- One year after AEW's most embarrassing night at Brawl Out, Tony Khan has FIRED CM Punk from All Elite Wrestling in a bombshell announcement. Solomonster has all the details that we know about, including Tony's claim that his life was put in danger by Punk's actions last weekend, what exactly is alleged to have happened backstage at Wembley Stadium, what sparked the incident with Jack Perry in the first place, how this situation could get even messier, why it was the right move to make and why a CM Punk return to WWE may not be as easy as some may think.

The biggest MVP in the All In situation was Samoa Joe who not only stayed calm and talked Punk down from just walking out from Wembley and then did the match with him putting him over. Massive respect to Joe.
ive always got that vibe of joe, seems like a real stand up guy who does the right thing, the fact that punk listened to him shows you how much respect they have and how far back they both go.

That’s exactly why Samoa Joe has a future guaranteed in wrestling after his in-ring career is over
@@user-vj9qz3br6l I think he could be a good commentator, kind of in the role Taz is currently having in AEW and had in WWE.
these incidents show who are the real leaders of the locker room. when the brawl out happened, it was mox, bryan and jericho who stepped up and keep the locker room together and focused. and now, joe has taken up that roll as well.
Brawl Out to Brawl In is the best long term storytelling in AEW history 😂

I think the funniest thing about this is Punk himself said in his WWE documentary back in 2012 I don't just burn bridges I blow them up and I guess he still lives by that.
It's very poetic and ironic
@@lancethefilmguy9392 that was the first thing I thought of when he got fired.
Non cookie cutter
Who would of thought he'd end up back with WWE and after a few months he would get hurt and be out for a somewhat long period of time
THANK YOU for bringing up the Kevin steen t shirt incident. I understand people siding with Punk, but when people say that these bad stories only came out after the brawl out incident are liars. Punk has had heat with countless wrestlers from TNA, ROH, AEW and WWE over the span of several decades and it has been public knowledge even before he was in WWE
What happened with him and KiLL Steen KiLL? I didn't start Watching ROH til 2011 when I gave up on WWE. So I missed out on Steen's early run.
Yeah, but you're trying to lean on a side that doesn't exist. We know there's plenty of performers that have had disagreements with punk or his attitude in a company in which I don't doubt he's rubbed some wrong, however, we also know no one has ever really had nothing but positive things to say about Phil brooks the person outside of the ring. Like we know the stories, but I think punks philosophy with the wrestling business clashes with a lot of other people's, but the crusade to crucify him as a person when we know there seems to be a clear distinction of the two is a bit misleading imo.
@CodenameRawTV except for all of the people who've had issues with him right? It's just everyone around him is far more professional to not talk shit about others. Note how booker t said he would've slapped the shit out of him. How many people who worked during the ECW years he was a part of that said he was a jerk. Just because you've been oblivious to the stories doesn't mean they don't exist.
@@paulghignon4092 Either you're dumb or you just freely choose to speak ignorantly while ignoring my comment. I'm not "oblivious" to any of his incidents I clearly and literally said "we all know about his prior incident" 😂🤦🏼♀️. Nonetheless, a lot of the people he's had these problems with are also problems themselves with other people and honestly this has just become a Punk witch hunt. He IS responsible for his actions and SHOULD be held accountable, but he shouldn't always be the only one lol. 90% of these he was the repondant too and whether he handled it wrong or not, someone did something wrong first to initiate it ** *cough... Great people outside the ring don't get into physical fights all the time, use homophobic slurs, lie to their friends, and ghost people in their friend circles for asking for a mutual friend's phone #.
Well done Tk for finding your balls and doing the right thing. Matbe now start being a boss and not a friend to the wrestler.
At least Kojima got that one elbow drop in before Punk got let go. A sorely needed lesson that Punk clearly didn't listen to.

