The voltage issue of the ch341 affects the 3.3v eeproms only with the 1.8v adapter the voltage is correct for the data pins i used mine on both chips without modification but i consider getting another one and mod it, as for the clip i got no issues reading 3.3v bios chip on board i got the same readings using the clip and the bios adapter but for the 1.8v bios chip i got different readings sometimes the chip was not even detected despite checking with the multimeter the bios pins to make sure they're making contact with the bios legs so yes the clip is to be avoided btw the neoprogrammer feels more trustworthy than the other ch341 tools. Nice demonstration

It's possible with the Predators, that the high side fet sends the over voltage to the low side fet and blows that instead of the gpu.

So a high side short is usually fatal to the CPU?

Congratulation, you could now extract firmeware from pd controler. Is it really necessary to program pd controller? Is only a bios update could be enough? Thanks

Wow! That's some amazing dedication and determination. It's good to know there may be a way forward when it comes to these PD controller chips. I've replaced some basic Texas Instruments ones myself that don't require programming but haven't actually had one like this in for repair yet. Thanks for sharing. Definitley going to look into getting a Miniprog3 programmer.

Mate in case of a shorted CPU, would should be the course of Action? My UX434FQ has been sitting dead for an year and half. I need to access the data on SSD, I tried to remove it and using an enclosure tried to access data but thats when I realized at some point I encrypted my drive with bitlocker and lost they keys. So I think my best bet is to repair the same board so that I might be able to access my data. Any advise? Now I use Macbook Pro M1 and I don't think I will ever buy Asus again.

I don't physically know the Zenbook models. I watched a lot of videos before I started getting Asus ROG game laptops serviced (sometimes you can't refuse) OMG! I had this EXACT same issue on an Asus G14 GA401QM. 7Ohms to ground and the main power rail was shorted directly to CPU VCORE. When I injected 1V at 3A, the CPU was getting warm, so I figured this board was a no fix, but then I thought maybe a CPU DRMOS was bad. The problem was that there were no heat spots on any of the DRMOSes, so I had to guess. The first DRMOS that I removed relieved the short and resistance on the main power rail into CPU VCORE shot way up in the 50K Ohm range. Once I replaced the DRMOS, the board powered on and posted. I almost called this repair a no fix before I even tried to actually figure out what was actually bad - the CPU or the DRMOS? Luckily it was the latter.

Main power rail was shorted with the 1.2 and 3.3 frying the fets The new fets that you have got on the board are better in terms of circuit protection and CPU/APU might survive. 33:09 hand you your heart hoping it's gonna work 😂 happened to me so many times...

Why aren't the low voltage rails protected with a TVS diode or a similar component which would short the rail when voltage too high and so protect the GPU/CPU/APU and similar high cost complex components?
