- About seven years since it entered full production, Final Fantasy 16 is here. Is it worth the wait? Absolutely.
Incredible production values, from the visual fidelity and aesthetics to the voice acting and music, are only the start. Final Fantasy 16 boasts a detailed world to explore, full of memorable characters and storylines, and backed by some of the best combat ever.
Above all else, it's a beautiful realization of the genre as a whole, a staggering accomplishment in the world of games, and a must-play for genre fans.

@@MFobesdead space remake, resident evil 4 remake, tears of the kingdom absolutely smashed it and has a very chance for GOtY.
Street Fighter was great and we still have some excellent games coming out like Starfield.
Idk but I’ve been extremely disappointed w my ps5 so far. Other then remakes the only games I have enjoyed recently were elden ring and god of war. Just bought this one today hopefully not another let down. I’m tired of remakes and Dying light 2 was a MAJOR let down
@@228pf So, how is it your PS5's/Sony's fault that you're not enjoying 3rd party games. Every game you listed here can be played on XBX as well except for one and it was one of the ones that you said you liked. I haven't been disappointed with the PS5 at all. Returnal, Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart, Demon Souls, Horizon Forbidden West and its DLC (Which has the best looking graphics that I've ever seen on a console), Miles Morales, and I could go on and on ad nauseam. I'd suggest that you play those games. This one is also a banger.
I'm sorry that you've been disappointed, but if you didn't like the games you mentioned, except for GoW:R, you wouldn't have liked them on any other platform either. All in all, when considering it's exclusives and the third party games that are available on multiple platforms, the PS5 is probably the best current gen console out right now. It simply has more to offer than the others at this point in time.

Feels great to finally see FF series return to their old reputation. I remember back in the days of 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12 that it was almost a guarantee that a new Final Fantasy game would be nothing short of great. Each game was fun and encapsulating in its own way. Then for some reason, the games started taking a dramatic fall off with 13 and 15. I hope 16 returns FF to its own trend.
14 was amazing. I think more jaded FF fans should’ve played despite it being an MMO.
So sad people skip 11 and 14, two of the best games in the series
@@SaberRexZealotdude, MMOs are an entirely different game genre. I'm sure that FFXIV is great. I've heard nothing buy praise. But even if I never left the FF series after VII, I wouldn't have played XIV. I spent years in WoW, and those games consume your entire life. Even if they have a single player mode? They aren't the same as an actual single player game.
@@Xoulrath_yeah, FF14 seems great and has a good story I hear, but I Ann’s a lot of FF fans don’t like MMOs and the combat looks uninspired to be honest.
Not what I look for in a FF but it’s great to see it doing so well as SquareEnix really needed that win.

What a year for gaming this is. I just finished the demo and now this will be the next game I buy after finishing tears of the kingdom.
I HATE Open World RPG; it is boring & waste of time to me. I just want a GOOD STORY that executed well so I won't get stuck in an open space 1000 hours not knowing what the heck is going on.
So you can't have access to timely accessories on ff mode ng+?
This year's GOTY is gonna be REALLY interesting.

I'm glad I got a PS5 instead of waiting to see if a pro or slim version would be released soon. I've wanted to play this game since it was first announced. I recently played the demo and bought the game last night. I'm enjoying it and can't wait to get home from work to see what happens next.

The game is amazing so far with the demo although I don’t think anyone has completely finished the game inside and out to have a final verdict but this was a good video. Great job lol
Game journalists get early access to games (about a week I guess), so that they can complete the game and make an early review. So it's not really shocking, for them to give a review for the game before launch.

What final fantasy means to me
A game that looks killer before launch but turns out to be empty and thin without soul. Worlds to explore with nothing to find and no one to talk to. They’re like China…a land of façades and gaming your way to a buck. (Original ff7 was awesome but that’s it)

@@strider775idk. It seemed ToTK was a touch over hyped and was under expectations to what most players were expecting while ffxvi was under hyped and the game is exceeding expectations.
The two contenders will be ffxvi and ToTK for game of the year, and I think ffxvi will squeak by with a win, barely

I can confidently tell you the story of this game is beautiful and I am coming from ff3 789 and X and X-2. Moreover, having clarified my experience playing final fantasy games this is my new favourite final fantasy I am so in love with the story and I am hoping people give this game a chance. Not being a huge launch as Zelda tears of the kingdom or Diablo 4; this game deserves your consideration I think it might be game of the year contestant.

I like how it feels like FF3 and FF5. There's something about it that's classic FF and it's most likely intended.
Yeah lots of things feel very classic Final Fantasy, for example the lore about the crystals and their effect on the world.

