- welcome ladies and gentleman today we are playing the fantastically classic RTS game that is Command And Conquer generals zero hour or C&C generals for those who like short names. This game is of course perfectly balanced with no exploits. However the unlimited super weapons can be seen as a dampener on this games balance. Thanks to a set of balance patches and glitches a fantastic exploit was discovered. Basically you can force fire the late game super weapons which can tip the entire game in one players favour. This allows super efficient players to pull off a victory within the first few minuets of the game with few problems. Because of that I imagine not many of you would say Command and Conquer Generals IS A PERFECTLY BALANCED GAME WITH NO EXPLOITS especially when you consider the unlimited nukes and super weapons glitches.This grand strategy real time game was originally released in 2003 making it 16 years old.

Edit: and also, the use of SCUDs and anthrax, as well as the accent of the characters, is a very clear indication that the GLA are meant to be Islamic extremists.

We don't have Remastered version, sadly but:
* There is one interesting project "GenTool" - it fixes bugs, unlocks FPS and higher resolution.
* You may download HD models from "Project Raptor" (if I'm not mistaken)
* There is also a "Enhanced mod" - it tries to enhance the graphics.
And yes - Generals works perfectly on modern Windows (with some small manipulations)!
Tested on Windows 10 x64 PRO (1909 build 10.0.18363.752)
Hope it becomes real one day, but not made by EA

Thers a new mod for generals called generals evolution it completely remade the entire game to the red alert 3 engine
I am speechless, I play this game religiously and never knew this exploit.
Its not even an exploit when you set up skirmish matches there's an option called limit super weapons that he didnt click and when that's not clicked you can build as many as you want the exploit is a thing but in this case he didnt actually have to do it

@@vinvin3791 you can pre select units to put on hot keys. But that's not I was saying. The way he did what he did in the video wasnt an exploit. That exploit was for online play only

I first thought "Is this really C&C Generals?" then i remembered its censored in germany with the units being replaced by cyborgs and the suicide unit being a barrel with wheels

Things get crazier when you install mods. Call in the GLA bomber to ram into the ground amidst enemy units, or use white phosphorous to make mockery of the Geneva convention. Plus you also get blood and gore, and dismembered limbs flying around. I love this game!!!

So basically the world peace will be gained by giving everyone .50 cals? nobody could shoot each other.
Shockwave mod takes it even further. China has massive amounts of napalm/radiation weaponry, GLA has absolute piles of bioweapons and occasionally white phosphorus, and America has a microwave tank that burns nearby infantry to death.

Zero Hour was really fun, the generals challenge mode was cool, each enemy general having a map that fit their thematic play style and stuff

oh, so just like literally every generals challenge and campaign mission I've ever played...oh, looks like there's one single power plant left. It would be a shame if all 25 of my nukes, 50 migs, 100 inferno cannons, 200 nuke cannons, and 250 overlords all fired at the exact same spot, all at once, causing an area of the map to be completely unhospitable for the next 1,000,000,000,000 years! :)

Spiff, the frame-rate is tied to game-speed, which is probably why it feels like it can't run over 24 frames per second.

This is my favourite c&c game. It was an absolute nightmare to get working at LAN, but we had so much fun when we got it going in the end.
Same, I've had to get this game working on windows 10, easy once you've done it a few times, but pretty difficult the first few times.
My brother and i play it daily to this day, its love!
I remember back when c&c red alert 3 came out one of the few cool things ea has ever done is push the competitive scene for the game REALLY hard and give the scene tons of support to the point of broadcasting matches and tournaments on their official website even having a show called “command school” where they talked about game strategies. Super cool stuff imo

@@aymanayad7230 loudout is modular but standard is 2 Vulcan miniguns a 25 mm auto (before 1994 it was 2 20mm) and a m105mm howitzer

@@aymanayad7230 its actually quite a bit more most of the time the main cannon of an IFV is a 25-30 mm chaingun or auto cannon with 2 or 3 medium or heavy machine guns and usually a rocket pod(based of the bradley because biggest loadout), the 105 is what they used on the original M1A1 main battle tank so it is actually basically a tank cannon, an IFV cannon, and two miniguns
I know I'm a couple years late Spiff but assuming this exploit works the same now as it did originally (back in Generals then migrated to ZH) you don't actually have to finish building the scud launcher to fire it. Seriously, even if it's under construction it should still shoot with this exploit.

