Hi, Roxanna! Everything looks amazing! The clean feet look on your hydrangeas is far more appealing to me also. Thank you for sharing with us. Watch out for those mosquitoes! The orange can of OFF has become my favorite perfume for the last two years 😁💚
Really like the heucheras under your hydrangea hedge! The various colors are so pretty, and must keep the area interesting even when the hedge isn’t blooming.
YES!! Love those heuchras/Cora Bells and the many colors under the Lime Light. My bells just started sprouting the tall flower & at first I thought it was a weed! ☺️ Seeing yours here, I must be doing something right! My hedge is 3 yrs old from 3G containers & I prune it the same way. Beautiful Rox!
Your hydrangeas have always been amazing I can remember when you first put them in the ground and how beautiful they have bloomed for you every year 🌸💕🌸
Love how you’ve pruned your hydrangeas and how beautiful the coral bells look. This heatwave is terrible. I hate to spend so much time watering but that’s summertime in Missouri.
Lovely medley in the first half Roxanna and the music just helps soothes as I watched. Also, the hydrangea hedge has really come into its own....I love the under-plantings of heucheras. Perfect!
I love the look of the hydrangeas trimmed. I planted several last year to do the same thing. How big were yours when you first started pruning? Do you have a video on pruning when the were small? When should I start the pruning process? Any help would be appreciated. Love your gardens, they are beautiful!

I was scoping the garden tutorials and found your video. I just planted 20 hydrangeas in front of the house for future hedge and privacy. I intend to train my shrubs into tree form as I seen in your video. Love to see your garden is closer to my zone 4 middle of Wisconsin. I have a 2 acre rural perennial garden very few annuals except for window boxes. I will be watching your other videos to get inspiration. Happy Gardening!
The hydrangeas and heucheras are huge Roxana! Looking good! I feel your pain gardening in high humidity and heat. Feels like wearing a wet and hot blanket outside... 🤣
I love the sculptural effect of your pruning approach! It maintains the lush quality of the shrub and provides a great frame for the lower border plantings. Well done!
Your hydrangea hedge looks just great and the colors of the various heucheras underneath really brings that area to life! I also prefer limbing up many of my shrubs. Great job!
Hi Roxana, I'm new to your channel. Loved this video! The hedge is gorgeous and I really like the coral bells interplanted with the hydrangea. I am in southwestern Ohio and we're having very similar weather. I generally like hot weather but this is kind of extreme for our area these last couple days. Thanks for the great video! Angela
I actually planted several last year with the same intentions. My garden space is limited so I figured it would open up lower growing space. Yours looks beautiful. Thanks for sharing

Your hydrangeas look great. Very healthy and happy. I don’t have a hedge but I’m trimming up one of mine to give more room for annuals around the bottom. I like the results.

I don't really, last year the rolly pollies were eating my seedlings at some point and I added some sorta powder but other than that I don't really do much more. A healthy garden is going to have an ecosystem of bugs who would wanna eat your plants, it just comes with the territory.

I really like the look of prune things in the bottom, plus it gives you room to plant shorter plants. Thanks for the idea. Se ven espectacular!!!

That hedge is so beautiful! Last year when I came across your channel it inspired me to take down a hedge of super old lilacs privacy screen between neighbors. They weren’t taken care of. we are having Indiana humidity in Iowa...26 yrs here in Iowa and I rarely say it feels like Indiana! 96 degrees and 55% humidity...not quite as bad as I'm sure you are dealing with.

I love the look of your hydrangeas, and this might be a way to keep them out of the reach of deer. Do you prune the tops of them too? Do you have a video on that?
So gorgeous!!!! I have a question: is this your second fertilizing or is this one instead of early spring? Thank you and thank you for sharing your amazing garden and hydrangea hedge!! 🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷
@@SoilandMargaritas ok now it makes sense. I was worried that I wasn’t fertilizing frequently enough 😂. Thank you for taking the time to respond and for inspiring me to make my small gardens look amazing! 🌷🌷🌷
Hi I love yr videos. In one of yr videos u used felt to line a wire planter. Where do u get yr felt from and why do u use felt instead of coco liners? Thank you
I get the felt from any store that sells them (hobby lobby, Michael’s, etc) you can use anything that lets water thru to line your baskets, I don’t like coco liners because they will show on some of my baskets and I don’t like the brown light color, I can use paper bags or even any fabric that would hold soil and let water run 🤷🏻♀️
@@SoilandMargaritas yes I have heard from utube rd that the coco liners also dry out quickly. So u have to water more often. But next year I will try yr method. 🌷
Sorry I keep forgetting…what zone are you in? I’m only asking because I’m in the gulf coast ….zone 9a and wondering if limelight is even worth a shot in my region.
Hey Rox! I'm having a hard time with my standard limelights flopping. I did try to prune mine in a vase shape like yours. Should I prune the ones flopping down really low in your opinion? I see some people stake them up but I really don't want to do that. I have mine up against the house and I'm wondering if they would do better with a 360 degree area to grow like yours. Seems they tip one way bc they can't grow out into to the house. 😟
Hmmm If they are too close to the house they might just be pushing to the sides, Are you leaving strong branches when you prune? I see a lot of people leave the skinny branches and only cut the blooms from their shrubs... if you think of it, skinny branches are going to grow skinny growth and when the blooms are huge they will flop with the weight of it. I would "try" to give it a prune to make them look better now but maybe using a string to keep them all together and fluffy might be best.
@@SoilandMargaritas yes I leave the strong and prune the skinny. They are huge (7-8ft) and look beautiful other than the flopping. Only 2 of the 6 plants are falling down. Also, they are only about 3yrs old. Thanks for replying Rox. Appreciate it. I will tie up some of the branches after pruning a little.
What happens if you don’t fertilize? I’m in zone 7a and my hydrangeas are robust without feeding except for the youngest volunteers I transplant in spring. Just curious… 🤷♀️ I’m a lazy gardener… lol… let mine grow low to block weeds.
Do whatever it pleases you with the pruning! The only person your garden needs to impress is you! One year I skip the fertilizer mainly because I ran out and I noticed mid season the leaves started to show lack of nutrients (yellowing) but is going to depend a lot on your soil I think, you may get away not doing it for a few seasons but the difference in fertilizer is huge for stronger and healthier plants.

This is my one (and only) fertilizer, I didn’t do it in early spring so I’m catching up!
Zone 5, I mentioned and CCed in the video.
The hydrangeas look nice but it sure opened up the view of the weedy mess on the other side 🥴
Nothing I can do about that! Thank you J!
Don't throw your limelight cuttings away! All hydrangeas can be propagated. Free plants! Your garden is beautiful.
A lot of things in my garden can be propagated, I just don't have the time or patience lol
@@SoilandMargaritas I absolutely understand
Thank you for your information and I love your hand I love your head where did you get it.
They came with me when I was born so 🤷🏻♀️ 🙈🙈🙈
