God bless this lovely man ! for those asking it takes me 30-45 mins to diagnose and find short with no thermal cam. -identify short on MOSFET -solder a wire to shorted side -inject voltage with non-linear PSU -I start feeling board with my hand ( if high amperage it will burn the skin ) if not obvious or whole board is getting warm I use alcohol on parts of the board and see where it evaporate -desolder wire on short -remove CAP and never change it !! ( I never replace cap because 1) I have no capacitance meter 2 ) Even if I know the value I can't find part 3 ) IT DOESN'T MAKE A DIFFERENCE ! ) ps*: through hundreds of repairs I only found it kinda important to replace CAP on signal areas: Wifi / bluetooth
@@vf3378 if you come from wealthy family then yes, but not everyone is that wealthy. I mean to buy those fancy tool like thermal cam, soldering station
The voltage injection tool and thermal cams are priceless tools for finding shorts, but I can't help but to notice your test leads for multimeter. It doesn't look like your common leads. Can you explain those.
Ya but the one thing about voltage injection is that without proper tools and understanding you can easily do irreversible damage. When it comes to graphics cards you want to make sure the main power rails aren't shorted to vcore before you inject voltage. So its not as simple as it looks.
You've inadvertently made an interesting point. The thermal cam and voltage injection tool collectively are expensive items. At first blush, a tech mayn't want to invest $400 to $700 in such equipment. I've been watching for a few months and it's likely you only record a fraction of the work you actually do. From the few jobs you've highlighted on video, I don't think it's too much to say that those devices have already paid for themselves several times over. The most valuable thing you possess is time and if it takes you less time to complete a job, that leaves more time to complete other jobs which in turn equate to more money being made because you can process jobs at a faster rate. The thermal cam and voltage injector pair are like magic wands that grant you more time. When used correctly, these are some of the best investments a tech could ever make for this type of work. Here here!
Perfect I need to order that tool I am completely convinced after watching you use it after the last month or 2. I will say that low melt solder has been awesome to use and your wick you sell has to the best I have ever used hands down, and I have tried lots of them. Great job thanks again for sharing I learn something on ever video you put out.
You have inspired me to get back into electrical repair.. I have spent a lot of my life keeping other people living their dream. Time to focus on myself. Salute!
You are the best, ever repairman. Bravo, To watch for me is I huge fun, how clear and wonderful You work! Only one question, how You know how much farad or microfarad will work? If it's less than have to be could be a problem? How You decide that is exactly this capacitor if we have millions with different specifications?
@@chendry looking the same size doesnt cut it in this instance, it must be the same as same electronically as well, he must have changed before on a previous repair to know what voltage and what capacitance it is, size isnt everything LOL
Brilliant once again. Really need to get around to getting a thermal camera. Nice and happy when a difficult job is done. When jobs go bad, it makes you sad. Customers are just amazed that the job is done and fully working for a good price. Keep up the good work.

I learned a lot from you sir.... but i have no tools to do the other things., thank for the video...God bless and keep safe to you and to your family sir
I love your videos watching them has made me grow technically . I tried to put into practice some of the techniques I learn from your videos. The only major limiting factor for me in the part of the world where I am are the high quality tools that you have. How I wish I could have a tool kit such as yours.
Hi Daka, thanks for the comment. You are so right. I really hope to build a college for juniors in any country in Africa someday. I now realize just how much knowledge passed us by especially the tools part. With the right tools, we can get so many more people interested in engineering.
You can do the same with ice spray and a power supply on hand (with slectable voltage ob about 0,8-1V). You only need the fancy stuff if you wanne make a business, so the tools pay for itself.
With the correct tools and your knowledge, everything is fixable! "Better than factory" I'm learning with an old iPhone7 board! Thanks for the inspiration and motivation
Hello sir , I hope all is well ! This why your the master of all repairs , you can retire and make more money by teaching and selling the tools I do follow others but no where as good as you or should I say better then factory you awesome sir ! May God bless you and the family and keep all very safe
You have an oscilloscope. You should do some transient response testings with dynamic load of that voltage injection tool. I would be curious of the results.
Excellent work, Alex. Big Boss should be commended for his hard work as well. To be able to disassemble and then reassemble all the different devices you get is a huge skill on it's own. I've been taking things apart since I was a child (but early on, definitely not getting them back together correctly). My mom hated me doing it but it has served me well in my life and jobs. Give Big Boss a huge thumbs-up! 👍
Priceless tools are priceless. But even greater tools are nothing If you dont have knowledge. And that, my dear, is not just money. Continuous time and effort, trial and error. Congratulations on another "better than factory" job
Great repair, 2 questions: how con you choose the cap value without measure the bad one (wich should give us a bad measure of course). Second question, if you would test all the shorted line, all the components in that line should be shorted, is it correct?
