My grandmother who died at 103 walked five to six miles a day, cooked her own food, looked after her chickens and cared for her 101 year old husband. She died of a broken heart a couple of weeks after he died. None of them was sick or in hospital. They exercised, ate well, enjoyed the sun and their peace of mind. Look after your nutrition, exercise well, and you'll be fine.

My uncle was always a daily walker as a younger man, but never was a super athlete. He used to smoke, but quit 30 years ago. He had a double bypass about ten years ago. He’s now 89, works out for two hours, five days a week at a gym!! He was recently widowed and said he just had to keep busy during the pandemic. I’m in my fifties, and I’m so inspired by him! He’s feeling better all the time as he keeps it up. Wow.😄☺️. Isn’t that nice to hear? We can control so much by never giving up. I used to dance several hours daily, after work. I currently have chronic illness for 30 years, but am aiming to get better and dance, bike and so much more, again! We can all do better for ourselves with just a little more love to ourselves everyday! Don’t ever give up. We can all do it!!!😃🥰

"you've got to LOVE what you do" and everyone is clapping, but no one is actually loving what they're doing... y'all need to stop praising each other for saying things that resonate with your truth and start acting on them, because it's a lot of work and practice to truly love something geniunely, it doesn't just happen one day, and she didn't say I woke up one day and loevd what I was doing, she said she was a dancer for 50 years !! then took a break and then picked it up again and now at 96 she's saying "love what you do !" and I believe her, you have to love something that much to be bothered to do anything at that age !! even the fittest people eventually do just give up and let themselves go because forcing yourself to do stuff won't last you very long ! so you need to learn how to love doing what you're doing if you want to keep doing it ! so simple, yet so obviously that we specifically forget to practice exactly this part and end up giving up and then finding a million excuses for it .But the glue just faded away because we didn't invest in our love and appreciation and gratitude for what we're doing . We might say " I stopped loving this", even though rarely are people that honest, but no one would ever say "I've decided to stop loving dancing!" even though they kinda did..

It turns out she passed away two years ago. Very inspiring. It’s weird though how humans seem to have a time limit about the same. She lived longer than most and super active, you would think she had 10 to 20 years left though. But as we approach 100, even the healthiest and strongest seem to reach the limit. Reaching 110 is 1 in over 100 million , literally. So this woman is amazing but it seems we all play our part, take a bow, and then exist the stage.

I'm 82+ and about 5 years ago I sat down in my recliner and I have hardly moved. I know I'm killing myself. One morning, after a shower without thinking, I got down on my knees to scrub out the tub. Then I realized I wasn't going to get back on my feet. So stark-naked I had to crawl and butt-scoot into the living room and pull myself up on my recliner. I didn't have the muscle strength to get back on my feet. Have I done anything to rectify that? Of course not. I think I will watch this video every morning for inspiration. We don't wear out we rust out.

She is utterly amazing. One thing I will disagree with is that you don't have to love what you do. Our entire lives are filled with doing things we don't love doing, but we do regardless because they need to get done. What you do have to love is yourself, your health and your fitness enough to do them despite maybe not loving doing what is required to achieving them optimally. I've trained in the gym for 45 of my 58 years and have learned that even though I love working out there are MANY days I don't love it. It hurts and it is tiring and I am tired going in often times. I do it despite my feelings because I love being fit more than I do being unfit. If we only engaged in activities we loved, then most of us would never engage. Nonetheless, this woman is a marvel to behold. I hope I'm still upright at 96.

I couldn't either, until after I started yoga. Today I'm a yoga instructor. That's how much of a difference it made to me.

      38. I was bedridden still at 36. I started with Alexander technique, then qi gong and yoga. Ive corrected the alignment of my bones and grown 2 inches. I couldnt lift my right arm above my head straight. i was in constant pain from poor posture my whole life too.
I have not been this flexible and painfree since i was 22ish.
My nan did a bit of part time yoga intruction. in her 90s, she needs no aids within the house. Its never too late to reap the benefits

@@kimwarburton8490 Totally agree! It made me so happy to read your story. :D I have shared yoga with an elderly family member. We practice regularly together and she was born in 1935. It's been 6 months now. She can keep her hands over her head now no need for a cane, in or out of the house. She can touch the ground in forward fold with her palms flat on the ground and loves the warrior 1 and 2 poses now after hating them the first two months. Her stamina and breathing are so much better so now every day she can walk around the block without an effort. She has regained interest in other things too. Part of that may be because of something sjhje described to me: "it removed the veil of confusion and frustration" from her.
So now she learned how to operate her computer, the web browser, email, spreadsheets, email and has taken on an interest in streaming media.
After our yoga sessions she has asked me to install Netscape, RUclips, Hulu and Crackle. She points to articles she has read about streaming media and about yoga and wait for it: She tells me when _my_ posture is off!! lol So, something must be working!!
Oh, also, she can get up and down from the floor without problems too, so there will be no need for that "I can't get up" device. lol
To me this is beautiful! She seems very grateful of this too now too.

@@fanfare100 such fast progress! amazing! thankyou for sharing this. Im familiar with that 'veil of confusion and frustration' Its often called 'brainfog' to me its like english was as strenuous as a foreign language, my cognitions were so bad, i couldnt form sentences XD The 1st descriptor is you feel as if you are putting as much mental effort into the instinctive stuff as if you were while driving through fog vrs a sunny clear day.
Anti-inflammatory paleo diet in keto macros did me the world of good. stopped me being bedridden.
I imagine her lymph system n brain is cleaning out the waste products better, that shes getting better quality of sleep too. Its amazing what small steps done consistently over time can compound n bring forth some beautiful rewards.
Whats most teling is that shes no longer avoiding the 'new' technologies. my nan is. shes given a few half-hearted attempts, but she doesnt practice, so she forgets by our next visit. weekly was the most frequent we could physicaly share space to teach her pre covid XD

    • @fanfare100
      @fanfare100 3 года назад +5

@@kimwarburton8490 You describe it very well. We practice weekly but she resisted terribly for 3 years. She even once ordered me to never mention it. But one day when she was visibly going down hill she asked me in frustration if she could do anything about it and that's when she decided to give it a try. She met it with quite some scepticism at first but became more amenable once she started to see undeniable results.
She had gotten to the point where she had lost interest in a lot of things but now she is inquisitive once more and back at reading books and pursuing new things. That's always a good sign. Now hat she's gotten her shots she wants to go to the farmer's market once more and take walks outdoors and in nature. She's become more inquisitive and dresses as though she cares once more. It's been quite the transformation. I do believe, like you said, her toxins are at a better level and her cardiovascular system is improving. And, like you said, she is indeed getting better quality sleep. She said that before she used to just lie there staring at the ceiling and worry but now she is much calmer. Oh, and, lol, she doesn't give me as much guff about new challenging flows or poses because she remembers how she used to give me guff a few months ago and now she's fine with those. lol It truly makes a world of a difference. It's as though we're turning back the hands o time. That sparkle and her ability to crack a quick joke is back. Gotta love it! I incorporate lots of balance poses which have greatly improved coordination, but also stuff like decisioning and planning. I can't say enough.
