That's one of the most vivid descriptions of an IED blast I've heard; hats off to Scott Meenagh, a thriving survivor of that conflict

Exactly, every amputee I've met from Afghanistan, which isn't a lot, is an absolute stud. Mentally and physically. Cheers

The real crime is veterans aren't looked after by our government. Men like this need more support when they leave the forces. Some scars aren't visible. ❤

Maybe they shouldn't travel thousands of miles to kill kids and say there fighting for our country that's a better idea IMO

I'll add ANY government, during the Blair years he issued an instruction to reduce War Pensions by 40%, I fought it and won, but makes me wonder how many veterans took it on the chin

Those ieds were so deadly it's just sickening and heartbreaking how many men suffered horrific life changing injuries because of them .
But the men who survived them are the toughest men on the planet.
There will to live and lead a full life should be an inspiration to every able-bodied person.
Nothing but respect for these men ❤❤❤

I was lucky enough to be in the same training platoon as Private martin Bell, ( Breville platoon ). He was a great recruit and from memory he went on to win best shot. I suffered an injury just before P-company which later led to my discharge. I recall the day i seen Martins face on bbc news and It was a feeling i will never forget. these men are true warriors. I wish Scott the best in the future

I can totally relate to what he said, often times we make peace with the potential outcomes of our choices but are loved ones don’t. And the thought of it happening to you scares you not because of what it would do to you, but what it would do to your family.

I served in a Ranger Battalion in the U.S. Army and had the chance to train with and go to war with troops from the French Foreign Legion to the Royal Thai Rangers and a lot in between. The best warriors, the best at their weapons, and the best all around guys you want on your side in a street fight, are the Paras of the United Kingdom. They would punch out a Yank for a smart-ass comment then pick him up off the floor and buy him a beer (don't ask me how I know that).

I have the utmost respect for this man . Unfortunately I dont believe large elements of British Society as it is presently and the British political establishment are worthy of this mans sacrifice. It breaks my heart to believe that the real battle lines have been drawn out on home soil in recent years and patriotic British people that wish to maintain civilization on this Island will be forced against their will to focus their attention nearer to home in places like Rotherham and Rochdale.

I do not mean any disrespect when I say this, I just don't get it, but the army turns you into the ultimate killing machine, they are happy with you when your able to fulfil your job role but when something like this happens you thrown on the scrap heap because your broken and lost your purpose , how can this be allowed, to these guys , the armed forces is their family. Every day they get told what to do where to do it and when to do it. I suffer from extreme depression and anxiety severe night terrors and extreme ptsd with suicidal tendencies which is a result of a work injury that's left me terminally sick, I get mental health and the negative it brings. These guys like all these hero's who've seen war, needs this family more than ever, the last thing they need is to feel they've failed and let everyone down
