  • I've had these White’s Semi Dress for 4.5 years. They have been my most-worn boot in that time.
    Taking the spirit of the goodyearwelt reddit, this boot review is "Album first" and mainly features the boots with me providing voiceover. Hope you enjoy this style.
    If you haven't tried White's Boots, my experience with their quality, comfort, and durability has been very good.
    The price has gone up since I first bought in 2019, so I understand if you aren't sure if they're worth it.
    In my opinion, as long as you like the style, you'll find yourself getting the wears in necessary for them to get a fantastic cost per wear.

    I recently bought a pair of these in the brown dress leather and the standard half composite outsole and heel. I rotate them with a pair of White’s MPM1s in natural waxed flesh leather. They both put a smile on my face in the morning getting ready for work.

    I 've had a few pairs of White's in my time (I have two pairs currently). But I always wanted that boot. That color was what I always wanted to get them in as well. Good stuff. White's makes a very nice and durable boot for sure. My 350 Cruisers have held up really well and even their budget line of work boots seem to be really good. I own a pair of Fulton Moc Toes that I use for work atm. They are very comfortable and holding up great to the daily elements and surfaces of outdoor tasks.

      Hey Christopher! Currently two pair of White’s, I had a pair of the roughout “Baker’s Oxford” which I think may also be the Hathorn Traveler? Ended up selling because of the lack of arch support. All of them have been really sturdy and well made.

    One of the best boot reviews I've seen, and I spend too much time looking at boots. They cost a lot for sure but this vid highlights unpretentiously why they would be worth it. Love your work brother!

    I just got my custom Semi Dress (baker's boots) this weekend, and I'm wearing them to work for the first time today. I have extremely lean and flat feet, so I paid $50 extra for an open instep adjustment, and it is really nice to be able to get them snug without the eyelets touching and the tongue bunching up.
    Other customizations: single row welt stitching, few layers removed from the heel stack, layer removed from the midsole, and no toe stiffener.

    I got a pair of those (almost exactly those!) in 2014. Not sure if I didn’t give them enough time or they just weren’t right for my feet, but I sold them within the year. They certainly fit well, but maybe high arch support was the thing that killed me. Oh well, as compensation I now have two pairs of extremely comfortable Moorby boots from Canada West that combined cost less NOW than the White’s did THEN. Thanks Del!

    • @DudsByDel
      @DudsByDel  4 месяца назад +1

      Ok so yeah, the whites are expensive. And they have definitely gotten more so. I was lucky to find this pair at just $400. Though I did pay more for the black pair. BUT! For me the comfort has been unmatched.

    I have 2 pairs of White’s. My first pair is the MP on their modified Barrie last and the second pair is their stitchdown line on the 55 last. The stitchdown line is cheaper with more even stitching for those that care about the evenness. Those are in brown double shot Seidel leather that is similar in color to the brown dress leather but ages a bit differently. Love both of my pairs which had no major flaws. I also got lucky and have no squeaks.
    Need to get a pair of Nick’s and compare. Love your Nick’s too!

    • @DudsByDel
      @DudsByDel  4 месяца назад +1

      Do you find any difference in the foot comfort between the MP and the stitch down 55?

    • @nathancreel8547
      @nathancreel8547 4 месяца назад +1

      @@DudsByDel the 55 last has the big arch support especially with the tall heel, and I prefer it. There is definitely more toe room as well which I prefer. That being said, I had an easier breakin with the MP. It just fits my foot well, but the arch is flat so I prefer the 55 in the end. Heavy black CXL on the MP seems like a similar temper to the double shot, but it’s more of a tongue flexibility thing on the stitchdown boot.

    i think your boots are equiped with a celastic toe as a toe stiffener and there is a lining in the vamp / toe area, very nice boots!

    • @DudsByDel
      @DudsByDel  4 месяца назад +1

      Yep they do have the celastic toe and that lining. For what it’s worth, it’s the standard config for both to my understanding.

    I've got a pair with higher heel. After about a year and a half of regular wear the back of the rubber part of the heel is reduced almost to the leather - I walk a fair bit, maybe five miles on a normal day. Otherwise they look as worn in as yours. I like them, and am surprised how much I like the big arch, more so than their MPs that I also wear.

    • @DudsByDel
      @DudsByDel  4 месяца назад

      Yeah that’s probably more walking than I typically do. I’ve been rotating them with some other boots even if they’re my most-worn. The comfort is tops for me so far, it’s hard to describe. Like plugging my foot into a leather socket 😅

    I have a pair of red dog Roughout ramblers/C350. I’m also an 8, but standard D width. Monster arch support, super beefy, and now super comfortable. The double outsole stitching on my pair is excellent, especially compared to my MP boots from them. Which are terrible lol. Really love whites patterns, but they really are too pricey for their QC to be this bad on the regular.
    Also, loving the Duke jacket I purchased from you.

      @DudsByDel  4 месяца назад

      1) really happy the Duke is working for you man. It’s a great jacket
      2) as for the boots, yeah it’s funny how their stitching can be all wonky. But beach the comfort and durability are off the charts. If you like the look can be a big winner

    Wow, that is gorgeous. I have one pair with the same leather but with the v bar sole and two speed hooks. Did you use the Renovateur to condition these, and did it darken it

    • @DudsByDel

    • @DudsByDel
      @DudsByDel  4 месяца назад

      Hey man. Don’t drive stick but I do drive a lot. These with the block / traveler heel are a little more comfortable for pressure against the base of my heel when driving long distances, but the standard heel isn’t that bad. Haven’t worn driving slips so can’t compare directly.

    Can the Brown Dress leather ever be polished to like new condition, or is it that once the top layer is worn off, it is like that forever? Thanks for your videos, very informative.

    • @DudsByDel
      @DudsByDel  4 месяца назад +1

      Hey Morris! It won’t return to new look. The lighter areas tend to darken some when conditioned so they stand out less. I suppose if you used a polish with brown dye in it you could bring it somewhat back to new looking, but perhaps you’d just want a different leather that ages differently
