THIS is the video customers need to watch!! He didn't upsell cabin air filters, throttle body cleaning etc etc he sold the customer EXACTLY what this car needed!!!! As a former technician this guy impresses me. Good work 👍
Thanks for the kind words!
Quality work, hard to find.
Thanks for the kind words!
Did this job on my AP1. These cars need TLC when working on them. One of my favorite cars I've owned.
I live in the bay area. Ill have you guys do my clutch when it needs replacing. Thank you for this video i feel more comfortable now theres a shop with well experienced s2000. LHT performance is very far.
I have a friend that had a Honda shop (retired now). He specialized in S-2000s. I never visited him where there was at least 1 S2K in the shop. The owners spent crazy money on repairs and modifications.
S2000 owners are a die hard breed!
found you shop, just 4300 km away. but I still enjoy you posts. Thank you
I'm glad you got an S2000 to work on! I was surprised to see that Comptech supercharged resprayed Monte Carlo Blue AP1 was done by you guys. I love these cars! My AP1 is Vortech supercharged as well :) I have a customer who's S2000 was in almost the same abused shape as that AP2 with the busted clutch and subframe bolts stripped!! It's so annoying how idiots work on these gems and utterly mess them up. I'm glad you could save the day here Ezekiel. Those subframe bolts and the actual frame threads are crucial areas on the car.
Unfortunatly, the customer got such a bad experience from those previous shops, that he is currently selling the car
@@CMAutohaus Oh no! this really is a worst case scenario. And no surprise here but, my own customer in the same situation has now decided to sell... The previous owner/mechanic/s even messed up the clutch pedal and some parts of the wiring harness.
I had Exedy 'OE Replacement' clutch for both the 2009 Civic Si in 2016 - 2017. & in later 2023 for the S2000.
Both platforms, I used Honda's pilot & release bearing. The S2000 had an ACT pressure plate instead.
The Exedy lasted low 20k mi. The base plate of the friction disc was the weakest point of the clutch system. A piece of it broke off, ejecting 1 of 4 springs
just letting you know exedy is not OEM. I would recommend the sachs kit for the s2000 since previous cases of people buying those clutch kits, it is just a rebranded OEM honda clutch kit.
Thanks for the tip. We've used many Exedy clutches in S2000's before without issue.
Would rather watch this repair, walk through the actual parts that were damaged.
I based this video off what The Car Wizard is making. It is almost impossible with the pace of our shop to film during actual working hours
Should other cars have their clutch components like the forks lubricated regularly? This is the first I've heard of this. I'm not sure if that's only something you need to do for new clutches, and only on S2000s.
It should be lubricated with proper high temp grease when the parts are installed and will stay lubricated for a very long time. We use Honda UREA grease for all things clutch related and that works perfectly for a very long time.
Only lubricated when new. You could tell there was no lube used from the previous shop's clutch job and the customer litterally got shafted with no lube.
@@CMAutohaus People need to use Hondabond!
Great video. Thanks. Question: How hard is it to find OEM parts for a 17 year old car? (I used to have a '07 s2k.)
Different models will vary on parts availibity. S2000 has such a strong following, it seems parts are still readily availible from Honda.
Good job, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the kind words!
time sert
The cost was ??
Most shop will not give costs over the internet like this as each estimate is specific to the customer and vehicle.
Our shop is also in the heart of the Bay Area meaning we are going to be more expensive than most of the country
2k?
nice vid
Thanks for the support!
...lets be honest....no ferardi is a "production car"....its a car. It was produced....but im still arguing that washers are directional. I shouldnt be here right now. 🥸