Punk may not be a bad guy in real life. But he is a petty, thin skinned guy that carries an unpleasant aura about him. I'm starting to think that Kingston promo on him was more of a shoot. Honestly the Moxley one was likely a shoot as well. AEW is far from perfect, but it seems like it was a pretty stress free backstage atmosphere before Punk arrived.
The way they kept the Brodie Lee thing under wraps, took care of that family, and did that great tribute show is proof of that. I wish the Punk thing worked, and he was happy. But it all went downhill starting with the Hangman promo. Punk could never let that go. But honestly I just think it would have been something/someone else if Hangman didn't do that promo.
So long Mr. Brooks, I hope you, Larry, and April have a nice healthy life. It's not like you have to work like the rest of us schlubs.
And I hope AEW will be a thing in 3 years with its meaningless hardcore matches, half the talent being a bunch of bland gymnasts, and the EVPs caring more about playing with their friends than putting on a decent wrestling show.
No drama until Punk arrived huh, Two words “Britt Baker”
He is a bad guy in real life. People who physically assault their coworkers are bad people.
I hope they don't have a nice healthy life. I hope something bad happens to Phil and April, and Larry is taken in by a nice family.
What the hell is his problem? He needs therapy and medications. He's an angry pathetic man.
When Punk first returned, it was so pleasant to see him back after nearly a decade away from the ring. People were excited and famished to see him in the ring and on the mic. And, for a time, Punk delivered for AEW and the wrestling community. But, once he got injured, the first time, the wheels began to come off. His behavior seem erratic and almost like he felt like the it was him against the world.
Now, dont get me wrong, the Elite and Jack Perry do deserve some blame in the altercations, and deserve to be punished. But, Punk's behavior and actions did him in. Tk needed to do it to save the locker room and he felt to get his program back on track away from all the trash that Brawl Out and All In devised.
I do hope Punk gets some help and fix himself out. While ill still enjoy his work over the years, he, right now, is toxic and just gotta get his head together before he makes what could be his last move.
@@youtubebannedme4207 we all recognize that. Doesn't matter whon started it first. But, nevertheless, Punk was volatile and would splinter the locker room if kept going. But, we can't deny that Elite and Jack Perry were innocent in all of this.
Well said
If he didn’t seek help after WWE release him he won’t seek help after this. His group is nothing but yes man
@@ShootItALBY that maybe true. But, after this, I'm afraid he may not return to wrestling
He’s sadly never coming back to wrestling after this. I think he’s finished. It pains me to say that… because I too, absolutely liked the guy
I find it ironic that for such a supposedly straight edged guy, he seems to be completely lacking any impulse control over his own behaviour. He seems to not value his own mental health or that of others. His outbursts, violent displays and seeming paranoia are all symptoms of heavy drug users. As such I think he needs to look after his own mental health, not just his physical health. I would have fired him last year.
100% agree - Some of the most talented artists suffer mentally. Be it perfectionism, rumination (OCD) mood swings, paranoia and destructive outbursts (mania, bipolar, borderline personality disorder) or just self-sabotage and anger from generalized anxiety or depressive disorders, Punk CLEARLY has some shit going on. A lot of people do and there’s no shame; but to display it on such a huge stage/platform when you’re given the keys to the city, return only to display a pattern of the same manic, violent, paranoid behavior is just very sad to see.
Agreed. It seems like he has this issue that follows him that isn't resolved. Idk if it's bitterness, or it's him having a chip on his shoulder, which he shouldn't have. He's nearly 45, he's done more than anyone could dream of in their lifetime. He should've tried to enjoy each moment he had in the ring. It's a shame tho
Yeah, this is definitely indicative of a person who has been taking his mental health seriously at all. I’ve seen this behavior before and it can really mess up your entire life. The good news is that it’s not too late and if he were willing to humble himself and admit that he needs help he can get better. But with the illness he may have, it will be a tough road because he would have to deal out a lot of apologies AND be willing to understand that it’s okay if some folks don’t accept his apology.
I think of paranoia, ego, and the fear of father time got to Punk. Not to mention his displeasure of what the younger wrestlers in the locker room led to all of this.
i’m asking this with good intentions- are straight edge people “allowed” to take mood stabilizers or antipsychotic medication?
CM Punk's legacy is now being in the same conversation as guys like Ultimate Warrior or Shawn Michaels during the 90's when it comes to being the most toxic individuals backstage in wrestling history.
"Queering doesn't work!!" meets "You have a vagina!!"
The only difference is that neither Warrior nor HBK had the Smarks backing them up like they do with Punk.
@@lancethefilmguy9392Lol
@@lancethefilmguy9392 HBK also has way more talent then Punk.
Michaels cleaned himself up by the time he was in his 40s and has owned how bad of a person he used to be. Warrior owned his toxicity since day one and at least attempted to patch things up with everyone.
Punk refuses to do either.
I think with Punk that maybe TK wanted to make him an EVP eventually to fill the void left by Cody but then this happened with the constant backstage issues. Its like when someone gives you a new car and you crash it later. In all seriousness though
Cody knew the issues and escaped
Thats a great point!
No wonder he said the line2 im trying to sell tickes, fill arenas, run a buisness" and why he was basically in control of Collision
I’m focused on the fact that it wasn’t the Perry incident that got him canned. There’s even more that we haven’t been made aware of that the investigators found. This dude could’ve very well have been terrorizing people in the back for a long time.
He got fired for scaring Khan, Tony realized that when Punk is on one, that Punk doesn’t actually respect TK even though he was the boss, so he did what he did
It is a lot more than just scaring TK! They have evidence on video from Wembley! And you can't go around threatening the Boss or others. Punk was abusive at Brawl out in front of the cameras hate to think how abusive he was behind the cameras backstage!
@@robdurfee6861Tony has no respect for himself. He should have handled it instead of letting it play out like it did

