Probably the big nerf bat was because they feared how much he could do with V-Shift. Justifiable or not, I don't know. We'll see, maybe. Unless there's no Sim players left to colect data
I honestly just want a fair balance. I hate Sim but I also think it's just trash to only want things that benefit you personally, the whole point of a fg is to test your skills. Having characters like Sim get unfairly nerfed really make winning against him less rewarding and motivating. Really makes character loyalty not an option too. And a big part of fg design is match ups, there's bad match ups and good match ups. You're not supposed to be able to play every character and do good against Sim, character variety in fgs is supposed to encourage counter picking for bad match ups, but these nerfs only make it so the match ups he does well against less favorable for him which is really unfair considering he's highly technical and not top tier.

V Shift inherently buffs neutral based chars and inherently nerfs rushdown chars. They did this to maintain a similar balance to what they had before. Time will tell if these nerfs were deserved or not
I could bitch all day about how certain characters got unfair nerfs. But I'mma let this one play out and see how Vshift benefits him first before I make up my mind that Capcom doesn't know what they're doing. So far though the verdict is Vshift isn't gonna benefit him, I'm seeing tons of players create vshift option selects, effectively negating the benefit of vshifts. So far Capcom is either gonna need to buff Vshift or characters like Sim, but we'll see.
Cool, what about dhalsim from sf2 - sfa- sf 4 cause i stuck with him through all varations bruh. Dhalsims playstyle is very footsie heavy cause you have to be confident and more precise with your normals than most characters, since if you whiff and give the opponent an opening it could lead to near ko. He also has no normals that can chain more than 2 hits (except for his back hp if you get all hits which is 3) so yea, just learn to whiff punish his limbs more, you can hit them when he is retrieveing them back. Theres not even that many pro dhalsim players either. What characters do you play as btw?
Everyone underestimated how much vshift would hurt offensive and help defensive characters. Additionally the game is so balanced that the most extreme designed characters have most of the remaining imbalanced matchups. Dhalsim had a lot of 6-4s that basically weren't addressed prior to the patch because the buffs and nerfs focused on more general character strengths rather than hyper specific matchup stuff. That all being said I think people overstate the imbalance issues of sfv including Luke and Sim.
I think so but the change to his cr. HP having more "oki" was probably to mitigate that. Factoring cr. HP's upper body invincibility and Gief's height, you probably have to hit both at about the same time when antiairing anyway lol. Gief's not suffering for good anti airs though, lariat covers a lot of bases.
