- To begin with, it’s not an easy-peasy task to remake Final Fantasy 7. But Square Enix have not only done that, but they have also managed to deliver one of the finest RPG experiences of this generation.

This will be my first Final Fantasy game. Played the demo & thoroughly enjoyed it. I love the gameplay & how dazzling it is. 🤩 Beautiful stuff!
So question when the other Parts of the game release will I need to buy them or are they included as downloadable content?
I think since weve bought the game. They'll either be free dlc or alot cheaper

99% chance that it will carry over. The original PS1 game came on 3 disks and they all carried over. For that 1% chance that it won't... is if you buy episode 2 without having bought episode 1. Lots of scenarios in that situation.

Hearing this game is linear is a boon. That means everything has focus.
Just like the original game was linear. Sure, there was the world map which was sort of an open world, but the game progressed linearly. I'm not against that here either, too many open world games seem to fall flat.

I also agree. Most games don't benefit being open world. I usually prefer linear games because they are consistently fun and is really well paced which is important for telling a story.

Yeah look at ffx15. Full of nothing and harder to do towns. Not too mention it kills pacing. In 15 you go very far in the car just to fight a few minutes, just to drive around around 10-15 minutes to fight again. Not to mention the loading with fast travel loading. Kills the pacing for me. Open world will be better with next Gen SSD. Cutting down the slowness of it all. Ffx13 would have been decent if it wasn't about 50-60 hours of corridors and cut down on the BS plots
I like that it takes place midgar only. It gives them the opportunity to introduce things that will make each entry better. Introduce the open world part in part 2. Introduce the gargantuan weapon fights in 3. It allows each new entry to still feel familiar but fresh and newly added as you go.
does anyone know about part 2 and its release date? and how many parts in total? also would it just be an update on the copy you have already purchased ?
I think it will be dlc for the parts. But that’s just a thought, I’m not entirely sure. And I believe it’s 3 parts in total and it seems like half the internet got a copy while others are still on wait.
Nothing has been announced about the next part yet or even how many parts, but it has been said that each part is a full game so very much doubt it will be dlc.
I've seen some credible educated guesses that say this is a trilogy, each part being full-fledged game releases.
There has nothing been confirmed yet. They only said, the next episodes won't take as much time to make as the first one but it won't be significant less time.

I wouldn't really recommend it playing it as a first timer. As pretty much it relays on your knowledge of the original game timeline and events. Yes it will guide you eventually in the way you need to go, but you won't get many of the flashbacks, flashforwards and lore reveals.
Have they said if we're going to have to pay for each installment like Destiny dlc or if it will be like Hitman where you pay full price for the game once and get it in chunks?
Or if it's going to be ff7-1 ff7-2 and so on

Lee Chang I had my issues with RE2R as well at least from my perspective. Good but not great. RE3R good but not great. Loved the originals a lot more. Definitely replayed the remakes a lot. I think I will be reaching RE3R in replays like I did with 2.

Separate "complete" games. Square likely following the format they did with FF13 trilogy.

I only have a foggy memory of the original game but while this one may be a bit linear I imagine the next game or games in the series will be much more open to backtracking. I seem to remember the opening part of the original game following a similar development where at first you're somewhat on rails but once you're out of Midgar the world really opens up. Again though, I haven't played the game since it came out 23 yrs ago so don't rely on my hazy recollection.

The original is actually linear even after you leave Midgar. Although you are in the world map there's really nothing to do but move forward. It starts to open up at the Gold Saucer when you get your first vehicle.

You have to remember that in the original the Midgar section was linear too. It's not until they get out of Midgar into the open world where things really open up and you have options. So we'll have to wait until part 2 to see how the remake handles it.