I played the hell out of this game when I was a child. If I remember correctly, units could level up. I would level up a few units and make them a squad and pretend they were doing spec ops missions, while I sent my untrained units to their death lol
Game: "Oh, there is a Chinook that transports an Abrams tank... normally, I would NOT allow it to fire at the enemy while inside the Chinook - BUT SINCE THERE'S a soldier riding along AS WELL, I think I can allow the poor tank to fire at the enemy while onboard the Chinook because it would become depressed because the soldier can shoot out of the Chinook and it could NOT."

You can take it to the next level and load in two Humvees occupied by five soldiers each and an extra two soldiers outside the vehicles iirc

@@markae0 nah it works fine with any faction's vehicles so long as said vehicles can be carried by a combat chinook
You don't have to be the airborne general you just have to own one of Granger's supply centers
@@markae0 it only works with Granger's Chinooks because those are Combat Chinooks which allow units to fire where Regular Chinooks have no firing ports.

When I played GLA, my main faction, I would place a sniper outside my friend's bunker. Never knew why he didn't have units. I would also get the sniper to jack on of his builders and build another stealth base and use "his" units to atack him. Worked lile a charm every time.

I just love the pictures that pop up during a Spiffing video. I like to think they're tea drinkers who volunteered to provide pics of 'emotes' specifically designed to set the tone for Spiff (and no one else). They really do capture certain feelings. Fantastic!

Dumb robot replacements and green (or no) blood were par for the course for the longest time. Tiberium Wars afterwards had the "suicide" bombers simply retreat off screen after exploding ...

I was introduced to C&C by my brother when he brought home Tiberian Sun. Sadly that game ruined me and don't find any of the other C&C games as fun, not saying they're bad though.

The GLA mission intros are THE BEST ones ever! Brutally satirical! The whole game delivered such a devestating political message that many entertainment companies are afraid to do nowadays.

Man, these are solid masterpieces, I play to this day with my brother, just played yesterday!
I grew up on Command & Conquer! I've played every game in the series, (Even the FPS literally based around one, single unit in the first game) - from the original all the way up to Generals: Zero Hour. When they began to bring back the series with Red Alert 3 and Tiberium Wars 4 however, I did sort of fall out of love with the franchise. The best thing about that era was seeing "Nature Boy" Ric Flaire beat up a Russian bear in the commercials.

C & C Generals is one of the best games!
The Chinook glitch is what let me cheese the American campaign. I discovered it about 3 levels in, then never stopped.
Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour is one of the few video games of my childhood that i keep coming back to other than of course Rome Total War.
Steps to play thus game;
Acquire the game CDs.
Buy a CD drive.
Install the game.
Encounter a serious error.
Change the properties file in the documents.
Encounter another serious error.
Install the no CD patch.
Encounter another serious error.
Eventually fix it.
Alternatively, you can sell your soul and get Origin, which lets you buy the entire series for $20.
You can play the newer titles, and via black magic occasionally even run RA2
I have a simpler solution:
* Download a Repack of Zero Hour
* Install it
* Download a Documents folder for Zero Hour (game sometimes couldn't create it itself on new systems)
* In Compartability tab of Properties set "Run as Administrator" and "Compartable with Windows XP SP2"
* Play!
If game still could start - delete file "dbghelp.dll" from game directory.
If you want more bugfixes, better resolution and unlocked framerate - google "Zero Hour GenTool".

Oh man, it's like high school all over again. I spent so many afternoons playing Red Alert 2: Yuri's revenge.
Generals was so much fun. One of my favourite things was kitting Humvees with TOW missiles, 3 snipers and 2 infantry with grenades. A few of these bad boys and you'll pretty much take out any threat. Snipers one shot kill all infantry, TOW for vehicles and grenades to clear buildings

I will never understand the algorithms, was watching Jethild's Steel Talons from the Tiberium universe and the thumbnails include a Generals' video from over a year ago. I'm not that familiar with Generals, but I'm all for supporting RTS games and it's a cool video so I subscribed. 👍🏻

Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars is my favorite. It's still really fun everyone should check it out
great game but the aliens go super-power on you pretty quick. they're fun to play as though. it's also really resource intensive for a RTS game, which can be annoying. I always love Nod, even if they suck...they get the cool stuff XD

I think only Red alert 1 and the original CnC games have trouble on it but I might be misremembering. It does suck that whatever changed caused problems. You can find patches if you do enough searching