I feared for my life just watching TK read the statement.
He came back and finished ruining his legacy smfh while some hardcore supporters will be upset and will stop watching but I think it’s a lot less people than it would have been a year ago. It’s not even about what Perry said it’s about Punks reaction, he thinks he comes off as tough but he’s just projecting insecurity.

Punk already buried the hatchet with HHH and The Miz when RAW was in Chicago earlier this year (before Collision was even announced), and I still think Rollins was just goofing around when he called him a “cancer”. Rollins is clearly in character during that interview, and also let’s not forget how people worked themselves into a shoot during his fake Twitter beef with Ospreay in 2019. The needs of the few outweigh the needs of CM Punk. I hate to say it, but just about every altercation at AEW, Punk was a part of it if not the instigator of them. Maybe MMA changed him somehow.
Nah, he's always been like this. He has historically caused problems pretty much everywhere he's worked because he's his own biggest fan and is apparently never satisfied with how hes treated. I think Punks problem was his trust issue and once it’s broken he never trust or look anyone the same again.
There are reports that when he got to London nobody was going to get him nor was a car ready so he had to find his way to the arena by fans and it seemed that set him off for the weekend and then Jack Perry did what he did and that made him explode.

The fact that he got injured, had surgery, recovered, go to theraphy, get in ring shape and on his first promo was to call out Hangman means he was beyond pissed and it was eating him inside and was more anxious to call out Hangman than to wrestle or have a nice program against Moxley

You can't just break into physical confrontation at the slightest provocation, and at the end of the day, if they have been antagonizing him, by reacting in that way, he's giving them exactly what they want.
Exactly, even if he's felt provoked backstage the way he's been acting in public just makes himself look like a clown. What the public knows for sure is just the tantrums he's been having
At this point I am starting to think Punk might have some sort of bipolar disorder or long term CTE.
I hope he pulls a Benoit.
I feel bad for his wife having to put up with his moody unhinged behavior. He needs to go see a shrink.
People like Punk will never admit they have a problem or submit themselves to therapy. In their mind, they're right and everyone else is wrong. As for AJ Mendez, she made her bed and now she can lay in it.@@jacksonjacob7791
@@James-if3kc That's not funny dude.