The only time the original isn't linear is when you have free access to the Highwind at the end of the game. And that is mostly for side quest content and level grinding before the final boss
This game is great from what I’m seeing, but some of these perfect scores I’m seeing come from a lot of the nostalgic point of view.
Honest review that's not perfect.
I just finished and can honestly say I'd give it a 7/10 it's a real good game and the way they've expanded and recreated moments from the original are breathtaking, everything you've heard on that front is true. Negatives though? Pathetically short by JRPG standards let alone a Final Fantasy game, it only took just over 30 hours to complete the game, side quests and all. There is filler (like a LOT of filler) not just in the repetitive fetch quest style side quests but at point literal pointless backtracking in the main campaign. And the last big fault I honestly can't get into too much but in expanding the story so the first 1/8 of the original game takes 30 hours they've had to make certain changes and I'm personally not ok with all of them. I'd honestly still recommend it especially if you're a fan of the original but temper your expectations and be aware by the time this remake series is done the PS6 will probably be at the end of its cycle with all they've still got left to do!
@@Serprizebuttsecks I can only agree to that. Don't know why any of the reviewers adress FF7 Remake's business model of separating the game in so many episodes. It's not even the full prize for 35 hours of (partly stretched) content (compare that to other gorgeous JRPGs like Persona 5), it's the crazy amount of waiting involved in this whole endeavour. I mean, you play this game and you kinda want more. But you gotta wait for the next part which probably releases in a year, presenting just another loose end after 30ish hours.
Don't get me wrong, the game itself looks gorgeous and plays really well, every character gets a lot of attention and satisfying screen time - a top notch remake in almost every way. There's just that caveat of it being part 1 of a not yet announced number of parts before you can experience the whole FF7 story (which is definitely one of the best ever told). That's definitely my biggest minus with that thing - whether or not one says it is worth the wait. Not to mention the direction Square Enix sets for future monetisation models of highly anticipated video games. Imagine Witcher 3 being released in 4 episodes of 25--30 hours, each a full prize game. Lets hope this will never be the case... ;)
I mean... the only reason we even have FF7 Remake is _because_ of nostalgia. People loved the game enough to demand a remake of it with modern graphics and technology.
By that same token, so many of the reviews are negative because of the nostalgia. People don’t like change
Actually, many of the NEGATIVE reviews seem to be coming a lot from the nostalgic (and often nit-picky) point of view also.

Looks to me the battle system is an updated variation from FF12 with combined elements from FF13 & FF15.
Yeah with smaller enemies I just slashed though them but the later you go into the game you will need to use a lot of strategy to get past enemies especially the bosses. I thought I wasn't going to like the battle system but it is really smooth so I was wrong.
Yeah it reminds me a lot of 12 as well. People tend to forget that one.

Can you still summon monsters?
Big John76 another reviewer showed that they can only summon during certain battles so it’s nothing like FFVII in that respect.

Big John76 Hapoy to do so. It’s very limited, not like we are used to, more condition based. Still crossing my fingers that this will be good. Playing through the original for the 37th time lol. Was actually doing gameplay videos on my channel until my mic broke, lol.
I think summons are gonna be on the crummy side(Id recommend those reviews, but they went heavy on spoilers so I won’t), however just be aware it’s definitely not going to be like past summons. Which is an odd choice imo.
How is Square Enix going to handle the rest of the storyline? This game only focus on Midgar so it's easier flesh out the locations and storyline, but they're going to have a hard time when they start to go through multiple locations in part 2.

Finally got a time to play this game after having it since released. This is my 2nd FF game that I actually completed. Haven't played the original btw and I think its for the best since it made the game story entirely fresh for me. Never really had a dull moment with this game. Even just strolling around and talking with the characters are really fun. I was rooting at Tifa at first but after spending time with Aerith from the church, her personality is too adorable to ignore. Best covid quarantine days ever!

