    Hi there! Your garden is beautiful! The reason there are no blooms on your big leaf (macrophylla) Hydrangeas is not because of the sun. It's because they bloom only on old wood. So you can't cut them back until after they begin to bloom in the spring and you can actually see which wood is dead. Also, like most parts of the country, there was a late cold front in the very early spring. That cold front froze the blooms that had already set on the plant. So most people that don't live in gardening zones 8-11 (I'm in zone 9a), didn't see blooms on their big leaf hydrangeas. Hopefully this makes sense and isn't too confusing. Happy growing!

      True.I didn't get any blooms this summer on my 2 Macrophyllas because of the sudden freeze back in April.

      You have big leaf hydrangeas? Living in zone 9 do you have them in full sun or under shade?

    • @WithLoveSonyaB.
      @WithLoveSonyaB. 10 месяцев назад

      @@alexislobo2010 Hi Alexis, they’re in shade, under the eaves of my home). They still need to get enough sunlight to bloom though. I have them on the North, West/southwest, and East sides of my home. All sides are shaded by oak trees (except the north, but those are completely under the eaves), but still receive quite a bit of sun for them to flower.

    Absolutely beautiful…I planted my first Panical and Annabelle Hydrangeas last year in spring I had a few flowers ,this is my second year so hopefully bigger plants and more flowers.
    They aren’t popular here like they are in the USA,I really have to hunt for them.
    It’s still winter here and spring starts in September next month so I’ll be pruning them soon.

      Oh no! Sorry to hear that. Do you fertilize? Did you plant them this year? Perhaps the soil could use a boost? We live in Virginia and yesterday was 100 degrees. Have had so little rain it's crazy but they still look pretty good. The first year they are planted, they should be watered often. Once they are established, constant watering isn't necessary. They should also be pruned each Spring.

      Hi, are they limelights or endless summer? My guess is either lack of sunlight or lack of water or both. The limelights are hardy and can still bloom with less sunlight but my endless summer ones won't bloom and I think it's because not enough sun. Sorry to hear that.

    Garden Day, you want to play.
    Garden with your shirt off, see what the neighbors say.
    Ants in your pants, you want to plant some plants.
    Depending on where you put the plants your gonna take a really big chance because...
    the sun don't always shine in the same damn spot and should you put them in the ground or a Terra Cotta pot.
    The sun is beating down on my garden so warm.
    kinda weather have your flowers wishing for a storm.
    But don't over water even if you think it's getting hotter.
