to me when I just started with laptop repair. Turning on the laptop and no voltage on the charger. I didn't know that they are that smart to switch off if there is a short. 😄 Another trick with the power supplies is that a 45W charger might have not enough ampers to make a regular laptop work without a battery. So it also seems like the supply is bad whereas it is just weak.
Hi, where did you find the motherboard schematic? I have exactly the same computer and the same problem. With the help of your video, I found a short circuit elsewhere in the capacitor and now I should know the details of that component so I can get a new one.
Doesn't need more than a few seconds to find it in the web. www.badcaps.net/forum/troubleshooting-hardware-devices-and-electronics-theory/troubleshooting-laptops-tablets-and-mobile-devices/schematic-requests-only/107042-asus-gl553vd-schematics-please?p=1831697#post1831697 regards
@@fairrepair_en Thank you very much! Maybe I'm not the best at finding the right information on Google 😅 with your help I found the component information and I can get a new one! I hope the laptop will be fine 😅
beautiful and very useful video. I have a similar laptop in which by connecting the bare motherboard to the power supply the power LED turns on and the two mosfets easily deliver 19 volts so I don't think there is a short, but if I try to turn it on I get a black screen and a red keyboard. I also noticed that when I connect the motherboard to the USB interface, supplying power this time the power LED does not light up. Do you think it could be a bios problem here too?
From your obervations it might be possible. Check the inductors and make sure all voltages up to +NVVDD and +VCC_CORE are present, also try to find out whether the power rails looking healthy from resistance to GND measurements. If everything looks fine and basics like known good memory and tested in minimal configuration (no peripherals connected) are done, BIOS is the way to go. kind regards
Did the light educator lit when charging My Laptop does not turn on but the light lit a bit when I push the power button And when charging the battery educator lit What happened did the battery dead? Please help
With a short to GND on the Main power rail, there were probably no lights at all. Unfortunately I am too busy so i can not assist my subscribers with the troubleshooting in the RUclips comments. You have probably more power rails still working and need to find out where it is Stuck and why.
You get followers because you are helping on discord community. Thanks for your lessons.
