Noticed a significant drop of perf with the new illuminate update. 5800x and 6700xt could easily hold a solid 75fps with a smattering of ultra/high/medium settings and now it can barely keep above 60fps (with frequent drops into the high 40s low 50s) with same settings . The game is going to need a lot more optimization in the future.
Its similar to the rainforrest maps, I used to get around 70-80Fps on rainforrest 55 and now on Illuminate city maps I get 32 sometimes, with a 3060 and a ryzen 5 3600

I was actually really worried about this video cause at first I recorded like 2 hours of footage with every single setting and each level and I was just like "no one wants a 45 minute video when they just wanna optimize the game" lol. @ Ezcept my GPU is not top of the line. In the grand scheme of things, its upper mid range, and I’m playing at 4k, a res many would consider unrealistic. If my GPU can do this at 4k, I’d imagine a ton of gpus can play this game at 1080p.

yep, CPU is the bottleneck (just like in Minecraft), when I run HD2 my CPU is 100% and my GPU is 70%, doesn't matter how much you take the load of your GPU, you're still going to have low FPS and freezes if you have many entities and computation around, and high difficulty does exactly that - spawns more enemies
It’s so frustrating that this game runs the way it does. It could definitely be more optimized on the devs end for sure tho. I have a 3070 32 gigs of ram and a core i7 with only an 18% bottleneck
hey idk if it will help anymore or if someone mentionned it before but it worked for me with my low cpu 3400G In steam right click on your game > propreties > under Launch Option write "--use-d3d11" (two dashes without the " " of course.) Should make a difference, it's forcing the game to launch under DirectX11 instead of 12 and weirdly enough it seems to boost my fps, it's not close at all from insane graphics but it makes it playable if you tweak the display option in game at low graphics. Also it appears to make it less hungry towards the CPU and my fan stopped sounding like a Ps4 loading the latest CoD menu. hope this will help
I still get crappy fps in HD2 despite going from a 3060 to 7800 xt at native on 1440p. regularly fps drops below 60 with 4 players and fire tornadoes and forest stages and projectiles and drop ships all over the screen. I Followed your suggestions in this video including changing from native to ultra quality render scaling and it's much smoother although when you're on 4 players and on level 7-10, fps STILL tanks to 45-ish I find, so I think this is a CPU issue at this point. The game is broken
I'm having the same "issues" with the game since launch. I have a 2080 with a Ryzen 5 3600 and i tought that i could play the game at least on medium or even low graphics at a stable 60fps but no, the difference between low and ultra is barely noticeable and, as you stated on the video, its different for each map and difficulty.. I love the game but this makes me not wanna play. I cant stand the low frames.. Im starting to think about buying the ps5 version, but i'll see some videos before to make sure it works as i expect.. Yeah it's honestly crazy how poorly optimized this game is. Atm I just avoid all bug missions and jungle planets. The discord server does say that this is a CPU heavy game and when I asked about my cpu, people say it's way outdated. It's a great CPU but for a game like this it chugs lol. The PS5 option might be good if you have one! Idk about the experience other than a ton of people complaining about not being able to access their friends list so that might be something to be cautious of. Another thing I didn't go over enough was that apparently there's a pretty big performance gap between 1080p and 1440p so idk what resolution your monitor is but that might cause some performance issues as well. Games with large amount of spawns is a killer to lower tier CPU's because of Shadows. U need better CPU, not a better GPU. Making all the settings Low is meaningless if ure CPU limited. This also applies to games like MMORPG's because of Spawns and shadows. Upgrading to a 5700x3d Alone will significantly boost your FPS provided u lower your render scale to ease ur gpu. IT is not your GPU that is holding you back, since Image Scaling is in use and available. Your CPU will mostly take care of physics, the positions and behaviour of different entities. Any games that are Spawn heavy is CPU intensive. thats just how it is.
I've been running gtx1080 + geforce experience since 2017-18ish? and never even knew about the upscaling feature of geforce experience. thank you for your informative video. i usually play fine with my setup thus far, but when i tried on my partner's laptop (rtx3070) i struggled with this game. her laptop, spec wise, is superior to my pc. but even with geforce experience and all the things i normally use, it struggled. I enjoy your uploads and just wanted to say thank you this time. please keep them coming. I'm gonna try your in game settings, as well as geforce experience upscaling, and see if i can get even more performance out my setup.
@@lastnamefirstname3004 yeah laptops are confusing, their graphics cards are different from desktop cards so even though it says 3070 it might have the performance of a 1060 or something lol. Game is pretty rough but its heavy on CPU so im kind of wishing id gone with a 7800x3d or something but ill be upgrading my cpu in a year or so, probably 9800x3d when it comes out.

