Yes it is indeed the 1950's half belt. I got one size down from my standard. So this is a 38 and I typically get a 40. That being said, this jacket was made in a particularly heavy batch of the chromexcel horsehide and was tough to wear as a result.

Hey thanks for the quick reply! I'm looking to get my first aero jacket so I've watched a bunch of your aero videos, seems like you'd suggest 38 for 1950s half belt or a 36 for the highway man? I currently fit well in a size 40 rainbow country A2and size 40 schott perfecto (looking at aero so I can customise minor things like zipper colour, internal pockets and maybe shorten sleeves).

Do you have really broad shoulders and long arms or something like that? Anyone with a build far out from the average, which for example includes bodybuilders and other serious athletes, have trouble with off the rack. That being said, you may just focus on getting one or two custom jackets in styles you really admire.

@@DudsByDel yeah im 5’10”. 180 with a 42 chest. But my arm length is as if i was 6’1”. Then a narrow waist but that means i can maybe get two measurements out of chest/length/sleeves/width/sleeve height. But not all of them at once.

It does sound like you may need to size up. Did you have a chance to measure your chest and take the chest measurement like I showed for the Schott jacket?

It's looks proper to me, especially once it's zipped up (Schott's cut can sometimes be notoriously roomy for American beer bellies, but again, it looks good here to me). What makes you think the jacket is too big a fit to you?

I have to ask which jacket you're talking about? For the 618 i completely disagree. For the Cal, I could see the argument. However I rarely wear it with just a tee as shown in this video.

You may very well want to claw out your eyes if you do a youtube search for "leather jacket fit" and listen to all the bad overly specific advice out there lol

Yes for me it was all a shot in the dark with first purchases. Even so there are still surprises; my Aero Highwayman fits very comfortably with about 23" chest. Due to the weight of the leather and restrictions from the design much smaller than that would be too tight

@DudsByDel Yes, with the first jacket I bought it based on my chest measurements but forgot to take into account that I'll be inside the jacket, so the jacket measurement has to be bigger than my chest. Also a lot of the models for jackets tend to be tall skinny guys which doesn't help me.

You can of course choose to avoid sneakers with your leather jacket. I tend to prefer boots but still enjoy my sneakers

Hey man! More folks tend to go for the 530. I’ve also considered the 654vn because of its 25” back which I’d prefer over the 26” 530. Looks like a great jacket though
