C&C Generals aged like fine wine, I appreciate this game and its scarily prescient premise and over the top presentation more today than I did back when it came out. The entire game is a meme now, it's beautiful.

And now that generals evolution is out, it really is amazing how it came back. Command and conquer is my childhood, and I really miss games like this. God, I love this goofy-ass game. I get the same laughs from it that I get from Postal 2. Very 2000s, very offensive to current year sensibilities, except in Generals, it's almost like they were completely serious, which makes it so much goddamn funnier.
I don't know why China banned this, the canon ending is we have to have social credits. If I were Xi Jingping, I'd give you 9000 social credits for this.

FINALLY YOU MADE IT! When I was 12-13 yo in 2012, my secondary high school offered a small Acer laptop with Ubuntu. A day, a class mate managed to install Windows 7 on it, and while they were all playing Minecraft and stuff, I was discovering C&C Generals, its Zero Hour addon and of course some mods like Shockwave and Rise of the Reds! Maybe a day EA will understand we don't want a Generals 2, but a remaster with next-gen RTS engine. You can't imagine how nostalgic I feel while watching this. Thank you so much!

I used to be called Al Qaeda as a kid. I loved playing GLA and using underhanded and sneaky tactics. Tunnels, suicide bombers, rocket buggies and battle buses were a joy to use. 😂😂
When I was a kid, I wanted to have a badge with a GLA logo printed on it but my pa said "no you can't they're terrorists" and I got real sad because I really loved those dudes. A few months later, my pa installed Zero Hour, and I became a Dr Thrax main since then. Turning people into different colors while they scream in agony is hilarious! Edit: a few years later, my pa finally let me have Dr Thrax's picture printed on my nametag. He also bought me n my bro some shemaghs. I can still see the shocked faces of the people in school when we wore it and started yelling.

I would even build in front and around the enemy base to prevent them from expanding so they can't do anything lol. This is even worse for US and Chinese Generals because they need space to build power plants, money making buildings and space to park their troops and vehicles. Everything hemmed in can be destroyed by one anthrax bomb or a scud storm 😂

The online playerbase for this game still exists and this amazes me quite a bit. Every year there is a world tournament with a few hundred dollars in prize money for the top pro players who win. Though the community is extremely toxic and mostly composed of middle eastern and european players it still is very fun to play to this day.
I've been thinking about getting into the multiplayer scene but everything I see of the community kind of turns me off. At least there are some good casters
I remember playing this LANN with my Libyan friend in college, he talked about how him and his friends literally got it pirated from a Shady Pawnshop, it was in Russian so they couldn't understand anything being said, so they never picked up on the parody nature of it and just thought the GLA was the based Middle East faction and couldn't believe an American company during the Iraq War made the GLA seem so cool and strong.

The base game was released Months before the Invasion of Iraq so it had to be in the development pipeline for a good long while.

Homeworld is on my meme list. I have 168 games in my Steam library and few games on other platforms. I think there will be over 200 of them.

The GLA were easily the coolest faction. Considering the Gaza Strip and Afghanistan this game has aged even better.

When I was a kid, I wanted to have a badge with a GLA logo printed on it but my pa said "no you can't they're terrorists" and I got real sad because I really loved those dudes. A few months later, my pa installed Zero Hour, and I became a Dr Thrax main since then.

Edit: a few years later, my pa finally let me have Dr Thrax's picture printed on my nametag. He also bought me n my bro some shemaghs. I can still see the shocked faces of the people in school when we wore it and started yelling.

@@vaskevukas7364 exactly. I just occupy everything and build everywhere. Mines, stinger sites and tunnels everywhere. I would even build in front and around the enemy base to prevent them from expanding so they can't do anything lol. This is even worse for US and Chinese Generals because they need space to build power plants, money making buildings and space to park their troops and vehicles. Everything hemmed in can be destroyed by one anthrax bomb or a scud storm 😂
@@interruptingcow2418 or perhaps if thay are close enough u can tank the enemy defences and at the back set a scud launcher truck, u know that like truck that got 1 big rocket at the back. Or my favorite, people would pick China sometimes only cose thay can clear buildings in a sec, but in zh, toxin terrorists can do it to, every troop...

The online playerbase for this game still exists and this amazes me quite a bit. Every year there is a world tournament with a few hundred dollars in prize money for the top pro players who win. Though the community is extremely toxic and mostly composed of middle eastern and european players it still is very fun to play to this day.
I've been thinking about getting into the multiplayer scene but everything I see of the community kind of turns me off. At least there are some good casters

I remember playing this LANN with my Libyan friend in college, he talked about how him and his friends literally got it pirated from a Shady Pawnshop, it was in Russian so they couldn't understand anything being said, so they never picked up on the parody nature of it and just thought the GLA was the based Middle East faction and couldn't believe an American company during the Iraq War made the GLA seem so cool and strong.
