    Did rack pulls last night. People in my gym have no clue what I'm doing. I love it.

      G Coy workout world. It's better than PF. They have 4 benches and two squat racks. They only charge $10 so they get a lot of the PF type crowd but there are some serious lifters there too. Even the big body builder that I'm friendly with questioned me once on rack pulls when he had the pins set up for rows and I asked to work in with rack pulls. He was like "What?"
      I think they are lesser known exercise is all.

      volvo245 If you want to be pedantic, sure.
      But the recovery interval is typically fixed. You can over-train for your given recovery interval.

    I just started using this as substitute for deadlifts on the NLP due to a proximal hamstring issue. I'm having to use a position just above the knee and basically the opposite of Mark's instruction as I try to stay more in my quads so more knee extension, more behind the bar etc. This keeps the loading more spread over the length of the hamstring without causing so much compression around the proximal origin. This has been helping and hasn't of yet caused an increase in symptoms. Spread the word for folks looking for a way to rehab a proximal hamstring issue.

    These rack pulls are substantially lower than his original video where he looked like he was only slightly below the knee

    Sprained my left lat doing heavy snatch grip rack pulls right below the knee. Wasn't too bad. Messed with my recovery, but I have had trouble feeling my left lat for a long time. I'm basically able to fully contract it now, but spraining it really helped me feel it more but it also confirmed to be that snatch grip rack pulls are excellent for getting a weighted stretch on the lats.

    The gym manager used to cheer me up when I'm doing conventional deadlift off the floor back then. However, the moment I started rack pulling, he can't even look me in the eye anymore. He must've think I've grown tired of deadlifting, and switched to damaging his well polished racks. Poor guy.

    Thank you for this detailed tutorial. Would it more accurate to say emphasis is on HIP extension, as opposed to lower back extension? I assume low back aims to maintain extension posturally, but the movement drive to be hip extension i.e. glute/ham extending hip joints?

    Rack pulls great supplement lift from the deadlift so block pulls rdls and stiff leg deadlifts are recovery lifts from the shumo and conventional deadlift. Best accessorie lifts got to be pendalay row tbar row barbell row but in powerlifting style for them two and chin ups and pull-ups I have a wicked back how I done it basically would use pendalay for tipical 5x5 so ver big load lift barbell row tbar use as reps to 8 so with the chinups and pull ups I mix it up with these 4 so I do like barbell row do chin ups or a pull up tbar row or tbar row barbell row or chinups pull ups get the drift.

    to lift a weight that is difficult to recover from.

      I just spent about 150 bucks in wood so I can build blocks for rack pulls. That way I don't have to actually rack the bar and let the weight hang on it.

    • @photomorti

      I have a bar just for rack pulls. Im not that strong im only doing 160 kg rackpulls but sometimes when fatiqued i put it back on the safety pins a bit harder than i want and so far its holding up well but once i get stronger im sure it will create a bit of a bend barbell.

  • @Rob-du2fp

    I recently added a "rack pull" to my program. Only issue with it, at my gym at least, is that the squat racks' lowest setting is right about knee-height for me, making the ROM shorter. Is this something I should worry about or just work with what I got?

    • @Rob-du2fp
      @Rob-du2fp 7 лет назад

      I also put rack pull is quotation marks since what I can do at my gym might not be considered a full rack pull due to the shortened ROM. Just clarifying for anyone curious.

    • @jeremymenning56
      @jeremymenning56 7 лет назад +4

      First name Last name it's not ideal but get one of those step platforms that they use in the classes. I do that at my regular gym that has fixed racks. But if I add the platform it brings the bar just below my knees.
