I just came back from el Zonte, I spent 3 days there. Even though it’s bitcoin beach cash is still king. El Zonte is super small but the beach is amazing. The surfing is pretty good (I don’t surf) I stated at La Punta Hostal in one of the cabanas.

Hey Chris, El Tunco sounds great! I can't wait to see your other videos in this place. I guess you were out and about early for this one, almost no one on the street. There seems to be an imbalance in costs, for instance you can get a breakfast or lunch for $3, but surf lessons cost $25.... That seems too much. Have fun Chris!

So it was about 8 am, the reason why the town is so slow is because it is the week after Semana Santa, the most important holiday in the country!
Most of the locals take this week off and many tourists have left! ☺️

I think the rock beaches wont create a huge demand like we saw overnight in Tulum. $35 for a 30 minute Uber ride is about 4-5 times the price in Mexico. Having the currency in dollars makes everything more expensive than the most Latin American countries.
El tunco is not for swimming but mostly surfing, but there are plenty of sand beaches close by such as atami, Costa del sol, Los cobanos, San Blas etc to name a few

I personally wouldn't because its just best to be driven around by people who know the country! Plus rental cars in this region are always shady, my "$400" a week car rental in Guatemala for example turned into a $1,200 rental because when I arrived they said in order to leave you need to purchase this and this..... horrible experience

C'mon Chris.. paddle out & catch a few. Only one reason to be in El Tunco. Does it still smell like poo? The waves, however are epic & there is a nice hostel there at the point. Also 3 for $1 papusas over there on the road.

The economy is not somewhat stable, its a disaster. Also the dollar has only worsened the economy, in particular for the poor people which is the majority of the population. The president has done many good things for the population but its not easy since he took over a sinking ship. Although its worth noting that most of the good things he's done has been financed with loans. That is not sustainable in the long run.
The country must begin to produce and generate money. Tourism like you are doing, is one way of making this happen.
