  • Harriette Thompson just made history by becoming the oldest woman to ever finish a marathon. Since 1999, she has run the San Diego's Rock 'n' Roll Marathon 16 times and raised $100,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Mark Strassmann sits down with Thompson to discuss her running inspiration.

Heck even if she is 70 this would be highly respectable. Salute.

    She is soooooooooo active
I started running to cure my lungs (bleeding due to smoking)
Today my lungs are fit as children's lungs and i became a marathon runner also.
Now i am not looking back
I am fit 100% and i can say only one thing that long distance running saved my life and it wl definitely save yours too even if u r fit...

      @@manichairdo6346 today i am 29
I quit smoking when i was 26(i.e 3 years back)
But your question is how i quit?
And ans is fear of death/cancer made me do so.. because my lungs was bleeding coz of B.vascular marking but i thought this is sign of cancer... For one or two days i watched videos and googled stuff of cancer survivor n all.. and i got my answer.. that... Only running can cure lungs... So after 3 days of that bleeding i started running with pain in my lungs and for one month that pain was running with me in my lungs... But after that it was gone for ever (i can say after 30-40 days of continues 10k running).. i went for scanning my lungs, this time reports were normal and there was no pain either... But i continued my running... Because i was some where thinking that this is my body and i cant take a risk of any cancer cell remaining... But thank to god it was not cancer... It was just n infection because of delhi pollution and cigarette boxes(approx 3) daily, i was having.... So after that i never looked back.. today evng also i ran 10.5 kms.. i have increased my speed.. improved my health.. i am fittest person in my whole family n frnds.. n over all I AM A LOT HAPPY .... I hope this 100% true explanation can help u little...

@@manichairdo6346 and yes,may b u want to know.. how long i smoked.. means for how many years..
Ans is 7-8 years non stop.. every single day n ngt.. and in winters i usually double my consumption... But I don't want to recall that life now.. waste of money and waste of life it was...
Running is not a gift.. it is a therapy n a miracle for every human who do it ....