I think Phil Brooks needs drugs. Seriously, it's the lack of drugs ( prescription or otherwise ) that makes him like this.
Great wrestler and great promo I will give him props. But let's be clear he has so much anger built in him over who knows. He doesn't need to be in wrestling period.
Anger from getting his ass whooped on TV twice in the UFC probably. That's probably why he may feel like he has something to prove.
That is the dumbest comment I think I’ve read so far
CM Punk is a good example of be careful of what you wish for
Punk is angry cause he got his ass whooped on TV twice in a fast fashion. It's festered inside of him and now he's angry and takes it out on everyone backstage.
@@crystalwater505he needs people to think he's a tough guy and now tries to fight people are not trained shooters.
Exactly friend. It's sad and funny at the same time.@@jacksonjacob7791
Punk's AEW run is something I wish went soooooo much better than it actually did. 😔
Even AJ Styles said he doesn't want to work with CM Punk
Probably more we also don't know about. The miz for sure.
I remember after Punk had his mma fight with Gall the miz parodied him afterwards during a match in WWE missing a telegraphed punch like Punk did.
I think those 2 really don't like each other.
For everybody who wants to skip ahead to the heart of the story & when things really getting put into perspective for you, skip ahead to 11:19.
The ugly, but obvious truth is CM Punk is an egomaniacal narcissist with no anger management skills. Whatever skills he had at managing personal and business relationships have deserted him a long time ago. WWE clearly had good reason for not wanting him back, even though he would have been money and "best for business" for a while. At the time, I blamed Triple H for just holding a grudge. I also blamed Colt Cabana for his falling out with Punk, but now look at that situation with a much different perspective. In AEW Punk has acted like a petulant child with zero ability or desire to control his temper. It's likely the only reason he didn't act this way (as far as we know) while training for and competing in the UFC is that he was among legit fighters that would have turned him into stain on the floor if he got out of line. With the developments of the last few years adding perspective, I'm comfortable predicting that his marriage is the next relationship he sabotages within the next few years. I believe and hope this is the end of the line for him. He is pretty clearly not a good or stable guy.
AMEN! I also hope his marriage with AJ will be through. Can't believe it's lasted this long.
I feel bad for his wife having to put up with this nutcase.
This is the take I've been waiting for. I see others waiting for Cornette's take but I've followed his coverage of Punk and along the way he has always glossed over Punk and goes as far to say he has done "nothing wrong" and as far as "has never been a problem backstage" (LOL) and now says "the bad guys won". Totally exposing himself to be what Meltzer and others have been saying all along. That he's just a gimmick saying things to get a reaction just like any other worker. I listened to Cornette and I lasted about 5 minutes of his hour long take before I had to turn it off when you know for a fact that if Omega or Moxley for example acted the same way he'd be burying him hard.
It's funny that The Solomonster said what he did around 4:49-5:06 because there was an internet meme that I saw on Instagram/Facebook/both saying "AEW's discipline committee has finally been revealed!", or, something like that & it had a backstage picture of The Young Bucks, Kenny Omega & Adam "The Hangman" Page posing, together.
Exactly one year after the incident, the same incident occurred again and in a show called Brawl IN. Both being the biggest nights of the company at that time with Punk holding the world championship.
Law of attraction is real.
Darkside of the ring will have a field day with this
Darskide of the Ring is basically the show where AEW guys talk about how WWE is evil. They would never do an episode targeting the place where 75% of their talking heads are from
Nah, Jim Cornette will, and imagine if Punk appears on his podcast😂😂
@@philly_sports1558You never know.
For someone who's straight edge, he's pretty addicted to self sabotage. A pattern of fights during ppvs was starting to happen. He's like that miserable guy that feels like he has to bring shit to a parade because he cant get his own spirit up. Not being fake nice but c,mon just get through a show and pick your battles. He's too old for that behaivor. I agree that he's got deep anger issues. I can see it in his eyes. Retire and get therapy my man.