U can easily tweak the Scaling settings to ease the GPU but You can't ease the CPU using a lower resolution scale. the only way I can play hd2 is by turning on AFMF2 on amd software. AMD recently kind of ''fixed'' the cut of frame gen when you move the camera and reduced the input latency by 30+%. Now I play at 120/150 fps 2k (rx 7800xt/5800x3d) and the added latency is barely noticeable.
It's hard out in these streets lol. But for real I just haven't had any issues with the graphics card other than this game. I'm playing Delta Force on High and a few other games on high / ultra so no need to upgrade
5700x3d, 7800xt Honestly, everything on Ultra @ 1440p is ‘okay’. Still abysmal (70-75 frames), HOWEVER, When using the mouse to look e.g. behind me, it feels like the game runs on 20 fps. It’s like there a massive load of input lag.
This game really runs like ass. I've got a 5800X3D and a friggin 7900XTX, but I sometimes dip down below 60fps on 1440p. Meanwhile other titles easily run with 144fps - stable as can be.
i have Legion 5 pro laptop with i7 11800H /3070 and i almost get 60 fps at 1440p native scaling with most of the setting being low. I know this is a gaming laptops and laptops tend to have 25% less performance than thier desktop counterpart but the thing is i OC the gpu and i added like extra 500 on the core and literally nothing happend to my fps. Your setup is dramatically better than mine and i have no idea how a f*** 7900 XTX can't give at least 90 fps on 1440....
I don't want to say my fps number because i have a 1070 but your video did help a bit even without the lossless scaling. I've been waiting for the raytracing cards to get cheaper and now might be a good time to upgrade. I've heard something about new cards that use ai to create extra non rendered frames, not sure if these are out already. When i got the 1070gtx, rtx came out soon after and don't want to miss out on a new tech again.

Yeah I've been wanting for some new cards, I heard about that ai frame creation, I know AMD has a pretty bad version of it but their cards are Way cheaper so if you're on a budget look out for those. I've been looking at getting a 7900xt or gre but apparently the 5000 series might be coming soon so I night wait a little while more
how do you install the optimization mod from the link in the description i have the optimization downloaded but have no clue how to put it in my game or files
So once you download the optimization mod you should be able to open the zip and in it there's a .config file. I don't remember if it was titled user_settings.config but if it isn't, change it to that. Next, hit the Windows Key + R on your keyboard to bring up a search window, type %appdata% and hit enter. Now, you should be in a folder titled "Roaming" , look for a folder titled "Arrowhead", open it and then open "Helldivers2" and there, you should see a .config file. Rename that file to something like "backup.config" just so that you can have it saved as a backup, then drag the modded settings into the Helldivers2 folder and make sure it's named "user_settings.config" then you should have the new super low settings enabled! There might be an issue where your game loads up in 1920x1200, in which case, you can go into the .config file using a program like Notepad, and change "screen_resolution = 1920 1080" or whatever your monitor's resolution is. Lemme know if you need more help!

I'll be honest, I've noticed huge improvements in my game and I doubt it's the reason why but, after leaving the Helldivers 2 Discord and all other super active Discord servers. Now, I play with everything on low except for texture quality being set to high and async compute is off. I really don't know why, maybe they changed something in the most recent patch but I can actually experience decent fps now.
@@nomis377 it's an option in steam overlay. If you open it up and under settings there's an option called show fps and there's another option for high contrast color for fps. I'll get the exact names when I'm back on my PC

I used to be able to run the game not problem, but as more and more updates came out it became unplayable

I have same exact specs just a Ryzen 7 5700X3D and I can barely stay above 50fps on Level 10 Missions

2060 super here i only get max 60fps. Lowest i get are 26fps

You should probably get more fps with fullscreen rather than borderless window. This is just overall with all kind of games.