Common sense would suggest the sequel will take a fraction of the time to produce because the assets exist now all it takes is to strip Midgard to a flat empty surface and start laying down a new setting the writing is garunteed more then halfway complete because it was probably started halfway through development of this one

@@weaver3636 believe me, I've done everything. Complete strip and clean, fresh thermal paste on the CPU and it currently on raised feet to try and help. It's particularly impressive when playing detroit.
I have to say I majorly disagree about there not being filler content, wondering around the slums to find a couple of cats, running around to find lost children that was meant to be in class, finding lost chocobo's, looking for songs to make 3 people happy, shop keeper tells you to kill rats. This game is absolutely amazing but there is a lot of filler.
Its possible the combat feels so tight and responsive because of all the work they did with Platinum Games on Nier Automata. I'm glad Square Enix have finally got the definitive combat system for the Final Fantasy series. We went through so many combat engines with FF12, FF13 and FF15, they have finally nailed it.
Being linear is fine for this one, due to the fact the game was linear in the original until you left midgar. If we never leave midgar, there is no reason not to be this way.

I also hope they could fit into 3 parts and finish till PS5 era ends or :D Still, I cant believe Squarenix is back. Dragon Quest 11, Octopath Traveler and now THIS. I really wish them success with this one so the game is commercial success and they will not make games like FF15 or FF13 or KH(almost any part) anymore.

Supersonicspyro 2577 I agree. Because the story follows a linear path, I can only see them opening up the whole map at a certain point into part 2. I don’t see how you can immediately go to the gold saucer before going to Kalm. It has to follow a structure unless they just completely change the game after leaving Midgar which is a possibility.
Since the first game has a really good pacing, by placing sidequests and flirty cutscenes in between... You get this rare disconnect between the urgency of the plot vs fanservice
Mild Spoiler. take the train graveyard scenes. You should be rushing with all your might to the sector 7 plate, instead of that... you are stuck with a bunch of flirty cutscenes and the illusion of Aerith and Tifa having a good 'ol time. (Pack chocobo scene)
Don't get me wrong i love those cutscenes they are full of life and attitude, but they don't belong there, maybe they belong to a pre-corneo reveal, but not when the cast it's supposed to be 100% focused on the task at hand, preventing Shin-Ra from destroying their homes...
Ps4 is outdated?
PS4 tech is 7 years old so it is shocking square was able to squeeze a lot out of it.

It is quite sad, but after reading why theyre doing in parts makes alot of sense. They would of had to cut so much out and the graphics wouldn't have been good. And we would probably have to wait another 5 years atleast. So i think they made the right decision tbh
we shouldn't pay $60 for a fraction of the original game. We don't mind the side content and filler material but they literally took 6 hours of the original game and extended it to over 40 hours of gameplay that's disgusting. We want to play at least the entire first CD of the original which was about 20-25 hours of gameplay and canonical content if we are paying $60.
Square enix little experiment failed, they are going to have to make drastic changes in the development process this is bullshit.

I think the score 10/10? is understandable once you fully played the classic and the remake.. we all know that the story classic is linear but I don't get the point why some people complain about fillers sidequest? It's an actual retelling of the story and midgar people
I just finished the game myself and first it seemed that the side quest where to fecthy and boring. But when i played a bit longer they did really get better and gave some backstory to other side characters.
Can't wait for this game.

You telling me that killing rats and finding cats, or picking flowers, or find and kill floating eyes, or the angel of the slum, or kill monsters so you can let a guy visit his wife's grave added to the overall story plot? Or was it to extend a game to make you finish it in 22hrs, that would have taken 10hrs to run through without mentioned fillers. If you watch anime and their take on fillers, that was exactly what square did to us.
Alvin Tam for me, it added to the world of the game. The more I played, the more I found myself wanting to do that stuff because I got to spend some more time in Midgar. I mean, you can hate on that stuff all you want, but in the end it’s all in the eye of the beholder. You see it as filler, I see it as Cloud spending time with the people of the city which leads to him caring just a little bit more. An anime filler doesn’t add to the main characters’ development, nor is it optional content. A majority of those side quests could have been skipped, but in the end I chose to do them because I wanted to. But I mean if you don’t like it, you have every right to, I mean, I liked it but I’m certainly not trying to persuade you to like it or anything, I’m just giving you my take. I enjoy it, you don’t; there are hundreds of games that you like that I’m probably not into either.