He seems to want everyone to think he's a real tough guy. And yes, he absolutely needs therapy. He seems incredibly insecure.
No matter what happens or whatever anyone says, Tony should get mad respect cause CM Punk was walking all over him and he put his foot down! It’s fine to be friends with your employees but you’re a boss first.
With a guy like cm punk I wouldn't even attempt a sit down with him I'd just move on and not work with the guy why waste time fixing one problem when he can't stay out of his own way
Please correct me if I'm wrong, didn't Punk end a friendship with Hornswoggle because Hornswoggle asked him for a mutual friend's phone number? Unless there's much more to that story, that doesn't seem like the action of a mentally healthy individual.
Yep. Some say it was AJ because they were friends before she married Punk. But that's speculation
AJ is a mentally ill little tw@t. Must be why she's married to Phil.@@lancethefilmguy9392
Honestly as CM Punk fan I feel like it was only a matter of time this would happen after I heard that there was no resolution regarding Brawl Out. If it's one thing that is consistent with CM Punk is his bad temper towards people he has issues with.
My god Jason I’d start a podcast but there’s no need, you constantly say everything I would want to say. Great work.
While I will give SOME credit to TK for having this thing called a spine by firing Punk, I feel as if something is missing here. There's always two sides to a story, the whole "I feared for my life" bit seems a bit off. Even if it was true, we are still missing something. Not to mention it's not like the AEW locker room still ain't toxic. Look at what happened with the whole Britt Baker/Thunder Rosa situation did that ever get fixed? Nope. What about the whole Andrade/Sammy situation? Or Sammy/Eddie Kingston situation? We all know why Jack Perry didn't get fired cause The Elite might flip their lid one of the OG's got fired over this. So while TK may of done the right thing here, that locker room still sounds as if it's cancerous. Also let's not forget, how ironic the second Punk gets fired the Elite (you know the so called EVP's of the company) show up on "Punk's show" and then ended up doing victory laps cause the guy they hated that much got fired. Now should be noted, I don't care for the Elite or Punk for that matter , but let's call a spade a spade here.
At least Britt and Rosa weren't starting fights with each other every week
The question is how long did those fights lasted? A couple of months or a year?
Punk is damaged goods. And I doubt with this new merger that WWE would want to risk having him.
There's something wrong with this guys brain. He needs meds or therapy of some kind. He's always going around swinging his dick around trying to prove to everyone what a tough guy he is and just seems like a jerk off. WWE doesn't want this headache. He's a liability and should have been arrested for assault.
Never say never.
Of course they will. This is entertainment Wrestling not the NFL. Punk is still money.
@@lilmissdangerous2267 Punk is going on 45 and past his prime. They don't need him and he was never a money maker like Hogan, Austin, The Rock or Savage.
Dark side of the ring episode of CM Punk in the future. I'm telling ya. The writing is on the wall.
Might be a 2 part episode
The altercations with Punk reminds me of that promo segment between The Miz & Enzo Amore, CM Punk doesn’t know how to keep quiet and not get himself into these type of situations. I don’t want to see him go but I was already on the fence with Punk and he needs to control his temper. I somewhat feel bad for Tony Khan because this is the second time he has to revitalize and patch things up for AEW since the media scrum at All Out 2022 which literally almost killed the company
Very disappointed 😞 as much as WWE screwed him over, it seems the likes of Triple H, Vince, Nash etc were right about this guy. Felt like I wasted my money buying his t shirt on his AEW debut
Me too 😔 me and my girlfriend bought one and now we don’t want it
Hey man don't feel bad, CM Punk like all of us is a flawed human being but he didn't like kill anyone, he'll be an excellent wrester. You can be a fan of the wrestler and separate his work from is issues, unless this whole saga pushed you to not be a fan anymore, then understandable.
Yeah Tony did what was best I ain't letting him go this is only the beginning of aew healing hopefully no more drama they get to focus aew going back to what they are known for being the alternative they were popular without Punk they going to be better and stronger without him
