    I got out of my daily driver 98’ civic and went inside, I needed to take my trash to the curb so I went back out side and my tail lights were on…checked fuses, lights and nothing and then I found this video, I disconnected my battery went to my auto store in my other car and in less than 5 minutes I was fixed! Thank you!

    This just happened to my 96 Civic hatch. I was stumped as to why my brake lights were on. I did see pieces of blue rubber on the floor. Dead giveaway. Also happened to my clutch making the car not want to start. But turned out it needed a new switch as well. Good video. 👍

      How did you get the clutch stopper in? It’s difficult to put in for my ek hatch too

  • @Jaylom
    @Jaylom 4 года назад +4

    I replaced the clutch switch (aka starter and not the one this video displays) pedal stop on a work colleague’s S2000 2 days ago. I know some people had success replacing the pad by sliding it in with their fingers (I’m not as flexible lol) or using a nut/bolt substitute or even doing the popular paperclip jump technique, but I found the less frustrating way is just to remove the seat for more space and then removing the pedal assembly and reinstalling the peg. I knocked it out in about an hour’s time.
    TL:DR - Remove 4 bolts and harness from seat. Remove seat. 3 nuts in total to remove pedal assembly. Change peg and reinstall assembly. Wam bam thank you ma’am.

      Jaylom So it sounds like you need a total of 4 rubber stoppers to change out everything? 1) brake pedal stopper, 2) clutch pedal stopper, 3) clutch safety switch, 4) cruise switch ? Is this all the same part number for the stoppers and am I missing something? Thanks

    There are 3 of the same clip Part Number:46505-SA5-000
    2 on the clutch pedal assembly, one for cruise and the other for clutch position for starting the car.
    1 on the brake pedal for brake lights.
    There's also 2 seperate clips for the accelator which can also cause 00-05 cars to not have cruise control
    Part Number 1: 46505-SA7-000 This is what your pedal hits when you let it fly back.
    Part Number 2: 17819-S2A-A01 This is what "pulls" your pedal when you engage cruise
    Hope this helps someone.
    Also a video on bypassing the clutch interlock bypass would be nice, especially if you can show how to wire it so you must be on the brakes like the UK cars to start JUST in case someone does a dumb. This is useful for reducing the load on the trust bearing when starting. A necessity for those who have upgraded pressure plates or clutches. Only US cars have this

    Great explanation! This just broke on my 2004 Honda CRV. I will be fixing tomorrow when part is delivered from amazon! Thanks for video taping! Now if I could just figure out what the black rail on top of the car is called and where to purchase a new one. It came lose and lost screw and now another part has flung off into the wind......I would call it car molding and the beginning of a luggage rack.....as there is an identical one on the other side of the car......so I will keep searching. I would say that is the hardest part of car repair is the diagnosing and then figuring out what they call the part. Thanks again!

    You of course showed the 2 easy ones, the brake and the one that indicates that your clutch is out. But what about the one that activates the lockout switch to keep the starter from engaging unless the clutch is pushed in. I want to see someone replace that one, it is ungetatable not really a word but says it all. I gave up and wired the connection so it allows the starter be be engaged at anytime.

    Most auto part stores sell pedal stops, but they are not rubber. They seem to be a composite plastic and they take a ton of pressure to push them in place...they have no give. Make sure you buy a rubber material for a brake pedal stop

      i remember i used to be able to hit the breaks so hard it would crack your passengers back. then i switched to ceramic brakes [less dust worst performance]

    • @xlilnetx
      @xlilnetx Год назад

      @@wolu9456 maybe its your abs system, but I would check the simple stuff first. Did U recently do your brakes? Do your lines have air in them? If not check to see that Your rotors aren’t messed up and uneven caused by running worn out brake pads and them eating into the rotor. Then check and make sure u have brake fluid, is your brake light popping up in your dash board ? If it is could be low on fluid. Do the simple checks U can do yourself then if u can’t figure it out take it to a mechanic U trust. Yeah I have a s2k too

    Have you ever heard a winding noise or coins chattering noise at certain rpms (2500-3900) when you are not accelerating or decelerating? I hear this in mine and I notice when it makes the noise it goes away when I press the clutch peddle, or even just slight pressure on the peddle. I think it might be the tension spring that pulls the peddle back up or a component that holds the tension spring in place, but when I inspected it nothing looked broken or worn.

      Thanks DIY Guy, I’ll check out your IACV video. I’m reasonably sure it’s a vibration from engine or transmission mounts or possibly the exhaust system. The noise only happens with the engine running and slight torque being applied, by a/c compressor or light clutch engagement. The s2000 idles and run great otherwise.