Not a huge ff fan but ff12 is easily in my top 5 games of all time and this is the first one since that I’ve been able to get into. While it doesn’t top ff12 for me personally I most certainly agree with this ranking 10/10
One thing i dont get I s making his brother "dying" a focal point of the story if his power is of the phoenix which is pretty much always fire and resurrection? On top of that there are two fire dominantsm Hmmmm i wonder what seperates them? Lets see if they subvert expectations
I think that the point is very much that his brother isn't actually dead.
Well he does resurrect one time during his fight with Ifrit when he is killed by Hellfire.
He could resurrect again but I don't think so.
im assuming the Dominants of Phoenix can only resurrect a certain amount of times cause if not then they would technically be immortal and then that’ll just raise questions/plot holes about the previous Dominants of Phoenix

If Legend of Zelda can get 10/10 with a sub par story and a forgettable soundtrack. I'm scratching my head why FF16 was being downgraded

Battle theme is phenomenal, action is top notch. Just doesn’t feel like ff at times but definitely enjoyable game overall

The only thing I didn't like were the Quick Time Events... other than that it's really good. FF16 is the only game that can challenge TotK for GOTY, realistically/

This is my first ff game. Wow, this is a masterpiece! Is ff 7 remake this good? And is the combat turn based? I can’t believe I waited this long. This game is epic in every way. Can’t put it down

Ff7 remake is better in almost every way this one I still enjoyed but ff7 is truer to the og e.g resistrnces, difficulty and better rpg mechanics. Story in both is compareable overall my opinion is ff7 remake is a 9 this is a 7 or 8
@@duncanfirth i really think they are incomparable because of the combat, you had to control multiple characters in FF7 and i didnt like that so i dropped it after 7hours of gameplay, also i dont know why FF16 is called RPG in the first place.

Well, i have to be fair, it has issues in the "game design" department, but I''m more than happy to forget them if it means an excellent story, world building and overly artistical direction. If they would have nailed that too... oh boy, this would have been a "godly" title, but I'm ore than happy with "excellent" :-)

Wish I could play but oh well. Microsoft needs to reaffirm or strengthen its relationship w SE BUT I enjoyed the broken masterpiece of FFXV at the time. Sony however I’m sure also has been paying to keep FF off any other platforms in regards to consoles
Good. If it's alright for Microsoft to buy entire developers, it's alright for Sony to keep games on their console only.
I'm not sure how I feel about this game I'm about 5 to 6 hours in and t is so beautiful so epic and the story is for once a joy to watch and entertaining. I think my problem is I could beat this game with my eyes closed its to easy and it feels like the battles are only meant to showcase cinematic moments. It's just way Way to easy i haven't died once I would have to say for me 15 has the better fighting and this one is more pretty with it. Just not challenging enough for my teenage adhd lol

@@gibbleway Well, I played every FF game no matter how mediocre every entry has been since 12, but yeah that's a valid option. I just don't find myself wanting to rush to the store for this one.
@@julieb3240 to your point, there are a lot of comments scattered among gaming site reviews saying they don't play final fantasy but this is one they could get into. I played other games past final fantasy and don't feel like this one based on reviews and what I see is one I want to play. I've already played other games like it even if there are the familiar summons whatever I might play the demo when it hits pc but obviously, the final fantasy constant cycle isnt working
@@gibbleway Well, I'm sure for every fan they alienate, they will pick up another fan, if not two-- that's what they're hoping for at least. It doesn't really matter to me, because it ceases to be relevant at that point. I guess they have been struggling with the series for awhile, but it wasn't due to the mechanics, but more so the over-all design, story, and lack of clear vision. If nothing else this game has clear vision which is why it's a competent product at least, but competent is the greatest praise I can give it from what I've seen. It's well-made but I don't see it standing out in any way, except Soken's music. He's kind of a genius. I'll wait for it to go on sale, which happens to these mainline games pretty fast. :o
Maybe I'll enjoy it, but I haven't really enjoyed a FF game whole-heartedly since like 10, and to some degree 12. This one has too many things that I already don't like, like the lack of a playable party, a lack of some more light-hearted/fantastical elements, and the loss of strategic combat for some button mashing, which people keep assuring me takes actual skill and gets fun eventually (...). When you know, you know. GL if you decide to play it.
But can you explore or is it all point a to point b fight boss cutscene and repeat. I hated ff13

No fun whatsoever. Unless you had a disability and normally you can't play games. Now they can. That's a good thing.

It's called accessibility. Not everyone is gonna be as skilled or want the challenge other players want. It's a good thing. You have the option to equip or unequip

And now for the downside of the game that no one seems to be mentioning:
1. Overly long cutscenes (which happen VERY often, think old school Metal Gear Solid level cutscene length)
2. (MINOR SPOILER) This may not be a big deal to some but to others it may be and that's the fact that there are some homosexual (guy kissing guy) action in the game. This is not common in video games esp in a triple A one.
3. Some main missions are silly fetch quests that would be more suited being optional side quests imo as they're pretty boring.
But apart from the above-mentioned it's still a pretty fun game to play.
If this game is not the game of the year I might be kinda disappointed.
I also like GamingBolt never heard of them and so so much better than IGNs dirt sheet

eurogamer gave the pessimist review I sought, dreary sidequests, overly hero, dialogue boringness, all seeming to fall on another action/big monster themed sword. they mention they prefer the old final fantasy games as well.

That’s not just an evolution of the genre, it’s completely different which by definition, isn’t the same. Hence it’s not really final fantasy anymore.

LMAO a 10 are you kidding me ..... at least from what I played in the demo, gameplay was rather basic, not to mention the horrendous performance issues... very very intense motion blur and ghosting+ graphics mode was a joke unstable 30 fps is laughably passible . You have got to be kidding me giving a perfect score with issues like this ... its a joke games can get a free pass simply by nature of the games franchise namesake.
It deserves a 10 honestly.

I loved the combat in the demo. I hated the story, tone, and characters apart from Clive. I also just saw the "Active Lore" shit as just boring. I want to play a game, not read a history book