Nash has stated a bunch of times that he likes Phil and that he’s a draw/interesting/good on the mic when compared to modern workers. And doesn’t blame Punk for their program not working out, etc. I’ve usually only heard positives on Nash’s podcast - with the exception of how Punk and the elite (as EVPs) were liabilities. And that Tony handled a lot wrong last year
@@johnbeal6114felt like overkill with the roster they already have. Realized soon that he only joined when they were established and didn't want to take the risk w everyone.
CM Punk is his own worst enemy. Regardless of whether you think people are playing games with him or not, his own behavior doesn't do himself any favors.
That last parting shot of your video is so accurate and truthful, what a shame... smh
Congratulations on so many views. This is a really good take, Solo
I think this happens even if the Hangman stuff or All Out didn't happen.
How many backstage brawls has Sammy G been in, yet he still has a job
I don’t know if Punk really feels bad about all of this. I wouldn’t be surprised if his ego prevents him from feeling shame or embarrassment from it but it should. This is very embarrassing situation he’s gotten himself into. And WWE should not just let Punk back. That wouldn’t be very smart. The situation is vert fresh and it needs to cool down. And honestly he shouldn’t go back to the WWE. Like Solomonster said, Punk has a lot of people in WWE that doesn’t like him. Almost of the people in AEW he had beef with are friends some of the wrestlers in WWE. Punk needs to stay away from the public eye and get his shit together before he works with anybody again.
Let's see the videotape of the incident.
If Punk was kind of an "EVP" so then the argument of "It doesn't matter who started the fight, The Elite were wrong for confronting (with a lawyer but no one wants to talk about that) Punk post scrum because of their status as EVPs", is now a moot point because Punk had similar powers...
..Another thing I want to bring up, and this is something that needs to be discussed more often, is that CM Punk may have played a role in Cody's departure from AEW. Before Punk came along, Cody was the one who was in Tony's ear the most (aside from maybe Jericho) and when Punk arrived, I began hearing that Cody was slowly losing some of his EVP powers. I am speculating...but look at who benefited the most when Cody left. The Elite and Jericho were, and currently are, in the exact same position that they were in, prior and after Cody's departure. However, Punk was not only making more money than the EVPs, but he began assuming more executive roles, eventually resulting in Cody being phased out, and later leaving the company. If you include this with Punk's very orchestrated media scrum, it really seems to be that Phil wanted all The Elite out of his way.
This is why you never put active wrestlers in high positions or give power. This is what you get...
That second part is wrong. Cody himself said his leaving had nothing to do with Punk and that they have no beef with one another.
the only person Phil brooks has to blame for his AEW termination is Phil brooks. no exceptions & no excuses.
I'll never forget in Hornswoggle's shoot interview him talking about how he lost Punk as a friend. I don't remember the details, but it was something trivial that completely blew everything up.
1:30 oh wow John Moxley's promo is just perfect for the situation
If mjf goes to wwe
That will be another blow
In retrospect, I now understand why WWE treated him like crap. I sympathized with his WWE issues and his venting in the Cabana podcast. But now that the pattern has been revealed during his AEW run, it’s obvious that he is just not a people person and he his easily triggered. He rubs people off the wrong way. He doesn’t know how to handle negativity in a professional manner. Really hope he seeks therapy because he needs to control his trust and anger issues.
If Punk wants to continue wrestling, his only logical choice is NJPW.
Well put and spot on. You've earned a new subscriber. Great take.

Love the programmed statement by Tony.
"My and my decision alone....."
"It was an unanimous decision by a discipline board."

We had worse happen in my time as a Marine, but 'let them fight' isn't a thing with 'wrestlers" these days.
It was a unanimous recommendation, but ultimately it was Tony Khan who had the final say in the decision.
It's not that complicated.
This is the best podcast I've heard on the CM Punk issue. Subscribed and liked!
I never thought that after Punk's return in 2021 that it would lead to this. I hope that both parties can strengthen out and learn from this so they can have a better future.