They already promised that. That was why they wanted midgar to be it's own enhanced story. Because what they're doing with part 2 would be too massive to be included as part 1. That's why the ending is strange.

Gamespot also gave it a 10/10 and they are known for their relatively lower scores.

wonder what they meant by its only a 1 year exclusive since they've never bothered to confirm anything about other consoles or PC releases.
Let them at least launch the timed exclusivity to ps4 before announcing what platform it will be on after the exclusivity ends.

What about the acting? I feel like my love of Square went away once their was acting and not written dialogue. I know this doesn’t bug some as much as me but the terrible dialogue performed by not great actors ruins games for me.

You're joking if you think the side quests are on par with the main campaign. This game was a spectacle, but it does have filler and a lot of load sections. If you're looking to buy this it's fantastic but, without wanting to spoil anything, check your expectations.

My eyes keep wanting to bleed with the constant slo-mo effects. Barret reminds me of Morpheus and Cloud is still an emo boy. Looking back, I think I still prefer Dragon Quest XI as another recent Square Enix masterpiece. I also preferred the original gameplay more than this mishmash of FFXII/XIII/XV. Classic mode doesn’t feel classic enough.
With how much space is taken up with graphical flair for its own sake, I can see the “full” FFVII remake being almost a TB in size.

This is the first numbered Final Fantasy game where the level cap is not 99 or 100, it is 50. The reason for this is probably because the game ends early in the FF7 story and it wouldn't be correct if the players were too overpowered so early on.
Voice acting debuts of Briana White and Cody Christian
This is the very first 3D Final Fantasy game to be given a remake (not remastered like FF12, FFX, FF8). Final Fantasy 3 and 4 were also given remakes but they were originally 2d games.
Steve Burton was originally going to reprise his role as Cloud Strife for the remake. However, due to his voice not matching a younger version of the character, he was replaced with Cody Christian. His voice over work on the game can be heard in the PSX 2015 trailer.

How does a game that back in 2005 was shown as a technical demo not be done 15 years later. I remember how they spents YEARS making FFXV and that game was horrible. I might as well wait till PS5 comes out to get it (by then part 2 HOPEFULLY will be out), and just watch twitch streamers stream not even half of a game. HARD PASS for now

Lol but yeah 1/8 why would anyone pay 60 bucks to play what is essentially 1/8th the game. Gonna have to wait 2 years to actually play as Vincent or yuffie.
If some people have got the game early due to supply lines cause the rona. Sony, why not release it now on the store to make it somewhat fair. What's good for some is good for all

I ordered a SOLDIER First Class edition from the Square Enix store. I'm still waiting on it. How fair is it for a digital buyer to get it early when I am waiting for UPS to ship from the other side of the country? Hell, I paid more and even paid it off in December. If anyone should get it early, shouldn't it be me?
Yeah, we can play this however you like. There's also still reviews to come out, shipments to arrive, and even the concerns of the digital storefronts. Stop acting like a spoiled child and wait for the game like the rest of us. The only reason anyone got an early copy is an unprecedented virus that we haven't seen in decades at best. If not for that, we'd all be playing it on April 10th, with some lucky people getting it a day or two early.

midgar was always pretty linear in the original but once you leave it the game really opens up

Can't trust IGN that's for sure because they have no consistency or logic. They gave 5 hours RE3 Remake campaing a 9/10 and yet still complain about filler of FF7 Remake even though it has 20 hours beautifully done main story besides that. The filler is an excuse to grind and enjoy the masterfully done combat system.

I’m baffled why reviewers seem disappointed that the remake is fairly linear. Did any of them play the original? Midgar was never an open world and was defined by very narrow streets and linear progression. You didn’t get an open world until after you left Midgar.

@@ceksoncekson5963 I am probably 15 hours in and I really enjoy it. I also never played the original up until 5 months ago. I see why people love it. It's probably the best FF game there is (when it comes to story). The remake is really packed with content so far I have played. The world is really detailed and the combat is fun. Characters have much more attention and development in this first part. But if you are new I would suggest to play the original first to see if u like the changes.
