      TheConTraDemOn saw him live too, twice ! But gotta say, I kinda feel like he’s missing something recently yknow. Like he’s bored. Maybe because he’s just playing same old stuff and knowing Slash he wants to evolve as a guitarist.

    Great video! Would you consider doing a video on how to get certain sounds/voices from the guitar? I'm not talking about specific gear recommendations, but more just what sort of approximate settings we need to use to get our guitar to sound like (for example) Slash, or whoever... At the moment, I pretty much just cycle through Garageband looking for cool voices, but if you could explain the various settings (Gain, Treble, Bass, etc) and how they work so we could kind of figure it out for ourselves?

    • @RossCampbellGuitarist
      @RossCampbellGuitarist  6 лет назад +18

      Great suggestion John! For Slash's sound I'd recommend lots of Mid and Treble, and cutting a considerable amount of bass like so:
      Gain, Treble & Mid - 7.5
      Bass - 3
      I'll be sure to do an in depth video on this in the future :)

    Lol the major scale with a blues note on the thirteenth fret you say lol
    Thats adding a lot to the pentatonic 😂!
    Thats why i like the Pentatonic thoigh is that why you love it too?
    You can do so much musically with a pentatonic get out of here with the "pentatonic hate" 😂🎉
    He is playing the major scale now atbthe aelian location, with a bkues note.
    All that is is literacy.
    I do love slash a lot actually as a guitarist.
    Everyone says axel worked so hard but anything slash plays is immediate gold despite being "easy" its actually not easy and cert musical.

  • @minhly650

    For the pattern at 2:20, we'll take A minor scale for simplicity. We basically have the following scales:
    A minor natural: A B C D E F G A
    A minor pentatonic: A C D E G A
    A minor blues scale: A C D Eb E G A
    So, for the Slash's scale, we play the following notes:
    A B C D Eb E F# G A.
    Hope you can clarify it for me. Thank you.

    • @monsieurmitosis
      @monsieurmitosis 4 года назад

      The notes you listed are correct if you transposed the scale from F# to A minor. But it’s not so much a variation on the natural minor scale, as it is the Dorian mode, since it would include an F# instead of F. So it’s really just the Dorian scale with a b5 added in. (There may be a name for that scale, but if so, I’m not aware of it.)

    I was a junior in HS when Appetite For Destruction came out and needless to say I was a HUGE fan. I literally had a shrine for Guns N’ Roses in my room and have Slash’s skull from the cover tattooed on my arm. I saw them open for Aerosmith (yes they were the opening band) and they were AMAZING! They started their set with the slow version of -You’re Crazy- and I was mesmerized. This was pre-Lies so no one had heard it done this way yet and it’s all I talked about for MONTHS was the slow-version-of-You’re-Crazy-this and The slow-version-of-You’re-Crazy-that. Then when I heard that’s originally how they wanted to record it it made perfect sense. The song was just made to be played that way and it showed. This was also before all of the meltdowns, fisticuffs, too drunk to play moments, and riots that defined their later gigs. This was definitely them in their prime and I feel fortunate to have been able to see them like that. It’s a show I will never forget OBVIOUSLY as I could talk about it all day STILL! Needless to say Aerosmith also played a great show and pulled out a lot of their more obscure songs. This was the third time I had seen Aerosmith and it was also the best I had heard them. They opened their set with -Rats In The Cellar- and it’s only got better from there. Over all One of the best live shows I’ve ever seen and will ever see.
    I would say it’s the best show I’ve ever seen next to Pearl Jam, Nirvana, RHCP. That’s one show and that’s the order that they played. So, yes! I saw a show where Peal Jam was the opening act. I was really there to see Nirvana and well... we all know how that goes. Anyway, thank you for letting me indulge.

    The reason Slash melts faces (along with Angus Young, Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix) is cuz' he combines scales associated with Metal with the Blues scale to devastating effect; truly modern sounding and unique - sizzling Bluesy lead lines with the blinding speed of Metal. Ask anyone on the street to name a wild man of Rock or axe hero and they'll usually say Hendrix, Angus Young of AC/DC ("That mad school boy guy!") or Slash :) Jeff Beck has got Bluesy phrasing and so does Joe Satriani, same with Jimmy Page and loads of other legendary guitarists. So there!
