I absolutely LOVE that you are focused on the utility of the ideas you teach in this video. Instead of teaching one stand-alone lick, you are showing us a rolling lick idea and showing how this one simple thing can be used to build entire chunks of a solo. Thank you for the video.

This is one of the better slash videos on RUclips. You have a clear teaching style and really seem to nail slash’s style quite well. I have always been a decent blues-based lead player, but never learned the legato stuff and always wanted to get the “rolling” sound that slash gets. Now I just need to find some time to practice this stuff.
Side note, didn’t you used to play with no use for a name? I grew up listing to them, bad religion, lagwagon and nofx. Cheers!

yes, common problem for sure with the pinky being the hardest finger to control. I have had great success with my students helping them with pinky issues using finger and dexterity building exercises. I have some on the channel and on my instructional website. Heres a good exercise of mine here - ruclips.net/video/iVCv0hJZdcc/видео.html - and a good isolation exercise here - ruclips.net/video/IoToTC1Fb7A/видео.html - And in fact there are many variations on this exercise and maybe some of the others will also work for you. I have many of them on my full on video instructional website at www.NextLevelGuitar.com in the Guitar Lead>>>Picking and Finger Exercises section. Check out the isolation exercises there too - There is a free 3 day pass on the home page so grab that and check out some of the exercises - there is a lot there so give them a test drive and enjoy! And be sure to take a good look around the channel as we have tons of killer content and lessons taught in the same format - lots of fun stuff. Enjoy and stay tuned - lots more content coming soon. And just in case you didn't know I have another RUclips channel at EPIC GUITAR INSTRUCTION here - ruclips.net/user/EpicGuitarInstruction - which is more song based - be sure and check that one out also and learn some killer songs - lots of killer lessons and content as I post on both channels. Take care, and rock on! -David Taub, Next Level Guitar Inc. & EGI
